Rainbow Decks / Re: Yaladilae's Butterfly Angel (v1.21)

Like I said, when I hit 10 cards left, I stop using time quanta, and that seems to leave a large enough reserve to prevent deckout in most cases.

What you can't do is keep fighting forever, however.

The biggest problem with this deck is staying power in a drawn-out fight.  Assuming none of your towers got nailed, you have 24 quanta production per turn divided over 12 colors.  That comes to an average of 2 time quanta per turn, and to rewind yourself indefinitely you need 3 per turn.  If a game is looking like it's going to drag out, you need to start stockpiling time quanta at about the time when you have 10 cards left in order to have any staying power for the rest of the game.

A single additional time tower would rectify this, I think without too much undue slowing of the deck, as it would allow more liberal use of the hourglasses.

I tried this for a while, and my conclusion was that you couldn't profitably grind FGs with this deck.  You could most certainly win a few times and get some nifty cards out of it though.

oops

thanks for catching that.

I remember that once, someone suggested that Relics should have some sort of use. And just now, I've had this random idea...

You can sacrifice a Relic or Shard you possess to give yourself an extra visit to the Oracle. This can be done as many times as you wish in one day.

Good idea? Bad?
I was thinking something similar actually.  Bribe the oracle with relics to get better spins, a chance of an upgraded pet, etc.

Here's a picture of what I mean:

Noticed this playing AI3.  They don't draw mana, and the burrow and devour listed under the card go away, but if you mouse over them, devour is still listed as a passive ability.

Dunno how this would shake out, but what if the flood card were just like the unstable gas permanent; ie. you summon it and then it's a one-shot sort of deal?

Surely you're not arguing that the flesh spider is competitive for level 3 monocolored grinding?  It's 1:1, but at 3 damage heaven help you if they possess a shield.

But since you argued that these things have to be taken in context, look at unupgraded frogs + adrenaline.  That's 2 dam/quanta.  It's 2.2 for epenephrine + giant frogs.  Spiders/recluses don't synergize with anything in a mono death deck, so they're still at 1 and 1.6 respectively.  That's a ratio of 2/1 and 2.2/1.6.  The average of those ratios is just shy of a 90% margin of superiority for dam/quanta for a life monocolor deck.

Experience bears this out too; how many death rush monocolor decks did you fight in the top 50?  I recall seeing a great many life mono rush decks.  And of all the death monocolor rush decks you have seen, how many bother with spiders?

As you point out, it would be silly to make the spider/recluse a clone of something else that already exists.  Instead, I think it should be given a skill of some sort.  Ideally one that has some utility against the very difficult to counter otyugh/immortality combo.

71
You forgot that procratination and turtle shield can block otyguhs. Love the ensnare idea though.
Ah, good catch.  Those two do indeed dramatically reduce otyugh effectiveness.

it's a midsized body for a midsized price. every color needs a creature like this. death also has creature control in the form of virus and plague, one of few creature generators in the game, and the most powerful shield in the game. Life has bond and adrenaline, no creature control, no means of card advantage, and you are all up in arms because life gets a flesh spider for one less quantum?

Seeing as that translates to almost 90% more damage per quantum, yes.

I did see that.

Life is shaping up to be a really good choice for new players and mono-color lvl 3 grind.
