Why was it different this time? I've been probed regularly like clockwork and it was never like this. Never.

The spectre adjusted its thorny limbs to let the butterfly out of its temporary cocoon-nest. They were perched atop a pitch black pillar that seemed to be radiating darkness from the inside. The tiny demon paced the small area slowly.

And....

How have we invoked... Destiny?

The dark night seemed even darker as the minutes came and went.

Why was she even here?

[OOC] Imagining that scenario actually made my eyes hurt.. and I wasn't even really looking at anything lol
And you forgot that Jon has Nyxia = )
OOC: LOL. I got dizzy thinking about it as well. hahaha. Putting the yellow shadow felt appropriate indeed. Oh yeah... I was wondering if I forgot anyone. Will edit now.  (although, she could be one of those "shadowy figures at the periphery" hehe)

OOC: I thought of doing individual battles among the party members, but came up with something more Twilight Zone-y. Let's see if it works for you.

Light. Darkness. Aether.

On the 3 corners of an equilateral triangle, 3 softstone chairs were placed. The elementalists one by one silently took their posts. The half-nymph shut the only entrance to this conference room.

The only exit for that matter.

mAX removed the stool placed for himself from the middle of the setup. He crossed his legs into a seated position on the hard smooth granite floor. He suddenly jumped up into a standing position. Everyone else stood up with him. The air electric with surprise. maX held out his hands in front of him, "I'm sorry, I got skittish. I need to do some calisthenics. I'm sorry if I caught you off guard." He proceeded to do several push-ups and other acrobatics. His balance and flexibility were quite impressive for a husky guy.

The shadowed figures at the periphery grumbled amongst themselves and settled back into their seats.

At the point of connection, a flash of hot pink blinded their individual thoughts into an echo of each other's memories. They are now all children inside a single child. Each experiencing all their childhoods as it had happened, as it was happening now.

They/He was looking at their/his mother/s, "Now, child/angel/beloved/booboo..." She looked stern, concerned, upset and loving all at the same time.

"Y-Y-Yes, mother??" He/They felt so sad, angry, frustrated, embarrassed.

"Haven't we told you NOT to do what you did? What you did... You don't do things just because you can. How many times have I told you not to heal a dead animal... steal... use mind control... play too deep in the woods?? Why must you disobey us?"

...

"Come here."

He/they ran towards his/their mother/s, hugged her tight and sobbed.

Each scenario rushing by, rewinding and playing forward, happening again and will happen, as if it did happening or was happened. Time was immaterial and no longer linear as they KNOW it was. Until there was no more thought but pure feeling.

The four men were all sobbing in quiet spasms in the same fetal position. All their movements were in synchronicity. Even their breaths rose and fell at the same time. Sirenes was alarmed and slumped on the floor beside her guardian. She cradled his head into her lap and felt his warm tears soak into her thighs. Nyxia was beside herself in confusion, she had never experienced this level of sympathy before. She began to be anxious for her own sanity, but more than herself... she was disturbed that she was actually afraid for her lover. She didn't want to reach out to him. She was afraid that she might trigger a disturbance in whatever phenomenon was happening in the mental states of the 4 powerful men in front of her. She never felt herself to be so... weak and powerless.

Zanthos was standing with his arms crossed, clenched teeth behind the thin lips, his face a mask seeming to be guarding the door either from escape or from intruders.

"I am / You are / This is... Destiny."

And, everyone in the room felt the kind of emotion that only a mother could have for her long lost child. The silent mewling of the grown men continued from the dream-reality into just mere plain abject reality. As the sniffles died into awkward silence, the group hardly acknowledged each other's presence. One by one, the party broke up into their rooms as Jonathan declared in a thought to... just meet again tomorrow. The first to go was Zanthos, each step deliberate and meaningful. Jon took Nyxia's pale, cold hand and led her through the doorway. Xanriel accepted the assistance from Sirenes as if weakened by an injury no one could see. Heimdall took his time looking back into the room searching for something that wasn't there before stepping out, absent-mindedly leaving the door ajar.

max was left alone still on the floor looking unconscious. Dexter crept into the room. MaX recognized the presence and sniffled into a butterfly. It glided onto a blood-stain bloom among the spectre's thorns and stayed there.

Take us somewhere safe, Dex.

Optimalist, I think you should do the mind probing scene. I don't think we can correctly depict what's inside MAx's mind.
OOC: CooooL.... Okay, will do. I will just take your battle styles so far and translate it into the probing scene. Will nap first.

"We will do this."

An unexpected thrill of anticipation surged through max's spine. He knows he shouldn't look too excited because the momentary respite of hostilities is quite precarious. He hung his head to show resignation, letting his longish hair fall to hide his gleaming eyes.

Mental probing! A freefall experience of dimensionless proportions. Imagine being thrown into icy waters after walking hours in a scorching desert. But, this time, imagine being mentally assaulted into all twelve different elements one after another. Experiencing everything... then nothing... again and again and again until infinity feels like a pinpoint in a waking nightmare. And then.... reality.

Goosebumps.

MAX deliberately exhaled a slow breath and smoothed his mahogany sleeves just to have something to do. He is ready.

"I am ready, masters." His smile dissolved like it was never there.

"Who's he?" A scuffle between the water-light couple. "What brings you here?"

"mAX, a fallen-fallen elf." He almost laughed at the term. Flashing his designer smile instead, "Destiny brought me here."

"Step away from my friends, heretic, or you shall regret it."

mAX sensed the tension still the air in the immediate area. It became harder to breathe.

Stomping with all his might on the dark rock, he jumped full force upwards. :darkness [ Lycanthropy ]  :entropy

"i SEe the master of LIFE has LesS respect for the LIVinG than one would expect.", the insectile screech in the butterfly's voice was unmistakable. It sounded artificial and unnatural. It dove quickly to the other end of the arena while remaining visibly bigger than the biggest butterfly in the natural world. Its body was a darker shade than the typical Maxwell's Demon, but it's eyes... riveting and fearsome. You cannot stop looking into them, but every instinct you have is screaming danger.

"I AM NOT HERE NOT FIGHT YOU elf. YOU HAVE FOUGHT MY WAR FOR ME. THE CHAOS LORD BECAME MY BIGGEST ENEMY THE VERY FIRST DAY I LEARNED TO USE ENTROPIC MAGIC. The same day I was subjected to its powers. I AM grateful. And, I have agreed to submit to these... masters. If need be, to you." MaX reduced his form into a common looking Monarch Butterfly, its pale pink wings sparkling with iridescence. Anyone who would see it would immediately think of one word, FAIRY.

mAx remained a good distance from the other elf, waiting... from the darker corners to his right, he sensed a slow crawling movement. Dexter! (Stay hidden, Dexter!)

So Optimalist, now you'll have to deal with Zanthos. Can't be helped, since we have an Elf AND a Fallen Elf in our group.
OOC: Well... technically maX is not a fallen elf, but was forced into servitude (enslaved). The affiliation still sticks I think since he has been working most of his life for a fallen druid. So okay... let'see where this goes.

mAx knelt on one knee and eyes cast on the rock the Master was standing on, "a generation's worth of elven gratitude upon you, sir. You and your party have saved my village and most of my clan from Chaotic cruelty and the fallen elves. I am here to be of service on your quests. I have relatively good command of the entropic energies, which will be an invaluable addition to your wandering band's growing arsenal." If I say so myself.

Maybe maX could be the reincarnation of Maxwell, the original Master of Entropy! Maxwell was the one who created the Maxwell's Demons.
OOC: I like the idea! The Maxwell's Demon was Max's first mutation, which wreaked a memorable havoc... thus he got his nick from that.
