Elements Tools / Re: Random Deck Generator

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!  I'm having an absolute blast using this; it's just so much fun! :)

So, I'd like to share two decks I got out of this; one good deck, and one completely hilarious, but fail deck.

Dirk is the upgraded form of Dagger. :P

Could you define a little better what 'leaves the game' means?  Does that indicate the 'draw a card' effect is triggered when Reverse Time is played on it?

Also, if word compression is an issue, you could go something like:

"Cannot be fractal'd.  When played, add pillar to target stack.  When destroyed, draw a card."

In-game Troubleshooting / Re: Cards Lost?
« on: December 21, 2011, 03:42:11 am »
You had both your work and home computer logged into Elements?  That's a recipe for disaster.

Elements saves your MOST RECENT session of play;  because it last saved on your home computer, which did not have the cards you bought while you were at work, you lost everything you did while you were at work.

The save system in Elements isn't 'dynamic' per se.  While you can play on one computer, leave it alone on said computer for several hours, and come back to it like everything was normal, you can't do it with multiple computers.

Card Ideas and Art / Re: Crystal Golem | Diamond Golem

Seeing that this card functions similarly to both Forest Spirit (balanced 1/1 at 2 :life ) and Lava Golem (attack-based 5/1 at 5 :fire ), I would see this card being the health-based of the group, having stats (unupped) closer to 2/4 with a cost of 3 or 4 :light.  The upgraded version could look something like 3/6 at 4 :light.  I don't want this card starting with so much attack power because of it's ability to reflect spells; it would then become OP if it did.

Would something like Eternity/Reverse Time, Owl's Eye, and Plague still hit the Golem?

Level 3 - Armory / Re: Level 3 - Armory - Permanents
« on: December 16, 2011, 11:57:54 pm »
I do enjoy a lot of these permanents, as a lot of them are pretty awesome; my votes, however, went straight for the popular ones. :P

 :rainbow QUANTUM PENDULUM :rainbow

Everyone else has a pendulum; why not the Other/Quantum Tower?  Not to mention it could provide an alternative to Nova decks. ;)

 :water WINTER :water

I can totally see this card getting used a lot; I can't stress enough how badly I've wanted to shut down an opponent's Eternity or Owl's Eye and couldn't do it.  This card can go into any type of deck without slowing it down too much, and it deals a good amount of damage for its cost.  I like. <3

 :gravity MAGNET :gravity

Poison Trap would have gotten my vote if I felt the Upgraded version wasn't overpowered (neurotoxin = shutting down ANY chance at PC).  Magnet, on the other hand, forces the attack unto itself while not creating making every PC card dead to the opponent; I mean, who's going to pack enough Magnets to accomplish something like that anyway?  Did I mention the part that it's a perfect fit for Gravity to synergize with other Elements?

:water SCRYING POOL :water

I love the concept of being able to discard cards (like the Discard card) and shuffling your deck.  I'm not sure how good this card would be for smaller decks, but it would play in a very interesting fashion for larger decks. :)   Not to mention that being able to see the top/next card in your deck helps to decide whether or not you want to use the ability.  It's an aptly-named card with a perfect ability.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Introduction
« on: December 16, 2011, 04:10:41 pm »
No deck in the arena has more than 6 of one card in it (less pillars/pendulums, obviously).  However, if they have double dexterity, a 35-card deck becomes a 70-card deck; thus, Arena decks, when you face them, can have up to twelve of one card in their deck, much like False Gods. :)

For example, lets say you created an Arena deck that had 5 Heals in it when you create it.  If you did NOT give yourself double dexterity, your Arena deck would only have those 5 Heals in it.  However, if you gave yourself double dexterity, your Arena deck would now have 10 Heals in it.

Aether / Re: Your Favorite Aether Card
« on: December 16, 2011, 01:43:01 am »
Yay!  Time to describe (sort of) my favorite cards from my favorite Element! ^_^

I'm going to be a tad lazy about the first one and just bring this back up again (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,6472.msg462076#msg462076) because I already went and described my first pick there.  If you've already read it, or just don't want to click on the link, let me tell you that it is:

:aether PARALLEL UNIVERSE :aether

Next on the to-do list is the poll favorite:

:aether DIMENSIONAL SHIELD :aether

It's not a big surprise that this is the top favorite among the public; you name another shield that not only stop every creature from damaging you (except for Sapphire Charger and a flying Titan, because they're jerks :P ), but can also go into any deck type (mono/duo/etc).  I'd add more, but... what else can I say about this beast of a card that hasn't already been said?  <3 Dimensional Shield.

Now it's time to give some love for the least loved Aether card (according to the poll):

:aether IMMORTAL :aether

Remember when you first started playing Elements, and were looking at the descriptions of each element, wondering which one to take?

The Immortal is THE definition card for Aether; not only is he aptly named, he matches the description provided at the start of the game.  As a plus, he looks totally awesome! 8)  The poor guy (girl?  it?  Are we sure about this? XD) just needs some love so he'll get used more often (or maybe Immortal's gotten too smug about his 'immortality' over the years). :)

There's nothing like kicking butt and taking names, all the while being virtually untouchable; pay your respects to the Immortal today. ;)

Time / Re: Favorite Time Card!
« on: December 13, 2011, 05:48:20 pm »
The two cards I voted on (and surprised to see little love for) are:

 :time REVERSE TIME :time

A card I wish I had more use for in my Rainbow decks. :(  Not only does this card remove creature buffs (thus potentially creating a plethora of dead cards), it puts the creature back where it belongs; the owner's deck.  This not only slows down the enemy's advance, it also delays them from drawing all-important cards; the Golden Hourglass may be the champion of moving Time forward, but never forget that Time works both ways. ;)  With the power to slow down, delay, and even stop the opponent for a low cost, you're looking at a very resourceful and timely card; or, if you're on the receiving end of one, a deal-breaker.

 :time ANUBIS :time

Keeping the creatures in my Rainbow decks alive since 1997, this handsome gentlemen gives a beating and keeps on ticking. 8)  As slow as it may be to get him started, you'll soon find yourself in the winning position when all your creatures no longer be the victims of your enemies' whim (except for shields; but nobody's perfect).  The Elite version of the Anubis gets even better with his Immortality costing from 2 :aether to 1 :aether, making it even easier for you to create the invincible army of your dreams.  At 5/8, he can stand alone in some of the worst conditions; once the Aether arrives, have fun trying to get rid of him and his companions.

Gravity / Re: Synergies with Gravity
« on: December 11, 2011, 07:08:35 am »
I can't comment on the Synergies of Gravity all that well, because I don't frequent with Mono/Duo decks; it's because of all the time I spend with rainbow decks.  Forgive me. :(   However, while playing around with said decks, I have noticed a few cards from the other elements that do well with the likes of the Heavyweight Element of the game.  Allow me to start with the Elements I voted in the poll:

 :aether AETHER :aether

Not surprising anyone, Aether is my first choice for Gravity.  Aether has FOUR cards that work alongside Gravity:

  • Quintessence - Invincible creatures that simply dominate on the field of battle (Sapphire Charger/Otyugh/Titan)
  • Parallel Universe - Aether laughs at the six-creature-card limit (Sapphire Charger/Titan/Armagio/Colossal Dragon)
  • Dimensional Shield - Bypass enemy defenses while stopping them from getting past yours (Sapphire Charger/Catapult)
  • Fractal - See Parallel Universe (Sapphire Charger/Armagio/Graviton Mercenary)
Aether turns the already devastating Gravity Element into a war machine in a way no other Element can; whether you need an offensive boost, or a defensive save, Gravity's got Aether's support.  It's not cheap to do so, but once the cards are played, you'd better hope the inevitable isn't coming after you.

 :entropy ENTROPY :entropy

The public vote for Entrophy so far has been about the combination of Discord + Black Hole, and it's a bit obvious to see why that is.  However, that's not why I voted for this Element; I've got two words for you:

Chaos Power

Sure, Blessing can do the same thing (and sometimes better), but the immediate availability and readiness of Chaos Power gives it a distinct advantage.  Being able to play this off your Mark alone means being able to play one or two of them quickly on one or two creatures within the first few turns. :)  Chargers, Titans, and Otyughs will easily benefit from the swift moves of the chaotic strengths, suddenly become more dangerous than they already are;  heck, any creature benefits from the effects of Chaos Power (though some more than others, as previously mentioned).

I could make an argument for Maxwell's Demon + Gravity Pull, but I've never tried that out.  If someone has, feel free to comment on it; I'm a tad curious about it myself.

 :fire FIRE :fire

Fire's massive CC arsenal is just begging to be called upon, and with good reason; it turns gravitational force into a weapon of mass destruction.  Rage Potions are useful with several Gravity creatures, while Rain of Fire and Fire Bolt turn battle-hardened warriors into marshmallows.  The health of Armagios and Colossal Dragons shine through as the abilities of Sapphire Chargers and Otyughs leave a lasting and burning impression on any opponent. 8)  Deflagration prevents any chance the enemy can stall you while Fire Shield makes you wish you had just stayed home.  Fire keeps Gravity warm at night while Gravity keeps the Fire from burning out.

 :life LIFE :life

The poll says Life isn't a good option for Gravity, and, to some extent, it's warranted.  However, if you've ever been on the receiving end of a Sapphire Charger on drugs, you'd understand very quickly that with Life comes PAIN! :P  Adrenaline is a nasty card to be paired with Gravity; one card turns a four damage-dealing Charger into a nine damage-dealing powerhouse.  And don't think shields are gonna make it hurt any less either; once the Adrenaline kicks in, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.  All of Gravity's creatures benefit from an Adrenaline rush... well... maybe not Armagios, since they're more meat shield than meat cleaver. :))

Mitosis is another good option, since you can spawn an infinite army of Mercenaries/Guards, Chargers, Armagios (near-infinite defense, anyone?), and, if you're really spiteful, Titans.  It's bad enough having to deal with Gravity throwing it's weight at you once; now imagine having to dealing with it multiple times.

I could make a few more combinations, but those were the four I voted for, as I feel they're the best for Gravity.  Will I make a vouche for the other Elements?  Maybe.  But that's for another time.
