Rainbow Decks / Re: Jallen's upgraded ScaredGirl Variant
« on: April 14, 2010, 11:27:53 pm »
You took out the two steals, which gives you no permanent control. Otherwise, pretty good deck imo.
Technically jallenw only took out one Steal, since ScaredGirl already replaced one of the two steals to with a Quintessence.  ScaredGirl just never updated the first post of the thread.

I was experimenting with one of the versions of this deck. The :water Mark, no :water Tower, heavy :entropy Tower, Improved Antimatter version.

I tried adding a Butterfly Effect instead of a Pulverizer, since Pulverizer was nerfed and this deck has plenty of Entropy to spare after a few turns.  Didn't realize until I was fighting a False God that the Purple Nymph's attack too high to make a Destroyer out of it :(

Nerf Purple Nymph's attack power please :))

I really feel like the Pulverizer and Mirror Shield are must-haves in this deck.  If you draw one of them early, they both utterly trivialize gods that would otherwise be unbeatable, like Octane, FFQ and Ferox.

I like it.  I love it.  Why?  It's basically the exact same as my deck.

+1 Supernova

-1 Firestorm
+1 Steal

-1 Improved Antimatter
+1 Purple Nymph

Great minds think alike *laughs*  I've been strongly tempted to add a Butterfly Effect to the deck.  I'll probably test it out another day.  Though the Entropy generation would be tight.  I suppose the ideal would be to use whichever one is more game winning for the god I'm fighting, depending on whether his Permanents are deadly or not.

Rainbow Decks / Re: PuppyChow's FG Rainbow

Is this getting hurt more, in particular, than the time-based decks? The quanta usage definitely gets shorter, and quite a bit of this deck's cards were in the deck. But are all rainbows getting the same knockback or does this one get hurt in particular? I still think it's a fine deck, I'm just trying to fine-tune it to try and optimize losses from the 1.21 patch.
I think all rainbows have been hit pretty bad by this.

I was using ScaredGirls rainbow, and had a solid win percentage.  But after 1.21, I can barely win any matches :/

Being able to draw faster doesn't do a whole lot to help that it now often takes several more turns to be able to use key cards.  Especially considering it takes longer to get a good drawing going.

I'm not sure how many up'd cards you have, but you could try out the deck I made that's designed for use with 0-2 upgrades. (of course more upgrades would help, but I haven't designated a specific upgrade path).

http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,4912.0.html
About a quarter of the deck is upgraded for me.

The part that's frustrating me is that after this patch, I'm having a horrible loss streak even against gods that I used to have near 100% wins against; in large part due to nearly every card in this deck having it's cost increased.

I finally won a match with the help of my Purple Nymph.  It was an uh, interesting fight.

I find that if you have a Purple Nymph (as I do) this deck becomes much more effective. Rainbow is a piece of cake is you can antimatter a few high-power forest spectres. I imagine it would be a lot harder without it.
I didn't even think to try a Purple Nymph.  But I *gasp* actually have one!

Doesn't the obscene cost to play the Purple Nymph and to use it's ability, lead it to being unplayable until long after you've gained control of the board?

EDIT:  I'm definitely frustrated, as I haven't had a single FG win after the last patch.

Rainbow Decks / Re: Yaladilae's Butterfly Angel (v1.21)

If you use extra oty, you get a better chance to draw 1 in begining hand
If you use pest, you can sometimes take away important quantum against some god, and you can burrow it early (e.g fire from divine glory, water from eldinois)
Those are the really two only options.

I liked the idea of using Pest, since it's the only viable monster that keeps it's ability when you use Butterfly Effect on it.  But the more I think about it, the more I think having a 3rd Oty would be best.  Yeah it puts strain on the Gravity generation, but the stacking your deck for a quicker Oty seems too good to pass up.

Quote
But if you want to fractual, fractual a minor phoenix, since firefly gives you fire quantum, and early phoenix can be very good to use up FG's spell against creature controls. Just oty one of your phoenix later on and then butterfly the ash!
This however, is also a good idea  :o  I might wanna mull over this one.

But a Fractal seems to conflict with the quintessences.  I mean jeeze, you'd never have enough Aether generation for that.

General Discussion / Re: Design a false god discussion thread.
« on: April 01, 2010, 10:49:57 pm »
Think the Decks need more variation, To many seem like near identical copies of each other. :/
That's due to the new cards having some very obvious combos.

AKA Phoenix + Fractal + Cremation

That doesn't mean there aren't variations in the decks, or that they were copies of each others.  Like, the main difference between my deck and yours, is I decided to add flying fractal Farenheits to take advantage of the high fire generation of cremating phoenixes to increase the offensive output.

I did not copy your deck, I made mine from scratch.  They just have a lot of similarities because they share the same basic strategy.

I like the idea of I replacing Fallen Druid with a Low Attack Monster to use Butterfly Effect.  I do agree with what you, and someone else said earlier in the thread; a Pest or 3rd Oty is probably more ideal than a Guardian Angel.

I don't have much reason to complain about that though, as it is much more reliable than using a Druid, and i wouldn't be surprised to see this becoming the new standard in Rainbow.

I like the idea a lot.

EDIT:  I do like the suggestion someone said to put a Rewind in your deck in case Eternity is the bottom card.  In small decks, there's quite a high chance of that.  And it always sucks.

Competitions / Re: Contest: The New False God
« on: April 01, 2010, 01:44:15 pm »
Question.  Is there a way to test triple mark in the Trainer?
Another Question.  Can we build a False God Deck around the Holy Cow?  :P

EDIT:  I think it's a real shame that using Fractal on a Flying Weapon doesn't keep it's flying property, even though I never expected that it would.  If only they would make it an exact copy like Parallel Universe, then I could make a stupidly devastating deck.
EDIT EDIT:  Now that I think about it, it might be better to go with more Aether Towers and use a Mark of Fire instead...  The deck would be slightly slower, but when it does finally get some good Flying Fahrenheit going, the damage could be so ridiculously high that it could kill you damn near instantly.  In fact, I could maybe work some Quintessences into the deck that way.  EDIT:  Then again, I probably couldn't, because the AI is probably too stupid to figure out that it should Fractal a Fahrenheit before it gets Quinted.
EDIT EDIT EDIT:  Damn it, Bone Wall stops Fahrenheit's bonus damage, forgot about that.  Okay so I might need to change some stuff in the deck.  It's insanely devastating when Bone Wall or Sundial isn't active.  Sundial isn't a concern because of Explosion obviously.  But I have no way to take out Bone Wall other than rushing Phoenixes.  Which admittedly, due to their resurrecting qualities, might still be plenty capable of breaking a Bone Wall without being destroyed.  Though everytime a Phoenix dies, Bone Wall heals itself :/

:fire :fire :fire :fire :fire Apollo :fire :fire :fire :fire :fire

Apollo was the Greek Sun God.  He was known for his fondness for the song of the Phoenix, so much so that he brought the sunrise every morning, just so he could hear the Phoenix sing his praises.

Let's see.  I think I'm the third phoenix/cremation/fractal false god suggestion so far.  Mines a tiny bit different though, taking advantage of the high fire generation by adding a Fractal Flying Fahrenheit to the mix.  I feel a handful of Aether Towers are needed, as Fractal is expensive and needs to be played early, but without an Aether Tower can only be used on the 4th turn, and every 3 turns afterwards (without multiple cremates).  I want to test it with no Aether Towers, but without x3 Mark, it is hard to.  I think even getting down 1-2 Aether Towers down in the first few turns is enough to significantly increase this decks speed.  The Fire Towers are deliberately a tiny bit lowish in number as Cremation is much more important.

3x Mark of Aether
30 Fire Tower
6 Aether Tower
12 Minor Phoenix
12 Cremation
12 Animate Weapon
8 Fractal
8 Explosion
6 Fahrenheit
4 Fire Lance
4 Enchant Artifact
2 Fire Buckler

Strategy:
1.  Cremate Phoenixs to get a quick burst of  :fire
2.  Fractal anything on the field (Doesn't matter too much if a Phoenix or Fahrenheit gets fractal'd, but Phoenixs are better during the first 3-5 turns, and Fahrenheits are better mid-late game)
3.  Spam fractal fahrenheits, fly them, along with fractal phoenixes.
4.  Fire Buckler is in the deck to control Immortal Otys.  Enchant Artifact to prevent it from being stolen.  Extra enchants can go on pillars.
5.  Cremation allows the usage of Enchant Artifact.  It goes on Firebuckler to prevent it from being stolen (duh :P).  Extras go on pillars.

Checklist:
Monster Control (Fire Buckler and to a lesser extent Fire Lance for killing dangerous mutants, or direct damage)
Permanent Control (Explosions to take out Hourglasses and Shields)
Permanent Protection (Enchant Artifact)
Monster Protection (Psuedo-protection only in the form of Fire Buckler to prevent Oty from growing large enough to eat Ash or Flying Fahrenheit.  Considering Immortal Oty is the main form of monster control, seems sufficient in a spammy-rush deck.)

Should build up damage very quickly.  I'm kinda scared, because I actually beat Seism with this deck.  And that was without even using Fractals, since I can't build up  :aether fast enough without the x3 mark.  I just literally outrushed him with two Fahrenheits and a lot of cremation.  My Fahrenheit damage was so high that with no defenses on my behalf, I killed him faster than he could kill me.

This deck just outrushed a False God, even if it was probably a bit of a lucky draw @.@

I considered including Fire Storm in the deck, but I feel that an Immortal Fire Buckler is sufficient monster control, and that the Fire Storms would only drag on the deck.  The only real weak point I can find in the deck (against a common FG Anti-Rainbow) is using Fire Storm to lower the HP of a Flying Fahrenheit then eating it.  However if the Fire Buckler is in place, the Oty still won't be able to grow sufficiently to eat any newly played cards, allowing Apollo to recover from a Fire Storm.

False Gods / Re: Fractal False Gods
« on: April 01, 2010, 11:39:25 am »
I'm deeply terrified of a mono-fire with aether mark god.

Minor Phoenix + Cremation + Fractal is scary business.

I had someone use it against me in the top50.  Person destroyed me in like, 3 turns.  A False God doing it, would probably have the fastest rush of any god out there.

Holy Cow is awesome.  He helped me almost defeat Divine Glory  :D

Yes I consider this an accomplishment considering I've never actually gotten that far against her before. :-[

I think Holy Cow is lucky.  I wish I could keep him all day long.
