Card Ideas and Art / Tuatara | Taniwha
« on: July 15, 2010, 01:08:07 am »
NAME:
Tuatara
ELEMENT:
:aether aether :aether
COST:
6 :aether
TYPE:
Creature
ATK|HP:
2|6
ABILITY:
Wove: The last spell used by your opponent becomes Taniwha’s active ability until used.
NAME:
Taniwha
ELEMENT:
:aether aether :aether
COST:
6 :aether
TYPE:
Creature
ATK|HP:
2|6
ABILITY:
Wove: The last spell used by your opponent becomes Taniwha’s active ability until used. Spells quanta use is now :aether
ART:
Scyther: Image was taken from a photo of a Tuatara I took. I then took this to a drawing tablet and traced it out then fantasising it to look more like a line drawn creature (thus I could get some of the propotions right). This is my first attempt at this so any suggestions would be much appreciated.
IDEA:
Scyther
NOTES:
Tuatara when using Wove the cost of the spell is exactly the same as the original (ie Drain Life is still 1 :darkness) Taniwha when using Wove the cost of the spell is numerically the same just uses :aether as the quanta (ie Miracle 15 :aether comsumes all your :aether) The main thing to remember is it only changes the cost of the card. Apart from Miracle (which I am still thinking about) you do not change the quanta written in the text of the card to :aether. Therefore Fire Lance, Drain Life, Stoneskin etc.. would still need :fire, :darkness and :earth respectively.
SERIES:
Not in a series Yet
Ok so a bit strange is this one but surely it can be talked about and discussed as an idea...

Changed the artwork.

Thanks

One reason I made this card was to deal with the Plague effect on a Hope Fractal deck (ie you lose all Photons|Ray of Lights) this card although situational in a lot of decks is a great help with this praticular one.

I am not 100% on how Adrenaline will effect it and what way to best manage that:

Adrenaline causes Ghoul to attack 4 times therfore gains 4 Hp and takes 4 Quanta from the opposition (providing it hits on every attack). This seems to be the status quo at the moment.

Ways to avoid this:

 1. Make Ghoul a 21 Attack creature...jk...
 2. Ghouls ability is only activated on the first successful attack (ie which ever one of the 4 hits)
 3. The poison impacts him on each attack (I think this is the way it would work anyway)

So I would hazard a guess that Ghoul with adrenaline would do as follows:

AttacksAttackAbilityQuantaPoisonResult
12 DamageGain 1 HpRandom QuantaPoison -1 Hp2|1
22 DamageGain 1 HpRandom QuantaPoison -1 Hp2|1
32 DamageGain 1 HpRandom QuantaPoison -1 Hp2|1
42 DamgeGain 1 HpRandom QuantaPoison -1 Hp2|1
So it would inflict 8 damage, remove 4 Random Quanta and be returned to 2|1 at the end of the turn taking into account it hits on everyturn. That seems to be the way it would work now.

I propose instead:

AttacksAttackAbilityQuantaPoisonResult
12 DamageGain 1 HpRandom QuantaPoison -1 Hp2|1
22 DamageGain 0 HpNo Random QuantaPoison -1 Hp2|0
So it would inflict 4 Damage, remove 2 Random Quanta and die at the end of the second turn as the ability is only activated on the first attack. This means if Ghould misses the first attack and is at 2|1 it would definately die.

Does this seem like a good idea for Adrenaline use on Ghoul?

Thanks

Necromancer: This card looked great until I saw the stats on the ghouls. It's pretty much fractal devourers on a stick. The ghouls drain quanta, have decent attack and gain more hp each time they attack. The ghouls need a serious nerf.

Ghouls have now had a nerf, they enter battle with a poison counter on them thus if at anytime they miss an attack they immediately die. They are also not effected by Eclipse. (I am redoing the actual card but will wait for voting to be over)

I like the idea though a weapon creating card, at least different to my idea. Could do with a revamp but I am unsure though.

Monk seemed to be the best bet for :light as it is about Prayer and Healing which is already in the :light repotoire.

I understand it is a mass use of :light in a similar way to Mircale but I wanted to look into a way to remove Poison from creatures and this seemed the best way. If I had have made it effect just one creature then yes it would have been only 2-3 :light but in this case it does all so a basic cost would have been OP.

Kael Hate: I have emailed rickbw and am waiting fro a response. I followed the rules posted about the use of his art and will also post his response once I have received it.

To answer the question yes they do stack if you have 3 of these out and you play apillar then you will get 3 Golems in play.

I'm sorry zac3333 I was unaware you had a card with a similar name. Any chance of a link?

To answer the OP debate, i am unsure if this is OP. Like already stated it depends on the amount of pillars played out and if your opponent waits and steals it fromyou then hey it is there gain. If you plan on saying it is OP then please inform me in which way you mean so I can taylor a solution to this.

Yes I understand it becomes immune to flooding but the main thing was it becoming immune to Eclipse and Nightfall as those would make these quite a bit stronger (ie Ghoul becomes 4|2)

Just to clarify it does not effect you. Only your creatures. So no it has no impact on Arsenic.

As a side note I am unsure how it would work with Aflatoxin but assume it would remove that too.

I didn't make it targetable as it then in my opinion becomes OP. This random way is great as it means you may lose that Dragon or not, up to a spin of the wheel not by choice.

Ok so thinking more on the Ghoul.

I think I will do the following changes:

Ghoul will become 3|1 Ability: Consume 1 Random Quanta per successful attack then gain 1 Hp. Comes into play with 1 Poison counter on it. Ghoul also is an Other card (not effected by Nightfall|Eclipse)

Elite Ghoul Will be 3|2 Ability: Consume 1 Random Quanta per successful attack then gain 1 Hp. Comes into play with 1 Poison counter on it. Elite Ghoul also is an Other card (not effected by Nightfall|Eclipse)

Does this meet with any approval?

Thanks

Ok so I agree that doubling the Quantum towers is not a good thing. Think Rainbow but twice as fast.

The idea iks sound and I like the way it only stacks with the upgrade thus negating the multiple of these in play. Although I think doubling is where you are going to get caught up.

Like this:

Quantum Tower Base 3x Random Quanta

Quantum Flux Generator (x2) = 6x Random Quanta

Quantum Flux Capacitor (x2) = 12x Random Quanta.

Do you see my point?

I know it expires after 4 turns and that is good but during that time you get 48 Quanta instead of 12 which is a vast gain. Also as it expires when it is stolen what is the effect, I assume it does not reset.

So in short I would say you should make it a plus 1 Quanta gain (Mark Pillars become 2 Quantum and Quantum Pillars become 4) and then when you synergise you still only get (Mark Pillars 3 Quanta and Quantum Pillars 5)

But that is just my thoughts on it. After all it is your card but the balance is tough to get with something like this.

Keep it up though.

Thanks

Actually it is the Third time it has been used, it was also used for Templars Solstice. But yes it seems to crop up a lot as it is a great image.

Thanks
