Archived Decks / Re: I've GotP Time (1.27 Time-Aether FG Grinder)
« on: March 09, 2011, 03:03:14 am »
i agree with the second AW
most of the time i save TU for flying etenity (because 2 is a lockdown but 3 is when you can start clearing FG side of the board...pretty much needed against FG using feral bonds and what not)
anubis to me seems like the weakest link here, next to TU (you rarely if ever wants to TU anything your opponent put out since you're going duo)
2 quint is favorable and pretty much make anubis obsolete (you already have GotP for fractal and rewind target)

one thing to note, FGs != players

FG inherent advantage means that they can rush you quite easily and being mono means you dont have much defense hence why the inclusion of another element which provide what fire is lacking

against FG which is what this deck is meant to be used for, it certainly does NOT work better as mono

pretty sure i know who that guest supposed to be from his massive overuse of bold, italic, underline and other fancy text styles but more importantly placing importance on "genius/thinker" (a reflection of his self importance if you will)
but he does have a point though, as a newbie, being accepted into war is an honor, not a privilege

Rainbow Decks / Re: Cloaked dragon rush (against FGs)

i prefer a sundial instead of the 3rd hourglass but everything is the same as rasta (and noobiecakes)
and 3shield/4cloak combo is imba when you're burning through your deck like a madmen
i doubt cloak will get nerfed after just getting a facelift that made this possible but no doubt zanz will tweak the AI to prioritize cloak in future patch if this kind of deck is going to be popular and believe me, it will
this is the new face of rush style anti-FG deck

Post Your PvP Event Ideas Here / Re: Upped War? Is it possible?
« on: March 07, 2011, 05:06:37 am »
on the contrary..this wasnt meant to be accessible to newer players

stay with me now...

we have weekly tournament...and 3 out of 4 weeks (going on the theory of 4 weeks rotation) use unupgraded cards
only 1 weekly tourney is upgraded allowed (keyword being allowed meaning even those without upgrades can participate)
so thats 1/4th that people with upgraded cards can actually put their collection to good use

and then we have Beginner's League and Champion's League
well, its pretty much 50/50 there so thats that

and then we have WAR...the actual war where it is all unupgraded....with the exception of 6 upgraded cards option for Generals and 3 for Lieutenants. keep in mind everyone else are forced to use unupgraded cards...no matter how many upgraded cards they've got in their collection

now, PvP events....we encourage event ideas that are accessible to the majority...what this means is that you're more likely to see event with unupgraded cards rather than those using upgraded cards (if there are option to use upgraded cards...there will be some kind of limitation or drawback - refer to sideboard event and phat deck event)

so what are those with tons of upgraded cards to do about their massive collection?
this event provide the opportunity for these fellas to put worth all their money (so to speak)
this event was meant to be accessible to them

but i can assure you, this event is an exception rather than the norm
like i said, we normally encourage events/tournaments that are accessible to newer players
so newer players shouldnt be disheartened...you are not forgotten, not ever

Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to restart.

Maximum amount of participants for this event is 32. If the event is full, you can still sign up as a reserve player, and will get a chance to join the event if any of the 32 players doesn't show up during round 1.

2. GETTING READY
Build a deck of any size (from 30 to 60 cards), and build a sideboard of exactly 15 cards.
- You may use any non-upgraded cards in the game.
- You may also use up to 6 upgraded cards. These upgraded cards can be in either your deck or your sideboard, or distributed between them both.
- The cards you choose to upgrade will stay upgraded during the whole event. You will not be able to change which cards are upgraded, nor can you downgrade them.
3. BRACKETS
This event is a double-elimination tournament and uses two kinds of brackets: winners brackets and losers brackets. Everyone starts out in the winners brackets. When you lose the first time, you will drop down to the losers bracket. When you lose the second time, you will be eliminated from the event. The final match will be between the winner of winners brackets, and the winner of losers brackets.

In short, if you lose two times, you are out. If you don't lose two times, you win.
4. DUELS
Players have 4 days to make the fight happen. They must contact their opponent using a PM, and try to find a time that suits both. If the fight doesn't happen, both players lose by default, unless one player is clearly more active in trying to find a suitable time. Event organizer will determine who the most active player was, and his or her word is final.

Matches are best-of-five. The first player who wins 3 individual duels, wins the match.

You are allowed to change your deck (and mark) by swapping cards between your deck and sideboard on a 1-for-1 basis at any time but you only have 3 minutes to do so. If it takes you longer than 3 minutes, it is considered a forfeit and the other player goes to next round.

It's a good idea to either record the matches, or take screenshots as proof, in case something weird, like a desync error, happens. Remember, a player who gets caught cheating, will be permanently banned from all Elements community PvP events, so please play fair.
5. AFTER DUELS
Winner should post a new topic in the "Battle Results" section, along with short description of how the match went. Both the winner and the loser are required to post pictures of both their decks and their sideboards. After round 1, all decks and sideboards from all players are 100% visible to everyone. This means that starting from round 2, you will know what cards your opponent has available, and you should plan your strategy accordingly.

Remember, decks and sideboards may be arranged however you please at any time, as long as your sideboard always contains the required 15 cards. If you start the event with 34 cards and a sideboard of 15 cards, your deck must always have that same 34 cards.

« on: March 06, 2011, 06:18:21 am »
This is a guideline for event idea as posted by ScaredGirl (original post can be found HERE (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,11436.msg224661#msg224661)). Example used is Sideboard Event (which can be found HERE (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,16210.0.html)).
When posting an event idea, you are advised to closely follow this guideline. Feel free to add and remove any titles and replace text when needed.
Pink colored text is 'Sideboard' Event-specific whereas Yellow colored text is PvPO comment. Code provided at the end of this example will have pink colored text that you need to edit to cater to your own event idea specifics.

it has potential...i'll say that much

@SG
if we are looking at it from "which element has lowest #", then we dont need a discussion or even a vote on the whole thing...

ELEMENT# in BAZAAR
:fire13
:aether13
:water14
:air14
:time14
:life14
:light14
:entropy15
:darkness15
:earth15
:gravity15
:death16
there ya go...each element sorted by # cards in bazaar followed by whether they received any new cards in the last couple of updates (in ascending order)

personally, even though Fire seems like it has both the least number of cards AND the last in "receiving new cards in the last couple of updates", the whole package is there for it...the creature base is good (small, midrange and big hitter categories are covered), the spells are there...only lacking is non-pillar permanent / defense / utility but then again, fire is all about "offense is the best defense"
no wonder nobody talks about fire needing more cards...much

Aether suffers the same fate in that people often focus on a small number of bombastic spell/permanent in that element and dont realize it is tied with Fire as the lowest # cards in bazaar

who cares if element X has the least number of cards, it has card Y and Z!

and thats what needs to change folks

its no longer possible...its going down yo
YES, thats right folks...it is ON

but not right now, we are currently maxed out on ongoing events (3 max at any time) PLUS, to make way for the actual war, this humongous of an event will start AFTER War#3 ended

so start upgrading* folks....its all upgraded, all the time (except Generals can choose to use up to 6 unupped cards)
detailed rules will come later, please dont inquire now

* best not to actually upgrade but save up the coins to upgrade just as a precaution, unless you already have them upgraded and all before this here posting
