Sounds like an oversight to me given the odd of getting the same card 2 days in a row are lower than finding a nymph. xD

It might get fixed, but on the otherhand it might not given it's such an unlikely event. I reckon you'll just have to live with being unlucky for a day. :(

I'm pleased to hear Plat players are being more creative in their decks and not spamming SoG (as I would hope from those who obviously have been playing the game a long time), however Gold and Silver seem to be littered with them.

It's not that I mind using them AGAINST arena (in the same way they're vital against false gods), but the opposite is simply too much; a theoretical +60hp per turn on top of 200hp and draw/mark bonuses is just too much of an advantage.

My main problem with it is that it actually stifles creativity in vs arena decks as you always need to pack some heavy permanent control to stand a chance... which basically limits you to Entropy (Butterfly Effect) and Earth/Gravity (Pulverizer). I disregard Explosions as they can't really cope with SoG on top of the other shields, weapons, Bonds, Mindgates etc. they will probably throw at you.

That then severely limits your element choices: of all monos, only entropy has a chance and of all duos, you have to either mix something with entropy or go earth/gravity. So people inevitably choose rainbow.

Now the other problem is that SoG cost 3 random quanta. I'll say now I think Sancturies are much better balanced as they at least require 3 quanta from a specific element. This isn't so with SoG and people pretty much throw them in with any deck. This then means that whereas certain deck matchups might have been interesting and balanced (exploiting each others weaknesses etc.), the deck with SoG now always has a clear advantage... unless you have the heavy permanent control I mentioned earlier in which case you're probably using a rainbow.

Knowing this, many decks now also pack black holes as rainbows are really the only viable choice against a reasonable deck. There's not really much you can do about this though as you might try to counter by using a light deck (or combo) and then get screwed by your lack of permanent control againsst all those shards... (perhaps except entropy/light :P)

But yea, I personally refuse to use SoG in my arena decks as I feel they're nothing more than a cheap trick. Consequently my win rate hasn't been the best (still managed rank 34 in gold with mono entropy) but I'd like to think at least my matches were much more interesting for the opponeent.

Btw, I'm fine with quantum towers and supernova in the arena, but SoG are just too easy to add to any deck, and basically render the specific healing capabilities of certain elements (Life/Light/Earth/Darkness etc.) obsolete.

TL;DR Summary
SoG in Arena decks are overpowered. (they already have enough draw and life advantages etc...)
SoG in decks used to fight arena decks are fine. (we need them to survive False gods and False-god-like deck advantages, )
SoG in Arena decks require massive PC to remove effectively limiting you to entropy, earth/gravity or rainbow.
Unlike Sanctuaries, SoG are not linked to a specific element and so can literally be thrown in with anything.
All this combined massively reduces the viability of all but a few deck combinations versus Arean decks.
I have no problem with quantum towers and supernova in arena decks.

General Discussion / Re: [Poll] How many nymphs do you have?

Total:  :air :darkness :death :death :entropy :entropy :time :water :water :water

Got another water yesterday and another death today xD

Nymphs 2 days in a row ftw!

Lol, I also got a death nymph today (got a water nymph yesterday xD) however think the water is much more useful than the death. I'm using it to spam gravity nymphs for complete lockdown. ;)

I'm feeling your pain, but personally am enjoying the challenge. I'm sure I could throw any old rainbow together if I really wanted, but it's much more fun to find new synergies. Quite often I bemoan my lack up upgraded pillars in more than half the elements, however it's always fun to see how something new performs.

My first deck was a mono-entropy that actually reached rank 34 in Gold. :)

Since then, I've been trying out some duos and even trios to see how well they perform. In fact, don't tell anyone (:P) but the oracle gave me a Nymph Queen yesterday so I've been trying to work out soemthing around that. What I've got is a (hopefully) complete shutdown as nymph queen summons legions of gravity nymphs to suck you dry before you have a chance. As that takes a while to get going though, there are of course normal blackhole spell cards to slow you down. As for permanent control, a few immolations lend themselves nicely to explosions as well as a few other 1 quanta cost creature control cards, then the remaining fire quanta can summon a few lava destroyers.

This ended up a trio largely because of AI limitations. There's no way to guarantee it'll make a gravity nymph first which is the whole point of the shutdown, and then I had to add some random photons as I doubt it'll use immolation on one of the many unnecessary nymphs it eventually creates. Also if I used other gravity creatures, the AI would much rather play those over black holes which can often be fatal.

A previous version used time towers for rewinds and precogs; time nymphs also have good attack, however I was slightly underwhelmed by the complete lack of permanent control.

Currently 8:2 so after a few changes so something must be going right!

*Oh, and the deck is only half upgraded; no towers or immolations upgraded at all  :P

The Arena / Re: What is rating
« on: July 07, 2011, 10:19:01 am »
Oh, seems I failed to read the rest of this thread first.

Currently, a win in gold is worth +7 so there is definitely a change going on.

Also it seems gold has by far the hardest competition!
That makes me feel better if I do ok. :P

The Arena / Re: So what did you just take down from the Arena?
« on: July 07, 2011, 10:13:10 am »
Level 55
Oracle: Antimatter
145hp
30 upped cards
2x mark
2x draw

Result:
W:L = 127:21 after 4 days
Highest rank: 34
Rating: Only 250 :(

Not bad for something I just put together. It could have lasted longer but the oracle gave me a life tower I couldn't pass up. :P

Hear, hear!

I'd love to be able to do this more often but feel I have to work around what pillars I have upgraded.

Consequently, having rolled antimatter, I'm using a mono-entropy inspired by dream catcher, which is doing better than I thought. Currently at 108 wins , 19 losses in gold league, rank 50, after 3 days. :)

The Arena / Re: What is rating
« on: July 05, 2011, 03:56:09 pm »
can anyone explain how it is posibil to have a negative rating?
If you lose, your rating goes down.

There are numbers below 0 :P

If it wasn't like that, then you'll get loads of decks with 0 rating all ranked about the same, so negative ratings help distinguish which ones really are that bad ;)

Or so I'm guessing.

The Arena / Re: Most Amazing Arena Defeats!
« on: July 05, 2011, 09:27:18 am »
This is why I insist on a gravity shield in my rainbow decks. Those 3 little gravity quanta mean you can use Pulverizer 1.5 times less, but I have yet to see a situation when that means more than the result of the picture. :P

Just a shame I didn't time it right to see a whole field full xD

The Arena / Re: Gold rewards now higher that Platinum
« on: July 04, 2011, 10:58:23 am »
Which is now in itself absurd.

Harder decks for less reward or easier decks for bigger rewards?  :P

If people have any sense, they'll catch on and play gold decks for a while!

Rainbow Decks / Re: The Poisonbow
« on: July 04, 2011, 10:53:15 am »
Btw an adrealined scorpion deal only 2 poison counter even if he attacks 4 times (yeah it is a nerf).

Otherwise I'll remove one blessing and put a chaos power or two in this deck because you didn't use entropy quanta at all (except for SN off course but you get them back).
By scorpion, I mean Deathstalker. Hence, 4 poison.
Which is why I had blessing and adrenaline in my version.

Turn a 3 attack + 2 poison creature into 12 attack and 4 poison. :P

More damage than Ruby Dragon ;)

Add in a Neurotoxin and that poison counter jumps really fast!
