Rainbow Decks / The ULTIMATE False God killing deck!!!
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:32 pm »

I still find myself with insufficient control and my attack cards get whacked regularly. I don't have the owl's eye (I'm running lobotomizer).

So I started adding creatures to counter that. Forest spirit is working great so far. Since I rarely play the bone shields, usually dissipation + stasis do the jobs, and end up with excess death quanta, so I'm thinking about adding a chrysaora, so I can pump +1 poison damage per turn. It can be played very early and it really adds up.

How often does the gods play purify?

General Discussion / Shard of Divinity
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:32 pm »

Hey guys,

I just got this card... Shard of Divinity... adds 20 HP do my maximum hitpoints, costs 3 quanta (colorless).

Is this card good?

Right now I can't see how it would improve my rainbow god-killing deck...

Any advice is much appreciated, thanks
cheers,
GB

I think card type restrictions are really the way. Either having your mark/pillars generate more quanta if you're pure, of maybe making each element have a super-card that requires a pure deck...

If you don't make such kind of restriction, people will incorporate any card changes into the rainbow decks

Alright, figured the damage thing. Turns out the deck has a quite low number of weak creatures, so when you have few of them in your hand, you must be careful.

I'm winning more now but my biggest problem with the deck is early defense. I do well when I draw Sundials early because I can stall the game until the deck takes off. All other shields are too expensive to be used quite early with 33% quantum pillars.

Hey scaredgirl,

I tested this deck earlier for 2 hours on the trainer url. No upgraded cards.I lost a lot, far more than I won, seemed always low on quanta, specially time. I can now see clearly why upgrading the hourglass is so important.

Anyway, I have a question... How do you do damage with this deck? The deck is quite low on creatures, and most of the times they get destroyed quite quickly.

So for a couple days after saying Immortals are useless, spending hours at excel, and get bashed here in the forums, I decided to actually TRY them, so I replaced 1 dragon for 2 immortals in a 32 card deck. (only 2 upgrades -- towers)

First I played for about 1 hour against AI lvl 3. There was not one game that immortals made any difference whatsoever. Either I won easily (95%), or I lost because of AI super drawing / rainbow decks with massive luck.

Then I played Top 50, something I never did with mono-aether before... and I must admit, it was a great failure. Not the immortals, the deck itself. I can't say for sure but it appeared to me that nearly 100% of top50 decks have a way chain-disable our shields OR chain-sabotage our quanta OR spam so much damage so fast that my deck without full upgrades pillars were too slow. Most top50 aether decks are not pure-aether (I fought many aether, but only 1 was "pure"), mostly are aether + conflag or steal, some using mark of fire, some using pillars.

Then I played against gods, and was fairly decent, better than last time, 20 fights, 3 wins, 1 card.

Back on the topic, I don't think it makes much difference if you choose an immortal over a dragon, the fact that weird mathematical numbers done in excel indicate marginal advantages of one card over the other is of little importance when you look at the big picture.

Out of topic now, I'm quite disappointed with Elements, I played top 50 decks I saw the power of upgraded cards and the power of other decks, and I don't have the time or patience to farm them, and I'm regretting that my 2 hard earned upgrades were put in aether pillars because right now all I want is to play other elements and start to build my rainbow deck, which require quantum towers :(

I can't agree to brain9h, they are not fine, well maybe if you don't play aether and don't have to use them. 13 is too expensive for these dragons.

I play mono-aether mostly, and 13 is fine, honestly. Aether is not about spamming weak creatures.

I never made it past Calc II in college. What's the mathematical symbol for "gratuitous handwaving"?

With 6 creatures in a 30-card deck, the odds of drawing a second creature by the time you have 13 quanta built up are quite good.
:D

If you can play a 2nd immortal, you can play a 2nd dragon the same way. Delaying the 2nd dragon by 1 or 2 turns if you don't have quanta quickly compensates after 1 or 2 turns. Meanwhile the 1st dragon played is already making huge profit in terms of damage versus the 1st immortal played

For 13 quanta cost, the phase dragons are fine.

Deck Help / what cards to use in a Rainbow deck
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:28 pm »

Cisco, would you mind giving us an example of a rainbow deck you use? I'm quite new to the game and the electrum cost for changing decks is too high and has so far prevented me from experimenting other elements.

Agree.

Also I'd go as far as to say that the game allows very little room for changing decks. It costs too much electrum (gold) ... nearly 1000 to build a secondary 30 card deck (a dragon costs 109!)

If the selling abdbuying prices for regular bazaar cards were equal, then it would be easy, I'd sell all my ather deck including upgrades (but not rare cards), then I'd rebuy them all in a different color. THEN the game would be fun, I would be able to experience the game fully instead of being locked in the set I'm currently trying to improve.
