Rainbow Decks / Unstoppable Immortal Dragons
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:09:48 pm »

I'm testing a combination of this idea with the anti-gods rainbow deck

Well, that's a totally different deck. You are basically playing a anti-God rainbow with quantum Towers and Anubis while mine is Time deck with some rainbow in it. Also you don't have momentum (which you do not need).

But yeah, I can see how that would work. Have you considered Flying Weapon? It might work with all those extra Pulverizers you have there.

How do you think this deck would work vs devourers and earthquakes/explosion/conflagration/etc.?
Permanent destruction is not a big problem because I have 3 Protect Artifacts. I usually protect one Hourglass and then my shield and weapon. Or if I'm facing earth deck, then of course Protect my Towers in case he has Earthquake.

Devourers are a bigger problem because I don't have much non-time quantum to spare. There's 5 Novas and I use about 1-3 quantum from each element so if Devourers go crazy on me, yeah that can be a problem. I can deal with them using Congeal, Improved Plague or Eternity, which ever I have available. Nothing amazing but it does help. But even if they do drain me, I still have a chance if I can just get those Dragons on the table fast.

Very interesting, but I like the Pulverizer deck more, honestly, thought it IS much harder to build.=/ This deck would do very well, but I think it's quite vulnerable to bad draws, and with only three Hourglasses and limited light quantum (I have this problem with my current God Farming deck), you may not get the draw control you need. =/
Draw control is not a problem. 4 Hourglasses and 4 Sundials in a deck of 46 is quite enough. It's true that you don't always have the quantum to use Sundial 2 times, but that hasn't been a real problem.

Speed decks can be a problem if I get a bad starting hand (like with most decks). One option is to change to mark of Time and take 6 Sundials, like I suggested there earlier. That would help against speed decks and you would be able to draw more cards.

I'm still testing this, only had about 20-30 matches but so far it's working pretty well. It's also a bit more challenging than that earth deck which is always nice because I get bored so fast :)

Mark is TIME. You can also play this with mark of Light and 6 Sundials.

BASIC IDEA OF THIS DECK
This deck is based on two things: immunity to permanent removal and immunity to character control. Most rainbows out there have tons of Steal, Otyughs, Fire Storms, etc. and with this deck you can make those cards virtually useless.

This is deck basically a Time deck but with some Novas, and a couple of cheap cards from other elements, so it has also some rainbow in it.

I'm using only 2 characters: Anubis and Silurian Dragon. The idea is to first play Anubis and make him immortal. Then play dragons, give them momentum and make them immortal as soon as you play them. This way you will have these awesome 14/5 immortal momentum dragons that are very difficult for your opponent to deal with.

Nova
I used non-upgraded version because I only need 1-3 of each quantum. Now I can also have mark of Time which helps a lot.

Sundial
Use early in the game for protection against speed decks.

Improved Plague
If your opponent has a table full of characters, this is a nice way to get rid of them.

Unstoppable
Use this on Dragon BEFORE you make him immortal.

Protect Artifact
Protect your permanents. Do NOT play shield or weapon unless you have this card ready.

Explosion
Destroy permanents such as weapons, Sundials and Hourglasses. Don't destroy shields.

Congeal
Use this to get rid of that 0/11 Otyugh or False Druid before you move your Anubis on the table.

Elite Anubis
Play Anubis BEFORE you play Dragons. Do NOT play unless you have at least one Aether quantum. You need to make Anubis immortal the next turn.

Improved Steal
I like to Steal Feral Bonds to get some mch needed healing.

STRENGTHS:
- good deck to counter rainbow
- immunity to permanent removal
- immunity to any kind of character control (non-targetable characters)
- 14/5 Dragons with momentum who ignore all shields
- Eternity with lots of time quantum to reverse any enemy characters
- no decking out

WEAKNESSES:
- has no healing
- fast decks might cause problems unless you draw Sundials early on
- poison

CUSTOMIZING IDEAS:
- try with 2 Eternity if you have them
- take one extra Dragon
- take more Sundials and/or Towers
- take some other cards from Time
- change your mark to Entropy, take Supernovas, and take some more expensive cards like Feral Bond

Here it is in action against top-50. As you can see, I have Protected all my most important permanents so he cannot steal anything. I have all but one of my characters immortal and 2 of them has momentum. I cleared the table with Eternity. That poor AI never had a chance.

If you have any suggestion or questions, let me know. Have fun.

I don't see the point of everyone starting a new thread where they show "their" decks which are almost identical to the ones already posted. This will just clog up the forum and make it more difficult to read.

If you have something new to bring on the table, then by all means share it with us, but this deck looks almost like a carbon copy of previous decks so what is the point? If you want to posts your VARIATION of that previous deck, I suggest you post it on that previous thread.

Yea momentum creatures are another problem.  Anubis sometiems too.  I pretty much save my plagues for those, just in case.  Anubis is actually common lately in rainbow decks.  I could delay you a little while, but elite chargers eventually eat my face.  I might take out 3-4 pillars for 3-4 fire lance.  Then all I'd need is 91 fire quantum to deal 27+27+24+24 = 102 damage - or 3 fire lance I'd need 110 quantum for 36+33+33 = 102 damage..  I think with plagues and sundials I'd have a shot at saving that much fire quantum before being overrun by momentum decks. Maybe.
I like the idea of having Fire Lances. What about having 2-3 Fire Towers? Maybe not..

Do you need half your Towers non-upgraded? I would imagine you can protect them quickly since you have 6 Protect Artifacts. If you had all Towers upgraded, that would mean extra 42 random quantum, assuming you get to play them all. That would help get that fire quantum faster (not much but every quantum counts).

I made this deck to counter rainbows, not your deck, but I just realize that it would be a perfect counter because you have no way of dealing with immortal momentum characters. You might survive a little longer if you get protected Eternity on the table before I get a chance to play Anubis, but then all I have to do is play 2 Anubis at the same time and it's gg.

Also why not take couple of Poison? Unless the opponent has purify, he will slowly but surely die.
Empathic bonds (and/or jade staff) counters poison

Yeah, so it does. I forgot about that one.

yeah you definitely should take that Explosion. If the opponent has Eternity, it will be an endless match.

Wow.. that's.. that's an annoying deck :)

How do you have the patience to play that? I would probably go crazy. :)

Well usually I find 1 stealing creature to be enough.  With 2 druids you can mutate quite a bit, the biggest issue is making sure the druids don't die, and that you have enough creatures, I think more often I'd PU a deja vu creature, for more mutating flack.

What I worry about with the PU is when the only creatures out are the opponents... usually in this deck the early game determines victory or failure, if you can succeed in gaining control of the board.  Offense is the smaller concern.
I didn't mean you have to have 2 characters with the ability Steal. My point was that with PU you can duplicate the best mutant you (or the opponent) have there, depending on what you need at that moment.

For example I've beaten Graviton like this: He had a bunch of Otyughs and Firestarters on the table and I had nothing. Then I..

1. Used PU on his Otyugh
2. Used Fire Storm
3. Used Sundial to prevent him from killing my new Otyugh with Gravity Force
4. Started eating!

PU is also perfect against Miracle because he likes to buff up one of his Dragons to something like 20/20. then you just PU that Dragon and the fight is over much faster. You can also use this PU trick to prevent him from using Miracle at all.

I used 3 x PU in my Scarab deck and found it to be very versatile and fun card. I don't know if you have tried it with this kind of rainbow but you should. Especially because you have nothing from Aether and all the quantum is just sitting there.

It's true that PU would be nice in filling that niche and is often useful.  But I wonder if too many times there wouldn't be a good creature to PU.
You have 2 Falled Druids, those guys create all kinds of useful creatures. My favorite is a Dragon with Steal. You PU that and the God just lost the game.
