Thanks for the suggestions. I skipped on purpose all ideas for active abilities because I need to do the big picture things first, like the passive ability that they all share. I will read all ideas later though.

I thought about a new name and I think "Construct" is pretty good, but if you have a better one, lets hear it. Here's an example:



Hmm.. how about a passive ability that has many different functions based on RNG so that every round one of the following happens (some ideas stolen from this topic)

50% Construct works like a charm!
10% Construct overheats and does not attack.
10% Construct malfunctions and cannot use its ability.
10% Construct gets confused and joins opponents side.
10% Construct runs out of battery and must be recharged (goes back to your hand).
10% Construct is destroyed.

We could then have the 'Other' "Repair Droid" that could fix the first two problems problems.

Something like that.

Constructs are coming!

Um.. what?
Yes, Constructs are here! Constructs are a 13-card set of cards, each with a shared passive ability and a unique active ability. They are slow, unreliable and break down, but they punch hard if you are lucky enough to get them operational.

Why Constructs?
Very simple. Because I can produce acceptable looking art using Constructs, and my ultimate goal is to make the art so good that it could be added to the game. Not very likely of course but don't crush my dreams! :) So the sole reason is lack of my artistic skills, not the the fact that I think Constructs would be awesome in Elements, although they could be, and we already kind of have them (Steam Machine).

Ok. So these Constructs were built by some ancient super-smart architect who left them rot somewhere for thousands of years. Now the Constructs are back with a vengeance, but only problem is that they don't work as well as they used to.

So we have 13 Constructs, one per element + other. That other Constructs is weaker and smaller than others. Maybe it's a kind of "Repair Droid" that fixes other Constructs? Zomg! Anyways, all Constructs share some cool passive ability, and all will have their own unique active ability.

Here are a couple of images to give some idea on what the art might look like. All 13 cards are of that similar style, although the final result will be a bit more dirty and gritty.

Repair Droids. Special cards whose only purpose is to repair broken down Constructs.

Cards above are pretty much random placeholders at this point.


How can I help?
You can help me by coming up with a good passive ability. Key thing with these Constructs is that they are old, rusty and broken down. I'd like something that is related to things breaking down (like percentage of Construct getting destroyed or lobotomized), slow set up time (like counter before the robot is active), things like that. Or maybe it uses something unique as "fuel"? I haven't thought about it much myself because I thought I'd let the community come up with something and then just steal that idea. :)

So if you have something cool, please share. Thanks.

I like it. It's simple and makes sense.

The theme works but I think the more common way to spell the word is "Gaia".

What I don't like is the fact that it doesn't stack, which is something all cards should do imo. This could be fixed by adding a duration, like suggested before, which would would make it pretty much perfect.

Sky blitz consumes all air quanta so how do you wanna play this spell with skyblitz?
I know diving still can but it's not really air-like

Hmm ... very well. I've come to the conclusion that the card has a problem with the lack of a theme, and the largely different mechanics between card versions.

I think Hand Increase could be renamed 'Focus' and turned into a Light or Aether card. Hand Decrease should be renamed to 'Dementia' and turned into a Death or Darkness card.

I think Hand Increase has more problems than Hand Decrease, so I'll remake Hand Decrease first.

Thoughts on this? And how about the name and element for Hand Decrease?
Hmm.. I think "Focus" is fine.

I'm pretty sure that "Dementia" is a medical term produced by modern science, so it doesn't fit really well in a fantasy setting. Then again we do have Schrödinger’s Cat.. I think something like "Mental Decay" would sound better.

But I think something that is right opposite to focus would fit even better, like "Disorientate" or something.

Not bad. Easily the best one so far in the PC series.

I have some concerns over the insane flexibility of the card though. I mean this is a card that does everything. No matter what the opponent has, you can use this card effectively, which makes it very powerful. It just adapts so much better than any current card in the game. It definitely needs a cost increase imo.

Also, why is it not simply called "Regeneration"? Feels weird that it's a spell with a regeneration effect but it's called something that sounds like a UP version of Heal.

Other than those two, looks good. Now all it needs is better art and this idea could go far. :)

The theme is way too close to Sky Blitz. Thematically they mean the same thing, but with different words. Also, I don't see how something that sounds like military strategy (Aerial Assault) could be a permanent. Sky Blitz is a spell which makes much more sense.

As for the mechanics, it looks pretty good to me. Only problem is though that since there are so few creatures with the Dive ability, this card is a bit too much tied down with Sky Blitz and :air. It's a kind of card that is almost always paired up with 1-3 specific cards, and/or one specific element, which seriously limits it's awesomeness in deckbuilding. This is way too much of a "lets buff :air" card than it is a complex and interesting card that all elements could use in duo and trio decks.

Summary: Theme is all wrong. Mechanics are ok, but not flexible enough.

I will not vote for this idea but it does not make me narrow-minded. I don't vote for this idea because, like mentioned before, this is just "Explosion when you have X Mark.". I find that mechanic to be pretty boring because there are a million different and totally unique ways to handle permanent destruction. Using something we already have, would be silly. I like new cards that are new, not new cards that are alternative versions of cards we already have.

This is not the only way to do permanent destruction and to balance PvP. The fact that Deflag destroys one permanent, does not mean it is the ultimate PC and no other card can ever achieve the same. For example the quick idea I posted in this same topic would be better than Deflag in certain situations. And there are dozens of other similar ideas posted on the forums.

If other elements want PC, they need something different. Giving Deflag to all elements would be nothing more than bad game design.

Id like it to be a mirror with some kind of demonic creature in the reflection, and for mirror demon, the creature in the reflection outside of the mirror with the mirror shattered (or without the mirror if its easier)
