Deck Help / Gravity/Earth Lockdown Deck
« on: December 16, 2009, 09:58:32 pm »

I've started running each of the versions with 6 Gravity towers, 8 Stone towers, mark of gravity. I'm not done testing yet, but it looks like 5/9 with gravity mark would be even better.

So what you're saying Jmizzle is that Jellyfish being a global moderator is allowed to go into topics about something derail the topic by attacking the person who posted said topic while openly admitting he has no plans to actually read the opening post and address anything in it? Sounds less like a moderator and more like a troll to me. There is nothing in the forum rules that states any of the following:

A person can only post in any particular thread if he is a well known elements player.

A person is allowed to ignore the OP of threads and attack the person who posted without posting anything relevant to the thread.

As for commenting on the card specifics, isn't that what this is for? Discussion of new card ideas? My personal Rainbow deckbuild has nothing to do with new cards.
The fact that it has nothing to do with the topic is irrelevant. We still want to know it, if it's so good. It's what we do here. Share.  :P

Anyway, the reason I wasn't talking about the card specifics is that I actually liked them. I just didn't like that only mono decks could use them. Since you're saying you would be fine if all decks could use them, then I have no qualms with this topic. Other than your arrogance  :D.

But I can't speak for Jelly, so...

but did he pick them up off the street? i mean, to assume that he assembled a random group of peopl is preposterous. I am more likely to assume that he has a group of "friends" that all play ccg's. and they enjoy them greatly. then at some point one of them discovered elements, told everybody, and they all began playing it. no need to put up "posters" or anything. also, there could quite possibly be hundreds or thousands of players out there that are as good if not better than those in the t50, without actually being in t50. the fact that t50 is based on score means that you have to have a good win rate in order to progress. if these people spent time experimenting with different decks or playing each other with real life decks, instead of grinding, then they may very well have low scores and are therefore ineligible for t50. or maybe they simply don't like forums. i don't usually. i don't mean to say that i'm a pro or anything, im just saying that there are people that don't like forums. it is very possible to get good at a game without asking for advice from anyone.  please, respond to his post, talk about the cards that he is suggesting. don't just tear into his credibility.
I actually like many of the cards he suggests, just not that you have to have that mark and only cards of that type in your deck to use them.

And yes, he did post flyers. He said it himself.

And of course it is possible to get good without asking advice. It just take a whole lot longer, so the "six months" they've been playing really may not have given the players that much growth knowledge-wise.

If your rainbow is so much better and it can't be beaten by speed poison or fire lance rush, please do tell me what it is, so I can begin to use it. I would LOVE a rainbow that good. I doubt you have a deck that good. Prove me wrong.

About frostfire: It's OP. I could play 3x water tower, gain enough quantum for the ice bolts, then have just fire towers/sundial. And then I would have basically a 5+4(firequantums/10) fire lance versus a 3+3(firequantums/10) card.

Just because the players are local has nothing to do with their ability to build decks. What it does have an ability to do is have them available to call up for play testing and have them get here regularly. Something joeblow living in Timbuckto would not be able to do. Not all of us players are here to make some kind of name for ourselves. We don't go out and advertise how great we are, that is arrogant. We play and play and play. And tune our decks up to make them better. Just because you sucked at deck building when you started doesn't mean other people do. For example when I first picked up this game I took a look at all the cards available to me and built this deck to farm level 3's. It didn't win all the time but games were quick and quick allowed me to finish the quests quicker.
If you don't go to the forums, it would probably take a year or more to get at the playing level you would get to in 2 weeks by using the forums. Sure, it's possible to get good without the forum, but it makes six months of playing seem a whole let less significant. Like Jellyfish said, this is the central place for the devoted players; not a little play group you got together. Read some of the topics on this forum and then re post.

10x Light Pillar
6x Russler
6x Emerald Dragon
2x Empathic Bond
4x Cockatrice
2x Heal
Notice it's 30 cards.  However, just because you were smart enough to build a deck like this at first doesn't mean the others in your group were. Since you pretty much just picked them up off the street, I really doubt it.

Card Ideas and Art / We could use some new pillars...
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:10:34 pm »

No.  You set it, you get 2.  Every turn, you get 2.

Considering you get 3 from quanta tower, there's nothing wrong here.
Yes there is. Quantum towers/pillars are OP (in my mind), and they're random. Imagine being able to produce TWO of two elements that you KNOW you will get. I do not approve.

Instead, I like the idea that you have a 50/50 chance of each type every turn, and you gain only 1 quantum each turn.

Rainbow Decks / OMG Look! A Parallel Dragon!
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:10:34 pm »

Why waste the cash on upgrading cards you know you arn't going to work on fg, But instead attemtp to make a fg farming deck? I notice you problem didn't set on creating a fg deck, but I still don't see the logic of it. Unless your a card freak who already has 6 copys of every upgraded card(Im looking at you jmizzle).
Even though Jmizzle already responded, I like dragons. I have 8 or 9 (don't feel like counting) upgraded decks I run, and most of them are original or partly original. And yes, one of those decks is a modified Jmizzle rainbow I use to farm gods. I also use various builds of QT's fire lance god farmer.

I wouldn't call myself a card freak, though  :-\. I upgrade decks as I think of them, and then post them if there isn't already a similar deck and the deck is fun to use or very good.

But yeah. I actually made this in game, since the way I see it, if I'm going to post a deck it means I think it's really fun or really good, so I feel I should make a commitment to it. If I'm going to suggest it to others, it better be good enough to make in my account, too.

As to miracle, I think that would be an option. I've also started running it without the light dragon and 5 dials upped, instead. Basically, the build I posted isn't the only build that would work. It is, after all, a rainbow deck.

Duo-Decks / Flying weapon denial deck
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:10:34 pm »

No, Eagle Eyes would work best since your only source of pillar denial is the pulvys. If you had quicksands as well, then maybe eternity would work.

Also, don't underestimate diamond shield. I think it's one of the best in the game :D.

And if you're flying the weapons immediately (which I for one wouldn't do every game, only in games where opponent may have explosions or steals), then it shouldn't matter what type of quantum you use.

Again, I think that animate weapons are one of the best upgrades possible. Maybe not for this deck (though I do think they would be better), but for any future deck you make using flying weapons so it doesn't have to use air quantum.

He took that screenshot from the trainer. He also says he was wondering if there are any tweaks he should make before he starts upgrading them.

I like it, but why not upgrade the flying weapons too? I can see that you may not want them to use your gravity quantum, but I could also see you sometimes not wanting to use your air quantum. And if you're going to fly a weapon, either
a) If it's a pulvy and you don't want to run out of gravity quantum to use it, use the pulvy then fly it.
b) If it's an EE and you shouldn't worry about gravity quantum since you won't be able to destroy anything that turn anyway.

That and animate weapons are one of the best upgrades to do, in my book. It opens up so many other deck options.

That mono death deck wasn't the greatest. I guarantee that this deck:
6x Quicksand
3x Elite Shrieker
6x Elite Graboid
2x Titanium Shield
13x Stone Towers
Mark of Time
Could beat your rainbow.

As could this one:
6x Congeal
6x Physalia
6x Deadly Poison
2x Arsenic
10x Bone Tower
Mark of Water

As could this one:
6x Fire Lance
6x Sundial
12x Burning Tower
2x Light Tower
1x Reflective Shield
2x Fahrenheit
1x Explosion
Mark of Light

As could many others. Stop assuming rainbow decks are the best decks. They are against gods. Not against other people.

If your little group was just local, then I can conclusively say the people's decks probably sucked. When I was a newbie to Elements, even being big on card games, my decks all sucked. Same with all other players. You can't post fliers in your town and expect to get people who have been playing this game for a long time among the community, or get people who will turn out to be amazing deck builders. My decks continued to suck, even after weeks of playing, until I started visiting the forums. Then my skill at deck building began to improve rapidly as I learned the finer points of Elements.

As to 30 cards being ideal: Yes. Any larger without extra drawing will result in too many bad draws for a deck to be good. Sure, it could get a good hand 50% of the time and win, but the other 50% of the time you get completely owned. A 34-40 card deck that is just as effective as a similar 30 card deck without extra card drawing will not happen. Give me an example of a 34-40 card deck that you think is good, and I guarantee I can trim it down to a better 30 card version.

Oh, and stop responding to me within the quote. It gives mine and other's eyes headaches.
