Rainbow Decks / [[[ Instant Win Rainbow Deck ]]]
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:37 pm »

Raid and I both tried out the new version in lvl 3 and against gods. We both love it  quite a bit. Though I did modify it and even more when I tried the fast version against gods. I couldn't even pull of a win or get close (got a few to 100hp at best but I was just about dead anyway) but Raid won once against Rainbow and then not at all.

Overall I gave it a high 6 to low 7 out of 10 but after playing it a while its around a 8-9/10 just cause it farms so darn fast. 8 lvl 3 games in 3 min or so
Yeah, I wouldn't use this deck for anything else than grinding level 3. It's way too luck dependent against Gods because unless you get an awesome hand, you will lose for certain.

taking back my reply - i was just really unlucky
i've been playing non-stop now and just lost 1 more time - won about 20

well i fought against those chrysoaor (those annoying poison spitters) in combination with ice -
had no chance to do anything, since i didn't get good cards

unsure about ur new version : bone wall is really nice, even more if u use thunderstorm
does poison really make up the difference in defense?
btw against poison builds i'd use purify all the way, or you'll end up with 10 poison marks
and i think you should use more light quantum
The new version is all about damage. There are no defensive cards. Zero. This will make you die faster but also make the other guy die faster. I've never lost to level 3 with that deck but I have all cards upgraded so maybe that helps.

You are right about Poison, it's nothing special. I took it for 2 reasons: It's CHEAP and it's DEATH, and there are no better fast damage cards in death.

I'm using zero light quantum with the new version so yeah, I should use more :) Problem is again that there are no good fast damage cards in Light. Take Morning Glory if you have it. You will have 2 weapons but just use whatever comes first.

Duo-Decks / Scaredgirl's Anti-Rainbow

As most of the decks in the top 50 have no spell protection, and at most one miracle and one purify (more usually one or t'other), I ran this deck against them.  Like the mono-fire, it's dull to play, and slow, but if you come up against the SSG (standard scaredgirl), it's essentially guaranteed victory.

Mark of Death
6xPoison
6xFirebolt
2-4xRain of Fire
Fahrenheit
Fiaahhh pillahhhz.

Most of the defences of the T50 rainbow decks consist of Sundial.  So weapons and spells are the way I went here.
The main reason it works is the fast guaranteed damage of the poison, and the creature control/direct damage of fire bolts.  You can definitely run this deck without rain of fire.  Do NOT play Fahrenheit early, treat it as a one-shot damage card, because if you play fahrenheit early even the AI will dimly register that teh big shinee sawed might well be useful and nick it.

Also note: the AI does NOT know how to play the T50s deck well.  You will be creamed if you try using this deck against a player.  I don't put any creatures in, because creatures are essentially otyugh fodder.

Putting Deflag/Explosion in, or Immolation for faster damage tended to make the deck too complicated, so I avoided it.  Ditto for upgraded Bone Wall - if you got it in the late game, it tended to get destroyed quickly, early in the game, it was too expensive even at just 5 death to bother playing.  Arsenic has a tendency to get stolen.  So...that's my Top50 deck.  Have fun grinding those valuable quantum pillars - you may win an Otyugh if you're lucky.
I tried a similar deck, only I didn't use that mark of death/poison which is a great idea. But like you said it's really slow and dull to play. I really need some creatures to make this game interesting.

I think my Earth deck is just as effective, only much faster and more fun to play because you can totally shut down any rainbow.

the SSG (standard scaredgirl),
lol, she will be happy for this
His profile says he's a guy, age 31. o-o
That's not true. I'm an innocent 19 year old girl.

Deck Help / Dark/Aether?
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:37 pm »

Take 6 Novas to get 6 earth quantum? That's not very effective now is it? You know.. filling up card slots and all..

Most logical choice would be to take mark of Earth (old trick) because it guarantees 1 earth quantum each turn. This way you will get those Devourers into hiding with a higher probability. You could also take some cheap cards from earth like Protect Artifact or something.

Other option would be to take 3 earth Pillars.

Last option would be to forget earth quantum and pray that the opponent doesn't have or cannot use crowd control.
Well see he doesn't have any Dark pillars, so mark of earth would mean he couldn't play any devourers.

3 earth pillars would work too though :)

I was thinking with novas though he could fiddle around and find some use of the other quantum (whether it be faster devourer/aether output or some other cards)
Ah, yes... I didn't see that. My deck reading skills are very limited unless there's a picture. :)

Then I would say that this deck definitely needs Dark Pillars. I don't think mark of Darkness is enough to pay for 6 x Devourers and 4 x Steal. That's 20 dark quantum is total so if would take 20 turns. And it's important to get those Devourers on the table early in the game as fast as possible, which is impossible with only mark.

Maybe try fiddling around with novas? 6 could give you all the earth quantum you need.

I don't know, i can't figure out a way to make novas effective... but maybe you could?

Looks to me you might have a problem with enemy crowd control. One Otyugh would eat everything you put on the table.

Don't you need earth to get those Devourers in hiding?

General Discussion / Elements ala World War II
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:37 pm »

Imagine elements used a WWII thematic, what would the cards names be?

FFQ - aircraft factory
Rain of Fire - big nuke
Shrieker - submarine
Sundial - cease fire
Graveyard - barracks
Skeleton - conscript :)
Haha that's a great idea :) I love the Shrieker/Submarine.

But wouldn't FFQ be batter as Aircraft Carrier? Factory cannot fight like FFQ does :)

And Graveyard would be better as Field Hospital or something. You know, wounded people go in.. non-wounded ones come out. Although it wouldn't work if you have more than one Hospitals.

I have a couple more:

Devourer - Spy
Mind Flayer - Saboteur
Immolation - Kamikaze Pilot
Lycanthrope - Recruit
Guardian Angel - Medic
Sapphire Charger - Tank
Parallel Universe - Nazi Experiments
Fallen Elf - Nazi Scientist
Otyugh - ??

Wow, 5 minutes after reading this thread I went to fight top-50 and my first opponent had this kind of deck.

I won Arsenic and almost (2/3) Pulverizer. Dammit I need that Pulverizer.

Anyways thanks to the person who did this (he's not the one mentioned earlier). I'm not going to name him so he won't get into trouble, although I cannot see why he would.

General Discussion / Can you deck out a god?
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:37 pm »

Really? I've seen him put down ~10 hourglasses. Could never steal all of those and need steals for his Eagle Eyes.

Though I have- on occasion- stolen a glass if I didn't draw one of my own.
He goes crazy with Hourglasses if you give him time. But sometimes he gets a bad draw and has only 1-2 Hourglasses early in the game. If you steal those it's like cutting of his arms and you'll get easy victory.

That being said, I almost never steal Hourglasses and save my Steals for his Eagle's Eye.

I would imagine Pulverizer with Protect Artifact would be amazing against Rainbow. Just destroy all his Hourglasses and gg.

General Discussion / Where is the challenge?
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:37 pm »

ps: scared girl your deck is good but its a bit weird how you self announce it as your ultimate deck all the time : D

Yeah, I've heard this one before.

I never said it was "deck of all time". Why I call it ultimate? Well, I strongly believe that with the current cards we've been given, this deck is the best against False Gods. Sure there are many variations but the basic principle in all of them is the same. Also I'm a big UFC fan so that might have an affect :)

If you have a problem with the word "ultimate", then you my friend have ego issues. Everyone wants to be the best, and when someone else introduces something that works, their egos can't handle it. But don't worry, there's a lot of that going on in online gaming, and once you get older, you learn to take things less seriously :)

It's actually pretty funny how much hostility and "who do you think you are?" type of replies you get when all you want to do is help new players. :)

Deck Help / Mono-Light Deck - Sundials, Animate Weapons etc.
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:37 pm »

Very cool idea.

I've been trying to do something with upgraded Sundials for some time now but haven't really found anything good because Light creatures are pretty bad. I had no idea that Morning Glory would be immortal as flying weapon which makes it pretty damn good.

For the past 2-3 hours I've been trying on trainer all kinds of decks based on this Morning Glory + Flying weapon. This is the best I could come up with:

Mark is Fire.

I simplified your version by getting rid of some cards and instead took Diamond Shield, Protect Artifact and Explosion because I really think you need..

1. A way to destroy permanents (Phase Shields, Hourglasses, Sundials)
2. A shield.

Now you might not need a shield if you have multiple Miracles. I couldn't test it because trainer doesn't have them. If I had 4 Shards of Divinity and 4 Miracles I could probably drop all Earth cards and just keep spamming Miracle.

I dropped all the dragons and angels because I didn't want to give my opponent anything to target. You could also take 1 Fire Storm if you wanted to get rid of those Fireflies etc.

Here is this deck in action:

Epic battle against top-50 rainbow (which I lost).

Yeah.. this deck needs Miracle :)
