War Archive / Re: WAR - Suggestions and Feedback

My point is different to Gl1tch's. I don't see the point of sideboards. You have a whole vault of "sideboard" to play with. Unless you want to change your deck after every game (not match) then there's no point. And if you can change your deck a bit so can your opponent so it's still a game of rps really.

I do agree that something needs to be done differently because the fact is elements are not balanced. Yes, a large part is based on the individuals, deckbuilding and luck but we don't start on an even footing in the first place and none of that balances it out. Basically these events penalise the worser elements and reward (if there are rewards) the better elements.

Perhaps there could be a handicap system in place but then that could encourage doing badly to be able to do better in the next war.

As for posts/activity/score, these aren't important. Number of posts is great of course because it means people will be active with discussions but this doesn't really affect the game/event fundamentally.
What would create a fairer distribution of teams, if this is so important, is for there to be a simple war sign up for anybody wanting to participate and then masters will choose anybody from that 1 at a time. This does create problems when people don't have the cards but the usual rares are easy enough to get and people really should have enough resources to get all the other unpped cards from the bazaar.

This along with a system that penalises masters, whose elements perform badly in the war, in the trials could ensure that nobody can actively do badly in order to do well in the next war because the master may not survive the trials to take advantage of the advantage during the war, and all the other members are chosen fairly so they can't definitely stay with the element they were in.

This would be complicated though and we would need to experiment with what levels of handicaps and penalties are adequate.

It's only a bit relevant. Just saying he shouldn't worry about my topic any more so the prevailing one would be the one that is currently stickied.

My list would only be up-to-date if I update it. Since there is a community one which would be more timely, I probably won't be making my list as often any more.

General Discussion / Re: Weekly Featured Cards poll - Gravity

Hmm, Question:
If Graviton Guard were dropped to 1 :gravity would anybody use it?
It would be overpowered. 2 for 3/5 is alright I suppose even if it is outshone by Frog being 2 for 5/3. Still Life has almost no creature control while Gravity has some and more HP comes in handy at times.

My position:

If one wants to give (read: allow people to get easily) rare cards then one should make it as easy as possible.
If one doesn't want people to get rare cards, or think they should stay 'rare' (whatever that means considering they aren't even rare), then one should just not make a farm.

I don't get this in between business of making biting farms.

Ultimately, people in Top 50 should have whatever decks they want and nobody should suggest otherwise.

Gravity / Re: Round 2 - Decks

That's why there are Plate Armor and Gravity Pull to help with the eating. You won't be doing any fast damage; we don't really have the cards left anyway. Gravity Shield if lucky will help against their big creatures if you can't get a big otyugh. That's why the only thing I'm afraid of is Flying Owl's Eye (more for the creature destruction) and unstable gas.

Earthquake makes their AIR intensive strategies not work as well. Deflagration will be a pain.

Anyways, it's too late now so let's hope for the best. Decks I've made haven't lost yet. :)

I like it and it makes sense.

Edit: I just realised that it could provide some problems with respect to identifying people on the forum (which is needed to distribute prizes) from those on the chat as well as their IGNs.

Gravity / Re: Round 2 Decks?

Okay I've made decks (see official sticky topic)

Some comments on how to play:
jmdt to go with flying titans with the first game as a sort of tester where you play normally. If he goes PU then you won't fly your titan in the 2nd game onwards. If he goes reverse time then take some care with flying titans as well. Fly them when you are going to win.
Obviously gravity pull your titans to tank and try to trade gravity pulls to avoid titans dying. DON'T use gravity pulls on your opponent because momentum means it is useless.

xKelevra will have an alright deck. Use momentum on Fire Eaters before Rage Potion to make them uber. Alternatively rage potion could be used for defence to kill his creatures.

PhantomFox: nothing much to say really. Try to use momentum on Otyugh if it is necessary or helps to eat for a few more turns while poisoned. Otherwise momentum on Fire eaters does more damage.

Baily18: Devourer and steal are just there to try to stop them doing whatever they try to counter our otyugh eating their weak creatures. Remember, if they have no creature destruction/control, and you only have 2 otyugh with 1 momentum, you should use momentum on 1 otyugh and then use that to eat the other otyugh to get 5 Hp and be able to eat cockatrice.
It is risky using Chargers here but we're basically stuffed in the long run with lack of Pillars anyway and Chargers need a lot of Pillars....

Smokefree: I know I said aether stall but I'm afraid of Unstable Gas. Pulverizer stops both Pulverizer and Flying Owl's Eye to an extent and Earthquake stops the quanta intensive strategies that Air can employ. Gravity Shield is just a random and stops against Dragons.

Gravity / Re: Round 2 Decks?

Not quite, you need at least 50% Gravity remember. I'd like 4 Otyugh and 6 Novas. Maybe 1 more Titan. And I'd say no Mercenaries; and Fire Eaters instead because mercenary costs more and we'll have some Fire quanta doing nothing anyway.

Yeah, that's what we will be salvaging. I see you have added to the vault already.

Just some ideas

We really have to use our other cards so I think Smokefree should go with Aether stall.

jmdt to go with flying titans with the first game as a sort of tester where you play normally. If he goes PU then you won't fly your titan in the 2nd game onwards. If he goes reverse time then take some care with flying titans as well. Fly them when you are going to win.
The deck posted earlier had 11 gravity pillars but we don't need that many. We only need 8. So we can add 1 Flying weapon, 1 Fog Shield and 1 Gravity Pull.

I think xdude will win unfortunately with either earthquakes, fire or flying morning star and pegasus. So I would consider throwing the match. They know we have dimensional shields so he'll probably try to counter it with earthquakes or fire with deflagration.

PhantomFox should go with Otyugh + titans + freeze + purify and novas with chaos seed, poison and lightning, momentum, reverse time. With Gravity mark to save on gravity pillars. This would need only 5 Gravity pillars.

That leaves chargers and otyugh to Baily18 to get past thorn carapace and also eat his creatures up. If they use quintessence then we can't really do anything about it. I think they'll try to counter Aether stall anyway so it should be alright.
