Religion / Quotes
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:10:14 pm »

Because they are awesome. They can be atheist quotes, Buddhist quotes, hindu, jewish, christian, or any other quotes regarding religion. I will post quotes for all of these because I can and because I like them ^^.

Especailly the atheist quotes. They make my laugh. Good times.

This quote...I'm not sure where it fits in. Its about christianity though....I'll just put it here:

Throughout most of the history of the Christian religion books were quite scarce -- prohibitively expensive and time consuming to make.... When one considers this, it seems absurd that the Christian religion somehow is founded on the idea that Bibles were to function as some kind of instruction manual to be kept, studied, and followed to the letter by all true believers.

Atheist:

Properly read, the Bible is the most potent force for atheism ever conceived.   Isaac Asimov

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?   Epicurus

There once was a time when all people believed in God and the church ruled. This time was called the Dark Ages.   Richard Lederer

Religion has actually convinced people that there`s an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do..And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever `til the end of time! ...But He loves you.   George Carlin

Blind faith is an ironic gift to return to the Creator of human intelligence.   Unknown

You are basically killing each other to see who has got the better imaginary friend.   Richard Jeni

Buddhist:

A dog is not considered a good dog because he is a good barker. A man is not considered a good man because he is a good talker.

Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.

He is able who thinks he is able.

He who experiences the unity of life sees his own Self in all beings, and all beings in his own Self, and looks on everything with an impartial eye.

He who loves 50 people has 50 woes; he who loves no one has no woes.

It is better to travel well than to arrive.

Hindu:

Prosperity is not for the envious, Nor is greatness for men of impure conduct.

The individual "I" exists for as long as there is desire for pleasure.

The formless Absolute is my Father, and God with form is my Mother.” God reveals Himself in the form which His devotee loves most. His love for the devotee knows no bounds.

When the world arises in me, It is just an illusion: Water shimmering in the sun, A vein of silver in mother-of-pearl, A serpent in a strand of rope.

Among the wealthy, compassionate men claim the richest wealth, For material wealth is possessed by even contemptible men.

Christianity:

I can't find anything good, so I'ma leave this blank. Don't take it personally. I really can't find anything XD

Tao Te Ching:

Heaven and earth are impartial;
they see the 10,000 things as straw dogs.
The sage is not sentimental;
he treats all his people as straw dogs.

Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power. If you realize that you have enough, you are truly rich.

When spring comes the grass grows by itself.

Governing a large country is like frying a small fish. You spoil it with too much poking.

Other:

You will remember everything the instant you desire it wholly. To desire wholly is to create.

You have so little faith in yourself because you are unwilling to accept the fact that perfect love is in you, and so you seek without for what you cannot find within.

Give faith to one another, for faith and hope and mercy are yours to give.

Only the self-accused condemn.

No one who hates but is afraid of love, and therefore must be afraid of God. He knows not what love means, he fears to love and loves to hate, and so he thinks that love is fearful, hate is love.

Religion / The Compendium of Beliefs
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:10:14 pm »

This forum looks like its going to get ugly, fast. So I would propose this: Everyone posts here on their believes. No comments on anyone else beliefs unless you need to have something they said clarified.

I'm starting this topic because even if we were all the same religion we would argue about what is right and what isn't. There are thousands of christian denominations, and not because they just felt like a change of name. So we might as well say what exactally we believe and how we intemperate things.

About The Religion
Deity Name: The Omega One
Describe who this deity is: He is an all powerful deity who governs fish.
Other deities involved: Serman, the fertile
Describe them: Serman is the demi-god of fish reproduction who makes sure all baby fishes know how to find their way home.
Holy land: The Amazon Rain Forest. It is not necessary to travel there in a fish’s life time.
Place of Worship: Waterfalls. Its traditional to jump them over and over and over again. Worship is complete when the fish finally jumps over the waterfall and continues upstream. There is no set time for worship, just whenever you come across a waterfall.
What does your deity require of you: To be fruitful and multiply, a lot.
Most important concepts/teachings: 1) Go with the flow. 2) Be as the water. No mater where it is, it always returns to the ocean, its place of origin and the lowest place.
What are some sins/misdeeds/evil things in your religion: To fail to go return home means the end of your line.
What is prayer/meditation for in your religion: Concentration at the waterfall is the only prayer/meditation.

Our Life
Who or What gives us life: The omega created all things in the beginning, but particularly the fish. The first fish was a great whale. Then Omega realized that if all fish were that size the oceans would be filled quickly, so he created more, smaller fishes, and then got creative and so we have things like manta rays and lantern fish. But the greatest creation was the freshwater fish. Small, durable, and the only ones with access to waterfalls, and so being, they are the priests of the world.
When does life begin: When eggs are touched by Sermans hand
When does life end: Freshwater: When the great bear (or equivalent) takes you and eats you. Saltwater: When the great shark (or equivalent) takes you and eats you.
What is the Soul in your religion: The soul is a small ball of energy that is contained in the eyes.
Purpose of this life: To be, and to let be.
What are we required to do in this life: To eat, and to be eaten.
Why are we required to do those things: Because it is the way of true balance.
Afterlife: You become another fish.

The World/Universe
Who made the world/universe: Omega
What was the world/universe created for: Entertainment. Why have an empty universe?
When was the world/universe created: Millions of years ago. There have been uncountable types of fish. Omega doesn’t just stop when he’s designed enough fish. He makes new ones.
How was the world/universe created: Omega simply willed it to be, and it was.
How (if relevant) does the world/universe end: When Omega sleeps, the world and universe are ended, and when he wakes up, it is born anew.
Why (if relevant) does the world/universe end: He sleeps, that’s why.
When (if relevant) does the world/universe end: When he gets tired.

Religion / Does God Exist?
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:10:14 pm »

It kind of depends on how you view the world at all. If you are like the christians, then no, there was first god. If you go with science and the theory of the big bang, then there already was something and there never was nothing. If you go from a Buddhist standpoint, the world is just an illusion and so what we are right now is technically nothing.

Of course, going back to the scientific viewpoint, everything actually is nothing since atom are 99% empty spac e and the 1% that isn't empty space is made up of more empty space, so that that everything is empty space already, we just perceive it to not be empty space. And so nothingness begets nothingness.

*But as for what I believe, I follow the flying spaghetti monster so it doesn't matter anyway.

ALL GLORY TO HIS NOODLY APPENDAGE!

*translation: I'm not telling.

Religion / Does God Exist?
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:10:14 pm »

If you've seen a diagram of an atom, with the electrons floating around and stuff, you see that its mostly just space. And the electrons, nutrons, and protons aren't actually blue, red, and yellow balls. Their just energy, just more space really.

So basically everything that exists is space. We experience it and so, to us, it exists. But if we didn't experience it, it wouldn't.

I suppose I'm saying everything exists if you see it that way. Otherwise you just see empty space. Something like that.

I am so going to be burned for this XD

Card Ideas and Art / Freezing

If you were to freeze it again, just do it on your turn. This just makes it so you can actually use your creatures that have been frozen.

General Discussion / So the ideal non-rainbow deck size is 30 cards?
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:10:09 pm »

Basically, unless you have time, you can only have an effective deck with 30 cards. Otherwise you usually don't get the cards you need when you need them.

A simple way to balance the game: If a creature is frozen, it unfreezes at the beginning of your turn, not at the end.
