Brother Down gets 7/10, it's a good sound but after hearing four minutes of the same chord progression, I really wish they'd at least done a bridge.  Submediant - dominant - subdominant - submediant - dominant - subdominant - etc... studio fade.  Sigh.

Where Have gets 9/10, some great variety and interesting sounds there!  It's like it's not even the same band.  Now if only they could stretch out of the ionian pitch inventory a little; but very few popular artists do that.  Point off is mostly for a forgettable melody.

Am currently reading Pride and Prejudice, and it is not only an easy read, it has me hooked.  The characters are already very believable and richly developed about 50 pages in.

Yeah, by that point they'd built up the characters enough that they had enough humor to draw on.

nerd1, necro thread is necro.

Jocko, if you watched the first episode, you should know that the third one is where the really good stuff starts.  First two-parter is a bit cheesier, since it's trying to tell some kind of epic "save the world" story.  At least the similar episode they did in season two had John DeLancie.

I am saddened, as there seem to be only two planned episodes left in season two.  Any word on whether the show's been picked up for a third season?

8/10... not the best song from Dr. Horrible, but it's good and fits where they put it well.

Hm, it would have helped if he had mindgated your Eternity.  That would have produced a stalemate.

9/10 - the point off is because the song is, sadly, ambiguous.  It can be a poignant picture of how depression traps people, or a personal damnation of the songwriter's own life and spouse.  Or it could just be someone throwing a tantrum for attention via hyperbole ("I wish I were dead").  That ambiguity hurts the song no matter what its purpose is - it would be better if there were something clearly defining the song as one of the above three (or a fourth I haven't considered).  As it is, different people will understand the song in completely different ways.  Maybe that's how they intended it, but if they're trying to make a point at all, that goal will often fail.

I guess I need to see the show, because for the song by itself, I give a 7/10.  It's charming enough, but the lyrics could be a lot better and the melody and harmony don't go anywhere.

&feature=related (like I said, I'm a sucker for a good snare drum line.)

9/10 - not one of my favorites, but as usual with Pink Floyd, very well written and executed.  An undeniable classic, with a strong meaning underneath - whether you agree with it or not.

(I would like to take a moment to thank Uppercut for starting what has become one of my favorite topics from any forum ever.  I've encountered some new things I like here, too!)
