General Discussion / Re: Will Elements Make any More Elements?
« on: November 29, 2010, 10:06:43 pm »
If I understand correctly, the reason for no multi element cards is that it would be extremely difficult/impossible with the current game code, and thus would require a massive rewrite.
Righto, but I believe chriskang once pointed out in detail how to go about something like it, but it would still be a pain in the arse to do.

As much as i think we're ok with 12 elements, I fully support multi-elements cards... not like forest spirit, but with duo/trio quanta cost. They could be another category, like "other" and still not disrupt the balance of the game.
That was one of the first things I asked about when I got on the forums and was told rather politely it's not going to probably happen. That's not to say impossible, just very unlikely. But if it's any consolation, I'd love to see it happen myself ;)

Forum Bugs, Suggestions and Feedback / Re: Mentor System
« on: November 29, 2010, 09:53:57 pm »
So, umm, why not start a sticky somewhere with peeps that are willing to be mentors listed in the OP and somewhere visible for new players to find easily?

Just FYI, if and/or when it goes up, I'll be glad to help out ;)

Fortune:
"It may -- or may not -- be possible to think inside the box today, so be ready to give outside the box a solid try."
Would that be a litterbox? Or a little graveyard of not-so-dead toosie rolls?  ;D

WoE Archive / Re: Character Sheet
« on: November 29, 2010, 06:36:40 pm »
I'd say players would pick different names for their characters, not their forum names. Then if, and when, people do something that get's their character's name added into the world, there can be an updated timeline, or some other journal, showing who's name that belongs to so credit can be given that everyone can see and have access to.

WoE Archive / Re: Character Sheet

If I am understanding this right, each player gets their character sheet and it's posted in "X" forum. Now, not completely knowing how the forums are setup for it's members, would it be possible to delegate some of the maintenance of the character sheets to the respective leaders or representatives of each element and lock it for all others except to mods?

As for the sheet itself, might also want to add "Quests Completed" so there are no repeats or abuses on one-time quests.

Mkay, gotcha now ;)

I think now I understand how peeps can manipulate the game, iffn' ya now what I mean, so my security issues seem moot.

Guess if it's possible to play offline at the moment, I see no reason why not to go with an official downloadable version.

Moderator Comment Removed some stuff. Educating people is not always a good idea.

My understanding is that only a portion of the code is downloaded onto my comp, enough that I can interface and play the game accordingly. If I actually download the entire game, source code and all, then I am mistaken and rescind my previous post. I am not extremely computer literate ;)

Any time you allow a game to be downloaded and played then reconected back to a main server for score submissions or to play PvP or whatever, you open the door to people manipulating and hacking the game code. Just for security reasons alone, the game should never be downloaded. If it is, there would have to be many, many security protocols in place to prevent such manipulations. I do not think Zanz has the man power or resources to develop the game to that point. Maybe in the future, but to be honest, I don't think the game is to that point or will be anytime soon. If it's to make it easier on us to play, that's quite the security risk to take. If it's to play on your own at home without the connection issues, all you'd be doing is playing against the AI which you can do here. I just don't think it's a viable option at the moment to allow the program to be shared at this point.

Round 5 / Re: Sir Valimont (Entropy) 2 - 0 (Air) Klaymore
« on: November 28, 2010, 05:08:04 pm »
Simple way of looking at this situation: No screen shot exists that shows either one had a clear victory. SV took none and Klay has one that beat the AI. Therefore a simple answer can be concluded- no clear winner and thus a rematch of the second round. I know the Warmaster has the final say, but I think it's safe to say round 2 will be rematched followed by a potential round 3.

And for the record, perhaps screen shot every iffy match ending or desync would be a good idea? I do it whenever something like this happens so situations like this that follow can be avoided. Might be best to do that immediately rather than much later.

General Discussion / Re: Built-in statistics tool for Elements?
« on: November 28, 2010, 04:43:28 pm »
I've done stats in the past and, though stat tools are nice, I am all for new cards and game development as the main priority.

I honestly feel any addition to the game should apply equally, or be meant to, to everyone who plays on the whole. That can be said for a stat tool, but I think it's safe to say most people that would want a stat tool ingame are those that are uber dedicated anyway and find ways to run stats. Not everyone would benefit from a stat tool, but everyone would definitely benefit from new cards and game fixes. Cards, desyncs and spectate fixed first then maybe look at a stat tool when time permits.
