While thinking about Masters' Tournament some more I would also like to present the option of further restricting duos.
In every single match I played I faced a duo, in every single one of these it was the off-element cards that most annoyed me and made me lose. I understand off-element cards were introduced to prevent one element from hard countering another, but when your mono gets countered by them so bad, that in my case, only 1 out of 8 matches feels like a mono would have been a good match-up something feels off. Especially when this mono is as great and versatile as Darkness'.

So here are some options that may or may not help against just this:
  • Allow banning of off-element cards: of course there has to be some restriction since some elements would otherwise just ban all PC.
  • Allow only 1 kind of off-element card: this is an option I find the most interesting, you can still consistently draw PC if you need it, but won't get inconsistent duos or a reason to complain about their inconsistency. It's not like off-element cards were introduced to allow a wide range of off-element cards to be used, right?
  • Remove/restrict Pendulums and Quantum Towers: it's about mono-ish decks, right? So why need all that off-element quanta? I'm not talking about total removal, just being able to use less, like up to 5 or something.
  • Further restrict off-element cards to 3 or 4: it should be enough to draw that card that prevents you from getting hard counter by element match-up alone.
I was positive about off-element cards at first, and what they'd allow me to do, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized I'd basically only use them to counter other elements' off-element cards most of the time...
Usually i agree with ToRB but i am in disagreement here. I want more freedom in deck building then more restrictions. I've been in every masters tourney and by far the worst one was the mono with a ban. I think when it comes to battling other elements we should try to equalize things as much as possible and give more variety of decks available so harder for direct counters. I do love having it being fully upped and would really like a full range of decks to use instead of having constrained deck building.

Also i am of disagreement that the Masters Tourney should show what element is the best (hence the arguement for using more in element cards then less). We are trying to win points here so it should be as even as possible and should be based on the PvP skill (or RNG luck  :P) of the individual masters not necessarily the element.

Sorry you couldn't have decent draws Higs. Something about me i guess. Much appreciation to Higs though putting aside her dinner to play me. Thanks!

Game 1 (Loss) - Well i tried a different deck. This was made to fight off TorB but after using it vs Fractix it seemed to work pretty good in testing so tried it out. Unfortunately Higs used her Purify/Fractacrawlers. So really didn't have much of a chance and getting a crap draw didn't help. I was able to surprise her though with a dual RoF and getting a 20 count BW and a 9/10 condor. Unfortunately i had to sacrifice two of my vultures earlier to discard and cremation.

Game 2-4 (Wins) - Used the same deck for all of them. For some reason Higs can't get a good draw against me for the world. This deck is virtually RNG proof as it requires very little quanta to be effective. Game 2 and 4 Higs used Pestal/Vamptal on me but was never able to get the quanta to get her healing going. Game 3 she used an antimatter deck but again not enough quanta fast enough and i just piled on the damage too quick. Game 3 and 4 she drew one pillar to start so never could get her deck running quick enough to beat me. Game 2 she actually was starting to quanta lock but again it was too late as i was able to get way too much poison out before she could heal enough.

Nice job Root. Beating xdude once in his element is a feat in itself, two times in a row.. gotta give u ton of props.

Lol i knew this was going to happen.... I thought TorB was going to win so i prepped a bunch of decks for him. I should know better then to ever expect Higs to lose.

But it makes the victory that much sweeter the stronger the opponent.  ;)

Yeah i agree that there should be a limit on in-element bans but as a whole i think the masters were very gracious. Personally i let my challengers decide what bans they wanted as i wanted them to get as many points as possible. They asked me if i could ban certain cards and after reviewing their selections i agreed to them. If they had chosen 3 in-element cards i would not have submitted those.

Also for my challenger bans i chose cards i would likely ban from them in the finals just to see what decks they would make. =)

Honestly thought i was going to lose vs nils. Even more surprised i didn't see dischole. Nils did not have the greatest of draws and the only average to poor draw i got was in game three where he got an even worse one. I also lost all three tosses. Nils used mono-gravity all 3 games but different variants.

Game 1 - I saw the gravity mark and figured for flying titans. Nils draw was slow here and he didn't have black holes so this deck just ate him up. This deck in testing would routinely win 5-6 turns vs catatitan. He pulled a armagio but it wasn't enough to stop the jellys and the spiders.

Game 2 - Thought Nils might go dischole this round so went with mono-death. Mono-gravity rush this time. Course rushing death is never a good choice if they are rushing too. He managed to get out an early oty but that can't stop the mass amount of creatures and poisons. Also didn't hurt getting out an early arsenic.

Game 3 - Now i really had to think here. I thought there was a possibility of some type of shield (wings/dims) coming up. Maybe a fractal charger with dims, so i decided to roll with darkness dominion again. Nils went with catatitan again but when you only get out one flying titan and one armagio the whole game.... I also stole both of his catapults and killed his armagio. I really did not get the best hand in the world as i only got out 2 spiders and 1 poison for most of the game. Got out 1 more poison the turn before he died but really i only won because his draw was terrible. I won this game by one turn.

Thanks for the games Nils and i'm completely surprised we didn't desync at least once. Good luck in the rest of the tourney.

Good games Ralouf and nice deck. Really not much we could do here. Thanks so much for being a good sport and replaying after i forgot to use my engorgio deck. Results ended up the same though. FACE STOMP TO THE FACE.

So i have a quick question about how the masters tourney brackets are setup. Since bracket A and B already have to play an additional match wouldn't it be fairer to have bracket D and F go to the first bracket of the elimination bracket? As is now the players who are in bracket A and B not only have to play an additional match but if they lose in bracket C or E they then again have to play an additional match before reaching the loser of D or F (with this setup A or B would have played 3 matches to D or F's one in the elimination bracket).
