Gravity / Round 2 Salvaging
« on: June 19, 2010, 09:55:02 am »
I'll be taking 4 Liquid shadow and 2 obsidian pillar
6 Adrenaline
5 Freeze 1 ice bolt

I lost with a 32 card deck so 2 cards I won't be discarding are 2 gravity pillars

Game Suggestions and Feedback / Re: Turquoise Nymph Buff
« on: June 19, 2010, 04:20:41 am »
The best buff I could think for :aether nymph is to enter the play already quinted. But having something entering play almost invincible, that could make other creatures invincible is just stupid.
I concur.

[half-serious rant]
I frankly don't see the point in all of this really. Are you going to use Aether Nymph even if the skill cost is 2? Why not use Anubis instead if it is so much better? So your rainbow deck is Time intensive? So what, you can't have everything your way you know? Use Quintessence instead.
[/half-serious rant]

It's not like it has no use. An upgraded Aether deck based on Spiders and Nymphs is quite handy in terms of dealing fast and somewhat unavoidable damage. Yeah, its use is very limited, so are those of Water and Light Nymphs.

I don't know about you guys but my team members start topics all the time (exaggerating here but you know what I mean).

I like this. The first of anything is a learning experience and we can all learn about how to organise things etc. and how not too.

New cards will bring in new strategies/possibilities so I don't think there is much value to looking at decks really. As mentioned, decks are already made public.

While drafting would be great for balance, it could also prove to be a disaster if player are forced to join teams they don't want to join.
I was contemplating putting a "Will not play for:" row in but then I thought people might choose too many elements... maybe you can be exempt from 3 elements of your choosing and the other 9 can pick you?
I'd rather be tough and take the stance of 'if you don't want to play for any particular element, you should not sign up in the first place'

My main idea was to block damage/heal and let my Titans do the killing. This obviously doesn't work against healing decks.
Another purpose was to just get rid of some crappy cards.

classic shrieker rush (six earth pillars, six earthquake, six reverse time, six graboid, six shrieker)
lol wut?

Is it over powered when shrieker rushes have 10 out 98% of the time?
lol wut? Since when do Shrieker rushes have 10 out?

I don't see the point of removing Shriekers as standalone cards. People would just replace them with something else. It's not like Shriekers are overly good. 8 for a 10/4 that can turn into an immortal 5/4 compared to 4 for a 6/9. The unupgraded comparison is not as good for Golem but it still doesn't fully support Shriekers being overly better. Antlions aren't bad too. I would definitely not choose Shriekers in every situation.

Graboids are the problem.

Deck Help / Re: Tears/UG (newbie)

This looks so weird lol.

If you are using it for PVP1 you should realise that there is very little healing around (no shards). You only need to pack 6 Unstable Gas with a Mark of Fire and you basically have a more effective deck that does what you are attempting to do.

Again, I'm not concerned about the people. I'm concerned about the imbalance between elements. Handicaps tries to ensure some degree of fairness between the elements. As you stated people can change but the cards/prevailing strategies do not change.

I follow professional starcraft and what happens there is the mapmakers make maps that are biased towards the worst performing race in previous seasons/leagues. They could sometimes get it a good degree imbalanced but at least everybody gets a chance to not do badly rather than having one thing constantly outperforming. Perhaps starcraft isn't a good example but I feel it fits well because the competitors are very stuck in terms of the race they use.
