False Gods / Re: Nerf or Buff? Featured FG: Destiny
« on: June 11, 2011, 04:22:41 pm »
I have been playing GotP lately, so Destiny usually feels like an easy win ... except last time, turn three featured a buffed dune scorpion and dragon.  The luck is problematic in that it feels like a guaranteed win or loss very quickly, with little range of interesting difficulty.  It is not so much an issue of nerf/buff as getting a satisfying game from an enemy that might get dragonflies and might get elite phase dragons.

Lulz FQ is probably one of the only FG you can get away with something like that. P.S please tell me you got an EM
lol, simple maneuver (rewind all your eternities) to get EM

also, I think you can do that for akebono with a good draw too, no?
On the other hand, there are bad draws.  I just met FQ and my first Hourglass was my 29th card (of 50) (of 6 hourglasses).  Quick math suggests that this happens 1 in every 213 games, if you can survive enough turns to see it.  (It took longer to get a paired Animate/QT, so no holding her off in the meantime.)

My problem with I've GotP Time is just horrible, horrible draws, both on gods and cards.  Tonight: Decay, Divine Glory, Decay, Divine Glory, Scorpio.  I actually one won of those, but two of them I had 3 or fewer towers/pillars the entire game.  Next up was Serket: never drew a single Shard of Gratitude, no Hourglasses until I was below 20 health, but all four Eternities in the first 12 cards.  The number of times I get 1 Tower/Pendulum in the first 12-15 cards with this deck...

Is my luck rotten or is this normal behavior for the deck:
Out of about 20 games, I have had only 2 with more than two towers/pendulums to start.  I have yet to have a game under 20 turns in which I have an Hourglass, Eternity, and Turtle Shield all appear, so PC priority has been more or less irrelevant.  Of the games that have gone past 20 turns, 2 of them had no Hourglasses in the top 30 cards.  I presume it is a bad run of luck, because people are reporting that this deck works, but it is enormously frustrating to play 10 games straight without a Shield coming up.

I also found great success with the not-quite-mono air, almost entirely unupped.

I would like some way to appease the Random Number God.

Also doing absolutely horribly with this, losing money.  Of course, my luck is not representative: I'm at exactly 50% for getting a Frog in the first half of the deck.  By my quick math, that should only happen 5% of the time.  I need a larger sample size but am unwilling to spend the electrum on it.

General Discussion / Re: What's the most common nymph?

According to the Elements Community Nymph Totals (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,13173.0.html), it's the :entropy Nymph.

NOTE ON PURPLE NYMPHS:

Because of a glitch in the random-card generation at Oracle, it is actually about twice as likely to get a Purple Nymph as it is to get a nymph from another element. Not that most people mind, since Purple Nymphs are widely regarded as one of the best types!
And here I was thinking it was just more weird randomization that 3/4 of my nymphs are purple.

Great opening hand, easy win, except that the Quantum Towers never generated a single water quantum (Permafrost Shield) while giving me 20 light quanta.  Guess what element CCYB (variant) never uses?  Let's see, say 60 chances to generate even one?  (11/12)^60=0.5%.  The towers also generated exactly one earth quantum, which minimizes the value of Lava Destroyer and Pulverizer.  Come on, 4 Supernovas....

God, I hate bone walls using this deck against morte and incarnate...
If you have a Purple Nymph, Incarnate suicides behind his Bone Walls as you reverse his vampires.  Nymphs are slower than Improved Antimatter, but you get a lot of distance from them.  If you can also fit in a Shard of Readiness, that locks down most targets (for an expensive three-card combo, yes).

General Discussion / Re: Fail Draw - Math people whats the percentage?
« on: November 26, 2010, 03:21:57 pm »
While we're working out odds, my deck of the moment has 12/40 pillars, and I just had back-to-back games with no pillars in my opening 8.  Woo!  By my quick math, there is a 4% chance of having the first 8 cards with no pillars from that deck, so assuming two mulligans, that is a 1/374825 chance.  (I probably did not get either mulligan, if I understand how that works, because the deck has upgraded Sundials.)

This probably happens more than anyone notices because you just do not live that long against most enemies.  Getting 1 tower in the first 20 turns to be roughly a 1 in 4 event if you have 1/5 towers.  My math says that is not possible, but I see it consistently, because the RNG hates you.
