So if I had this deck but was just grinding AI5s to get used to it, could I pass with just Pillars?

I need to grind electrum before doing that at all. Does an unupped version work as well?
What about the strategy? What is my main tactic?
Also: What's the point of using Aether pendulums if your mark is Aether anyway? Doesn't a Pillar work just as well?

I've been playing Elements for a bit, but haven't joined these forums(heck, I JUST found them like two days ago). I started with a Darkness deck, then turned it into a Life/Dark deck, then said screw it and now I'm grinding with a Shrieker deck.
