Rainbow Decks / The ULTIMATE False God killing deck!!!
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:33 pm »

I tried with and without novas and now i prefer without, its 2 random.
But the druids are excellence for this deck, so u can mutate skeletons or fireflies and get lot of damage potential, especially against miracle u run great with 1-2 druids.
My opinion about Supernovas changes pretty much daily. First I thought they sucked. Then I thought they were great. Then I thought they were useless. Now I think they are pretty good. They are very luck dependent but what I've seen, they help me against all the tougher Gods who have ways of removing permanents.

Take Seism for example. You put up 6 Quantum Pillars. Things are looking good. Then Seism uses 2 earthquakes and you have nothing! Now you have a hand full of expensive cards and no quantum is coming in. This is a situation that usually leads to quick loss. BUT when I have even one Supernova in my starting hand it helps a lot. When you get 2-3 at the same time, you generally don't need to worry about quantum anymore.

Against Gods who don't remove permanents, Supernovas are not that great. But those Gods are easier to defeat in the first place so who cares.

Rainbow Decks / Scaredgirl's Scarab Scavengers
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:33 pm »

I thought I already gave you screenshots? What more do you need? Do I need to make YouTube videos? Do you want to come by my house and see me play? :)

This deck has the same basic formula as the other one so it's no surprise that it works. It's a little better (faster) against some of the Gods, and a little worse against other. But all of them CAN be beat with this deck. And all with elemental mastery.

What you have to realize, is that I really don't care if anyone believes me or not. I'm not here to enlarge my e-peen or anything like that. I'm just here to chat with the community and share my ideas on this amazing game.

Instead of being suspicious, go try it. Scarabs are fun :)

WARNING! This deck was designed about 8 months ago when the game was very different. If you want to use it today, I recommend you make some changes to it

Scarab Scavengers*
*who do not have the "scavenger" ability

Graviton about to go down. Unfortunately no elemental victory because of his momentum weapon :(

This is a FUN deck I made that can be used to grind False Gods. It has the same basic principle I used in my "ULTIMATE" deck. It uses Sundials and Hourglasses to buy time while drawing multiple card each turn. Like my other deck, this deck is very weak early in the game but if you get 4-5 Scarabs on the table and have Feral Bonds, it's almost impossible to lose.

I have beaten all the False Gods with Elemental Mastery using this build. Graviton and Seism can be pretty tough but Rainbow and Scorpio are surprisingly easy, although I have lost to them both when I was unlucky with draw. Also you have to be very careful not to deck out which is always a problem with these kinds of decks.

Basic idea of this deck is that you play and duplicate a bunch of Scarabs, who then eat everything in their way. First you collect a handful of Scarabs and other cool cards, then you rush them all on the table at the same time and start eating!

Here are the cards:

Deck import code : [Select]
5rp 5rp 5rp 5rp 5rp 5rp 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 6qq 71b 71b 71b 71b 77d 77d 7am 7am 7am 7do 7q5 7q5 7qa 7qa 7qa 7qa 7qa 7qa 7t9 7t9 80b 80b 80b 8ps

There are some other cards that would be perfect to this deck, like Boneyard, but I didn't want a bunch of skeletons running around. After all this deck is about Scarabs. Momentum would be another great card to buff up Scarabs, but unfortunately it's bugged. When you duplicate a Scarab with Devour and Momentum, the new clone only has the skill Momentum and not Devour.

If you have Miracle, take it. It also might be a good idea to take one extra Heavy Armor so that you can push Scarabs out faster. If you take those two, take one extra Quantum Tower also.

Sundial x 6
Chain Sundials early in the game (one Sundial each turn) to keep from getting hit while you draw cards and collect quantum.

Quantum Tower x 14
To get quantum. When fighting Seism, play only one each turn. Otherwise he will Earthquake your whole stack.

Bone Wall x 4
Keeps you from getting hit. Remember to play BEFORE you start eating with Scarabs.

Heavy Armor x 2
Buff up your Scarabs to be able to have bigger meals.

Feral Bond x 3
This paired up with a bunch of Scarabs heals you and counters poison.

Firestorm x 1
Use to weaken enemies so that Scarabs can eat them.

Electrum Hourglass x 2
Draw extra cards which is very important in the beginning. Remember, Scarabs need time quantum too so don't overuse this. To prevent from decking out, stop drawing multiple cards when you have around 20 left in your deck (unless you have to in order to stay alive).

Scarab x 6
The star of the show. Do not play an individual Scarab (unless you can Heavy Armor him). Play them only when you can put about 4 on the table at the same time. Remember that many Gods have cards and abilities that do 3 damage, so that if you play less than 4, Scarabs might die.

Improved Steal x 2
Steal key permanents from opponent (listed below).

Twin Universe x 3
Duplicate your strongest Scarab. You can also duplicate enemy characters who do a lot of damage or have a good skill. For example it's a good idea to duplicate Miracle's Light Dragons which will double your damage and make you win faster. Remember to FIRST buff up a Scarab with Heavy Armor and eat and enemy, THEN duplicate him.

General Strategy Tips

Fighting False Gods

Incarnate    (Very Easy)

STEAL (early): 3 x Boneyard

Fire Queen    (Easy)

STEAL: 2 x Eagle's Eye (steal as soon as he plays them. Otherwise he will make them characters and you will have more problems) (do NOT steal Feral Bonds unless you are dying)

Miracle    (Easy)

DUPLICATE: Miracle's Light Dragon (for quicker victory)
STEAL: 1 x Light Tower (if you need white quantum), 1 x Shield (if he has the one you CAN steal), 1 x Jade Staff (makes him die faster)

Chaos Lord    (Easy)

DUPLICATE:
STEAL: 1 x Quantum Tower (only if you need quantum), 1-2 x Dissipation Shield

Gemini    (Moderate)

DUPLICATE:
STEAL: 1 x Lobotomizer, 1 x Phase Shield

Morte    (Moderate)

DUPLICATE:
STEAL: 1 x Boneyard, 1 x Arsenic (less poison on you)

Hermes    (Moderate)

DUPLICATE: 2 x Scarab, 1 x Hermes' Lava Golem (for more damage)
STEAL: 1 x Shield (slowly kills you characters if you don't), 1 x Fahrenheit (limits his damage and increases yours)

Seism    (Difficult)

DUPLICATE:
STEAL: 1 x Tower (target for his Earthquake), 1 x Diamond Shield (if you don't have better defense), 1 x Pulverizer (destroy his Shield or Towers)

Rainbow    (Difficult)

DUPLICATE:
STEAL: 1 x Electrum Hourglass (if you need), 2 x Eagle's Eye (when your characters are potential targets)

Scorpio    (Difficult)

DUPLICATE:
STEAL: 1 x Trident (if you can get it really early, destroy all his Pillars) OR 1 x Poison weapon (less poison), 1 x his shield (your characters won't freeze)

Graviton    (Difficult)

DUPLICATE:
STEAL: 1 x Gravity Shield (limits his damage a lot!) 1 x his weapon

Deck Help / My deck
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:33 pm »

ive actually thought about making a rainbow poison deck for farming gods. with sundials to help speed it up.

But it looks like it wont work until most of the deck is upgraded
I tried to do that the other day. I wasn't successful. Poison + Chrysaora + Parallel Universe sounded good on paper but didn't work so well in reality. Problem was that it uses too much death quantum.

If you figure out something that works, post it here on the forum.

You definitely need to take 6 sundials. You do mainly poison damage so it doesn't hurt you to have your characters not to attack.

Game Suggestions and Feedback / Turn Off Animation

I agree. I play a deck that has multiple card draws each turn and it's annoying to have to wait for that card slip animation.

This is the first and most important improvement I would make to this game. It would limit the luck factor which would be great.

@scaredgirl...

can you post your current deck?

thx
Right now I'm playing a version where I dropped all the Supernovas and instead took 1 more Quantum Tower and 1 Fallen Elf. So the total number of cards is 50. I like this smaller deck better because I have a better chance of getting Sundial at the right moment.

7773

Heheh... interesting deck... I'm running one that's kinda similar, so I haven't adopted it (since mine is working fairly well, and will probably get closer to yours organically anyway). The stats though are really REALLY useful... This deck and mine are similar enough that the stats give me a good idea when to just throw in the towel, and when to press on :)

For those as are interested, the main difference between my deck and Scarygirl's is that I have a LOT more creatures, haven't bothered with steal (but do have som PUs), and I've duped a few of the control cards. And I've some more pillars, which is always useful...
Adding more Pillars isn't always useful :) Deck building is all math, and at some point you will have too many Pillars. Sure it's fun to get a lot of them early on but what happens when you draw all Pillars in mid-game when you really need a Phase Shield? That's right, you die. Also more pillars means bigger deck which makes it too luck dependent.

With my deck I've been getting the best results with 18 Pillars. And also dropping those Novas seemed to help a lot. My main reason for adding them was that I like the sound it makes :)

I don't know your deck but I really suggest you reconsider Steal. It's one of the key cards in defeating most False Gods. Many of them have weapons and shields that can be used against them both offensively and defensively. For example if you steal Gravions shield, his goons do zero damage to you (unless they have momentum).

7774

Lol I just died from fighting Fire Queen XD I had used up all of my steals to take 3 Feral Bonds, and then it was my full field army against her full firefly/Queen army. I got a Bome wall with a 50-odd something power and then it was all downhill from there. I lost because, even with 4 Bonds, she had a 51-attack Fareighnheit. (spelling?)
Don't steal Feral Bonds. It's useless because she has so many. Instead steal 1 Green Pillar to get more green quantum. And steal her weapon to limit her damage.

Wait until you have at least 2 Otyugh/Mind Flayer on the table AND hopefully Boneyard. Then Use Rain of Fire to kill all Fireflies and use Otyugh/Mind Flayer/Eagle's Eye against remaining Firefly Queens. This will clear her table of all characters and her Feral Bonds won't heal her.

7775

Well ... this is the most interesting and difficult deck I've ever played - and it is great (far more interesting than Necropotence and 4cCrap - yeah I'm an old school M:tG pro tour player)
Don't play it while you are not completly sober - I just got a serious beating. ;)

Thank you Scaredgirl for this great combination of cards.
Just some thoughts and questions ...

I'm still somewhat of a noob - what should I upgrade after the Hourglasses?
Does it help if half of your pillars are towers against Seismic?
Using Lobotomizer and Miracle what would you suggest to replace Mindflayer, or what would be the best counter against Miracle spam (lost because I drew to many cards - or is it just my lacking play experience?) - These stupid gods don't lose when they are forced to draw nonexistent cards, lost against Rainbow when he had a card counter of -1 ... -.-
Fallen Elf does not seem to help much, any better ideas?

Even when I'm at the top of my game my win ratio is currently <30%, but I have the feeling it is mostly a routine(playing for 5 days now)/upgrade thing.

edit: my first game with your deck = 123 coins, 3 upgraded cards! :)

Gratz for winning 3 cards. That also happened to me once. It's pretty cool when it happens:)

After Hourglasses I would (and did) upgrade Otyughs. They are so much better with 5 HP. I also like my Mind Flayer updated early because with 4 HP he survives better against Rain of Fire, poison, etc. Then I would upgrade all the Pillars which unfortunately is a long process. Also upgrading Firefly Queens and Graveyard adds nicely to your overall damage.

Seismic and his Earthquake spamming has killed me many times. Having only some of the Pillars upgraded sure would help against him but it would be a disadvantage against other Gods. I don't know.. Last night I tried a strategy where at the beginning even when my starting hand had multiple Towers, I only played one at a time, letting him use up all his Earthquakes. It seemed to go well but I still ended up losing because of a bad draw.

Miracle spam is really annoying. Most important thing when fighting Miracle is to stop drawing multiple cards very early. Also if you have Lava Destroyer and get it early on the table, Miracle spam is not a problem. Fallen Elf is also a good anti-Miracle character.

You loss against Rainbow.. his deck can go to -1 but guess what? Next turn you would have won :) I have 2 ways of beating Rainbow. Either I get a good start and just hammer him down, or I go all defense and wait for him to run out of cards. He will run out of cards every time if he has many Hourglasses on the table (don't steal them!)

Fallen Elf is great in some situations while useless in other. What I like about it is that it can be used in both offense and defense. Upgrade your skeleton to get all kinds of fun characters with skills you can use (you have a rainbow deck after all). Or if your opponent has some nasty characters on the table just mutate them. This works better against non-rainbow deck False Gods who don't have all the quantums. I've had a situation where I mutated a nasty character to even more nasty character which ended up me losing the game.

You might want to try a version of the original deck where you remove all the Novas and take one Pillar instead. It just might improve you winning percentage. Good luck.

7776

but what do you do against high Otyugh? if he puts them out before you?  :-\
Graviton is the most difficult opponent with this deck. When he gets his Otyughs on the table before you can do anything is a bad situation.

Your best option is to go 100% defense and hope that you get Rain of Fire or Eagle's Eye soon. Steal his shield to stay alive a little bit longer.

When you get Rain of Fire, throw it at him and rush all your characters on the table. Now his Otyughs are weaker and cannot eat your characters. You can also weaken them with Eagle's Eye.

Only problem is that defense against Graviton can be difficult be cause he has momentum. That lobotomizer weapon might be a good choice if you want better odds against Graviton.
