Duo-Decks / Scaredgirl's Anti-Rainbow
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:36 pm »

Ok, I thought this deck would be invincible against rainbow deck but after about 40 matches I finally got my ass kicked.

I had a horrible draw where after drawing half my deck, I hadn't received ANY Dragons, Pulverizers or Shields. My opponent on the other hand had a great draw and was going crazy with FFQ's and all kinds of nasty damage dealers. There was nothing I could do.

Luckily there is a very small chance of that happening again so I still have confidence in this deck.

Anti-Rainbow

Yesterday I saw that most of the decks in top-50 look something like this: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,132.0.html (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,132.0.html) and it was getting boring to fight them.

Then I saw this post by Mr. Jellyfish http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,296.msg2251#msg2251 (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,296.msg2251#msg2251). I think with so many rainbow decks around today, it's a great idea to design an anti-rainbow deck. Here is my version of it.

When designing an anti-rainbow deck first question I asked myself was: "If I lose with my rainbow deck, what is the most common reason WHY do I lose?" The answer is pretty simple: My permanents get destroyed.  What element is the most efficient in destroying permanents? Earth. More specifically, Pulverizer. So I set out to design this deck around Pulverizer and here's what I came up with:

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
74d 74d 74d 74d 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 77b 77b 77b 77b 77c 77c 77f 77f 77f 77i 77i 77i 77i 8pl
Gravity Force x 4
Use this to take out enemy characters, like Fallen Druids.

Basalt Dragon x 4
Main damage dealer. If you want to play it safe, wait until you get Gravity Force in hand before playing. Otherwise opponent might play Fallen Druid and mutate your Dragon into something useless.

Diamond Shield x 2
Helps you to stay alive longer and possibly get elemental mastery win.

Pulverizer x 3
Most important card in this deck. You might be able to pull it off with 2, but 3 is definitely better. Use it to destroy enemy permanents like Hourglasses and Sundials. Destroy Pillars last. Do NOT play if you cannot use Protect Artifact on it at the same time.

Protect Artifact x 4
Second most important card. Most rainbow decks have Steal. Use this to protect your permanents, especially Pulverizer.
My mark is Gravity. (so I can use Pulverizer and Gravity Force).

Now you might ask why I didn't take Earthquake? I don't need it. It doesn't matter if the opponent can collect a lot of quantum. I'll just destroy all the Sundials and Hourglasses so he cannot draw any extra cards. And if he cannot draw any extra cards or use Sundials as protection, he has no chance even if he had 999 quantum of all elements.

As you can see this is a very simple and straightforward deck. Yet it's highly effective against different kinds of rainbow decks. I have fought 20+ matches against Rainbow decks in top-50 and I won ALL of them. Only problem with this deck is that it requires 2-3 upgraded Pulverizers and most players don't have them.

Here are some pictures of this deck in action:

This was a regular mark of time rainbow deck. I didn't kill that Otyugh because I felt sorry for him.

Another rainbow deck, this time with mark of air.

If you have any comments or suggestions, let me know.

It probably is the way to go, but there may be a fast godkiller out there, even if it doesn't win so often.

EDIT:Like your insta-win (well, 10 rounds) rainbow. Maybe there's another one, maybe there isn't.
Yeah, there are maybe hundreds of other decks that in some situation win really fast. For example my fast rainbow can beat all the Gods. I've done it myself. However you will usually lose and winning percentage is much much lower than with the ULTIMATE deck.

A good anti-God deck must be able to..

1. Beat all the Gods
2. Beat all the Gods consistently with a winning percentage of 50%+

That is not easy to achieve without Sundial/Rainbow. I would say it's impossible. But if someone has a deck that can do it, please prove me wrong.

Wait - there'll be new stuff soon, I'm sure.

As for the decks, keep your godkiller deck, use it to get money, and experiment. Try to build an anti-rainbow deck, try to try to build a godkiller deck that is fast, rather than scaredgirl's deck, which, while it's an amazing deck, is kind of slow. Rewards? Bragging rights.
Slow is the way to go.

With the current cards, it's impossible to have a deck that kills all the Gods fast. It just can't be done. You need Sundials and character control cards to survive that early barrage and when you have those, it's going to be slow, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Deck Help / Speed deck for farming AI

You have the same problem a lot of rainbow deck have - you are not using all elements.

Think about it. You have tons of different quantum that you are not using. If you had even ONE card from that element, ti would be basically free. But you don't have, so that quantum is wasted.

When designing rainbow, you can't just take a bunch of cards that look cool. You really need to think and use math to determine and balance out your quantum usage.

Here is my version of this kind of deck: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=232.msg1687#msg1687 (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=232.msg1687#msg1687)

Try it. you will see why having all the colors of the rainbow is much more efficient.

In t50 it's easy to beat a rainbow. Tried a fully upped mono fire against t50 (thx trainer) and it pwned everything, especially rainbows. Got some problems against a mono-dark, but I won due to AI stupidity (i think). Ended up with 27 wins 3 losses.

Still PvP =/= t50 so
Were you running that Fire Bolt deck or the one with creatures, 15/2 Dragons etc.?

Fire Bolt deck can beat rainbow pretty easily but the problem with that deck is that it's extremely boring. I don't think any normal person can play more than 5 matches with that deck.

The one with creatures, I don't think can beat rainbow quite so easily (especially against a human player) because rainbow has so much creature control and Sundials.

I mean, I really don't see how it benefits the game in any way.

Yeah, I agree. Having upgrades only means more grinding.

One way to solve this problem would be to have upgraded card be more effective BUT also more costly to use. This way upgraded deck wouldn't be so overpowered.

But in the end I don't have a big problem with upgrades because the game itself is amazing.

I prefer not to use Enchant Artifact, for the reason that you can use the AI's permanent removal strategy against itself. If you observe the decision-making process the AI uses to target your permanents, you will notice that it isn't random. I'll give you a hint: check the casting costs.
How does it help me if I know what permanent he is going to remove? There's nothing I can do about it even if I know what he is going to destroy or steal. Unless of course if I have Protect Artifact.

I have found that it's impossible to lose to Seism if you get Protect Artifact early on. And because I have 3 of them in my deck, I usually get one pretty early. If he cannot destroy your pillars and stopping your quantum production, he's done. Protect Artifact is also very good against Hermes and Rainbow.

False Gods / Near Death Encounter with the False God
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:35 pm »

Here is my near death experience with Gemini.

He is usually easy but his time he removed the gloves and really wanted me dead. I was struggling with multiple momentum enemies during the whole match. I almost died like 3 times, always saved by the last card.

This is my last turn. As you can see I have only 1 HP and no cards left in my deck, and Gemini has about 100 damage on the table. :)

I stole his Phase Shield and finished him. And you know what the best part is? You know what I got from the spinner?!

Nothing.

Oh! I didn't know that.

I want one even more now!
I had one. But I sold it to get an upgraded Quantum Tower. Probably wasn't the best idea now that I think about it :)

Rainbow Decks / The ULTIMATE False God killing deck!!!
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:35 pm »

I built the non-upgraded deck saturday and started grinding gods....Only won an upgrade or two, other rare cards that I got, I sold so I could pay to upgrade cards....I'm at about 8 upgraded cards right now (like 3 pillars, 3 hourglasses, supernova) and it's a touch easier.

some of the gods are damn near impossible to beat.  Seism is a huge pain in the ass.  I did get an EM win against him last night tho - got lucky and he was only able to drop a single tower first turn, and I got an armored Otyugh going before he dropped any creatures.  One thing I'm finding though is the lack of life quanta...With the Sundials needed to stay alive sometimes, and to draw cards, having the quantum for Miracle can be rough.  I'm sure once I upgrade more towers/Nova that will fix itself, but right now, it's a pain.  I'm considering adding a second Fire Storm (or whatever it's called) to clear the way - as some of the god decks - if they get an early start, you can't recover fast enough.

Otherwise, I'd say I've won 25% of my games so far with the mostly non-upgraded deck...Slowly going up with upgrades.

Thanks!
Second Fire Storm works pretty well. I'm also playing with 2 right now. What I like about 2 Fire Storms is that sometimes you can fire them both at the same time killing everyone who has less than 7 HP.

With 2 Fire Storms I had to take out Lava Golem (again) but took Elite Graboid to take his place (because "fall guy" characters are needed). I also dropped one Phase Shield.

If you play with non-upgraded deck, it might be a good idea to drop Miracle. I can barely afford it with upgraded Pillars and reduced cost of 12. You will most likely die before you can collect that 15 light quantum needed.

Shard of Divinity also is a very good addition to this deck. It helps me stay alive a bit longer and works well with Miracle.
