Buff This Card! / Re: Sundial | Sundial
« on: October 07, 2010, 03:57:54 am »
Very rarely do I use this card instead of a Precognition; the drawing power is equal.  It may offer some nice stall, but I just don't have a use for Sundial anymore.
You're comparing houses to cars here. I don't always use the draw power of the sundial - the Sundial shines in a large stall rainbow with otyughs and bone walls. On the other hand, the Precog is nearly useless in a large stall rainbow (the peek into opponent's hand is nice, but still), but it's used in speedbows fairly often.
Precog and sundials are similar in that they both make a 30-card deck smaller.
Yet dramatically different in that one peeks at opponent's hand and the other completely stops all creatures from attacking for a turn.

The upped version still costs the same as unupped

Also, this screams "mindgate" ;)

Maybe I'm off but here's how I see it playing potentially:

Have Mindgate in play, use "Forward" to put one Nightmare from your hand on top of opponents library, use Mindgate to get it back after putting it there, playing the Nightmare thus keeping them from drawing the Nightmare you just put on their deck. Rinse and repeat. Lock down.

Meh thinks a "rounded up" or a "rounded down" be added somewhere in the mix. 40% on a Lava Destroyer would either be an attack of "9" or "10" depending on the direction of the buff.

I REALLY hate to be a debbie-downer here, and I do like that you've taken the initiative to create a card, but to be totally honest, I think it would be better if you had the initial idea then posted it rather than post something then have us, the community, figure out what it is you want to submit.

Not to sound too harsh, but it seems very clear this topic won't go anywhere so maybe move it or lock it? I think we're beating a dead horse here.

First, hindsight being 20/20, the next war will likely, or should, have a sign up of people who will participate in it so organizers will know the exact make up of the war participants. If the number excedes the limits for the event, a second war, like Underground, would be organized.

Having run my own gaming store and events once upon a time myself, I sympathize with the organizers who have to put all this together and deal with the massive variables, one of which is the internet, when it comes to making these things work.

If the admins have somehing that players who missed out on the second war can get into, kudos to them for taking the extra step for those players. I just want to know one thing...

Who gets to date Kate Beckinsale?  ;D

I can almost guarantee the Curators will require you to complete the tables as described here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,5039.0.html) before this goes any further.

Also, a posting of exactly what you are trying to do will help all of us tremendously.

Now, does anyone else have any questions on my card idea? I have a broken wrist and don't want to type with one hand any more than I need to.
Hehe, you been doin' stuff you weren't suppose to be doin'?    ;D

As for the card, I like it. The creature itself is potent while moderated well for it's cost/power and even if the creature is in play for one turn still has the potential to freeze a weapon which can be useful in and of itself. I imagine dropping a Blizzard Giant on my opponent when he thinks all is good in the world, using Eternity to bounce a creature to the top of his deck, ensuring he doesn't deck out when WHAM!.... frozen weapon!  hehehe  8)  Either bounce mine over and over again and deck out or deal with a frozen weapon. It's a nice counter to Eternity, whether directly or indirectly.

I think we're getting a little off topic here.
Not going off topic here. Just speculating on the potential impact of the card tis all  ;)

Hehe, first thing I thought of with this card was Nightmare. The second, Dune Scorpion  ;)
Why would that be?  ???
I was thinking nightmare mainly because if I ran Nightmare with ways to destroy/steal my opponents permanents then my opponent wouldn't get the card in hand. In other words, was just thinking of a counter to the card 'tis all  ;)
