False Gods / Dark Matter Nymphs
« on: October 15, 2010, 06:10:24 pm »
I'm really fed up with Dark Matter and his gravity Nymphs.  He's pulled these out a couple of times on me recently really early in a match, and they're just completely obnoxious.  He's already got 12 black hole cards, and a triple mark, which makes it really challenging to get rolling against his deck.

Add to that the fact that his Nymphs can't be won by a player (which they shouldn't be of course) and the situation seems extra lame to me.  The deck is already really debilitating and nasty without the nymphs.  In my opinion Darkmatter doesn't really need those nymphs since it can suck up 36 quanta of every type with the spell cards in its arsenal, and the fact that it lords unwinable cards over you seems needlessly cruel to me.

Deck Help / Re: need help building AI5 / FG killer deck
« on: March 13, 2010, 08:45:53 pm »
You should check out the thread I started a few days ago about my Eternity-less rainbow.  The win rate today against the lvl 5 AI has been almost perfect, with only 2 losses out of a significant number of games.  Only 2 wins weren't mastery.

Deck Help / Re: Rainbow Deck with No Eternity

Not a bad deck. Let's start the correction process.
Your main goal is to achieve a better deck, but retain your deck size in order not to deck out.

Remove your Druidic Staff. It's not that powerful and you won't get many Masteries with this deck regardless.
You need more drawing power. Remove both Sundials - you have plenty of shields - and replace with another Hourglass.
Remove 1 Dimensional Shield. You're a bit heavy on :aether quanta.
Add in 1 Quintessence. Works like a charm against creature control decks.
Add in another Rain of Fire. Very useful creature control, and you aren't using much :fire quanta.
Add an Ice Shield. Very useful for stopping the offensive, and you need to use more :water quanta anyways.
Remove Adrenaline. You're using enough :life quanta already, and it won't help you a whole lot.
Remove Chrysaora. One alone isn't going to be very good.
Add another Fallen Elf. Very useful guy.

The net change is -1 card. I would suggest adding in 3 more Shards of Gratitude and a Miracle once you win them. Replacing the Mind Flayer with an Arctic Squid wouldn't hurt, either.

Once you get that Eternity, you can slim this deck down considerably.

Hope all this helps.
Another Hourglass and Fallen Druid sounds like a good idea, but I'm leary of removing the Druidic Staff, given its beatiful potential as a stall when played with Adrenaline.  I agree that I have a tendency toward being life heavy, but I often fly the Staff out, and then Adrenaline it, providing 8 damage and 20 healing a turn.

I think in this case, just upgrading the Life cards to drag down my demands might be a more effective move than removing the combo, because it compares favorably to 4 SoG, with the added benefit of 1 less quanta and 1 less card required, and 8 damage per turn added (when the cards come at least).

I actually have 2 other shards, but have not upgraded them yet, and I actually have 6 miracles around, but never touch em.

I like the Squid, but the Mindflayer has been very good to me for controling due to his cheapness and low ability cost.

The phase shield seems like a good move also, since I sometimes find myself with all 4 in my hand...

Deck Help / Rainbow Deck with No Eternity

So far I have been having a poor time playing the FGs with my rainbow deck, despite the fact that I think I'm running some decent strategy and cards.  One big problem I believe, is my lack of an eternity.

I run a big deck (53) to help offset the problem, and it plays VERY well against the Lvl 5 AI (usually wins about 80% victories, the vast majority with elemental mastery) but the gods are much faster rushers and take me out a lot faster due to the increased variability.  I could use some suggestions for how to correct it (reset is not an option).

I run:
16 pillars (8 QPs, 8 QTs)
Mark of Time

Weapons:
Poseidon
Druidic Staff
Pulverizer (Upgraded)
Owl's Eye

Permanents
Empathic Bond x 2
Electrum Hourglass x 3
Boneyard
Sundial x 2
SoG

Shields
4 Dimensional Shields
2 bonewalls (1 elite)

Spells
Steal x 3
Quintessence
Rain of Fire
Adrenaline
x2 Flying Weapon
Protect Artifact

Creatures
Crysaora
Mind Flayer
Firefly Queen
Elite Otyugh x 3
Fallen Druid
Anubis

It has a ton of cards that cand work for any occasion, and VERY often either just swamps the lvl 5, or manages a miraculous turn around to recover 100% life beforeI get polished off after a slow start (best recovery is from 8 HP with a bunch of enemy cards out).
