I was going to say the same as Hodari. Lava should damage the attacker badly rather than just stopping damages :P

It's possible that a Fire Elemental could channel the lava into the shape of a shield.

good ideas, just that Fire Shield already does that, so makes this card a bit pointless :s
I agree, since it's the same element, it'd be redundant.
Sure, but a shield made of lava burns too. If you don't mean hardened lava (which isn't a good material for a shield anyway)

You could make it a cheapish permanent with 3 or 4 activation cost, IMO.

Yes, more than because of the coding issues it's because the mechanic I tend to dislike cards that can potentially be game enders at the price of big sacrifices of perms/life etc. That's just me tho.

Coding would be an absolute hell, but it looks a great idea (the turns' mechanic). What about tweaking it so that, instead of rewinding your previous turns it adds an extra one to you and him? Would be definitely easier to code.
