Gravity / Re: Gravity Vault

I've made a more final list for the vault. I've tried to incorporate a number of different strategies so we can get something more across the board.

I doubt tridents.

The real problem is the cheapness of Freeze. Not to mention Ice Shield is really good as well.

Perhaps something effective would be to fight water with water and pack purifies and freezes and lots of cheap creatures, abyss crawler, golems, otyugh.

Dimensional shields cost too much. I think what would be good is Lightning as it kills in 1 hit and costs only 2. Again Quintessence costs too much so I think Otyugh with some Momentum to make them have 4 hp to eat shriekers is good. Then just have some cheapish creatures which is basically golem. Golem isn't very good though.

An alternative is fire with Fire bolts/Rage potion to kill creatures and Fire Eaters as our damage source. It is more vulnerable to Reverse time though. Throwing in a Fire shield may be handy too.

I don't think they will use their shield so chargers aren't very necessary.

The shield is expensive though and one could basically lose the game already once a shield is able to be played.

I think Fire has quite a few options against us but Fire works best by itself. Fire could need a lot of Pillars (unless it's Immolation deck). An effective deck could be 9 Earth Pillars, 5 Earthquake, 1 Pulverizer with 15 Gravity cards.

Now of course Fire could use Enchant Artifact with Earth mark to power Golems but Enchant Artifact isn't really something that is exclusive for Gravity. But it could also be an Immolation deck which can bring in annoying rainbow elements like Freeze.

The real problem with Fire is Rage potion. We could counter that with Momentum for our Fire Eaters....

I don't really see one counter for Fire.

Not sure about a deck for Life but they would be really scared of Otyugh so they will have to add some creature destruction or Quintessence to their decks. This would slow them down so a generic deck that's all about dealing damage quickly might be the way to go for us so perhaps golems and Fire Eaters with Fire Shield to stop their weak creatures.

Shriekers are scared of Otyugh and basilisk blood and Reverse Time are there to stop them. Only a few Earthquake because anticipating not too many pillars.

Against Gravity, Entropy don't need anything special from any other element. Discord's purpose is obvious. Lycanthrope is used because it is cheap and allows the expensive Antimatter to be used. Mutation is there to stop any annoying Otyugh who would eat Lycanthrope before they use their ability.

In this case, not as many Mutations are required because Abominations have 5 HP.

I would think something like the above 2 are the only real possibilities. Perhaps also Fallen Elf with Mark of Life instead of Mutations but Fallen Elf are expensive and are themselves vulnerable to Otyugh.

Gravity / Re: Gravity Vault

I have made a preliminary list.

Perhaps there are too many Novas but I like them because they provide the ability to use a variety of effective cheap cards. Perhaps Novas are just bad and too random of a strategy.

I also would like more Gravity cards but I also don't want to limit our options.... I should add some Momentum. Perhaps some Discord....

Note that we do have a little bit more time to make our ideas and preferably we should test some out.

I do think I should look at it more from a mono-gravity point of view firstly and then try to add cards from other elements if the other elements can easily deal with mono-gravity one way or another. We need to concentrate on flexible cards that can work in a variety of situations to get the maximum use out of our Vault. I think the optimal Vault would be consisting of cards that can counter as best as possible anything the other elements can dish out + some other Gravity cards.

As an example, the deck Smokefree has shown is basically the best deck against Aether. Perhaps some tweaks may be necessary like more Gravity Pull and less Shockwave because I don't think we need 3. Also Maybe 1 more shield. This deck could also work against Air and Light.

I just saw that it is now max 6 of a card from another element....

We will have a thread like this for each round (Round 1 - Decks, Round 2 - Decks, etc.). The first post must show all the decks your team will be using during that round. Decks provided in the template are just placeholders. Use this thread for deck strategy discussion.

Tournament Archive / Re: Eastern Tournament May 29 Sign ups

I will be going out for a couple of hours and I might not make it back in time for the start of the tournament (I don't really have an idea of when I'll be back).

So if someone else with high enough authority, whether the person is listed as an organiser or some other staff or master (or Dragoon who seem to have helped with one tourney earlier), is there to take over at the time then don't hesitate.

You should use the Challonge website and post the image of the brackets here.

Gravity / Re: Gravity Vault
« on: May 26, 2010, 02:54:46 pm »
Since we need to use decks with more than half of the cards from Gravity, we should look to have a Vault with more than half from Gravity. This includes Pillars so we can't just take 18 of every other Gravity card.

I would say 2 cards we definitely need to take 18 of are Sapphire Charger and Otyugh. Sapphire Charger is Gravity's best attacker and Otyugh plays a large part too.

I also really like Black Hole and think we should take 18 of that. It would come in handy because I doubt many of our opponents will go mono on us.
Similarly I really like Gravity Pull especially in this unupgraded format because it costs 2 quanta unlike almost all the other one creature killing spells which cost 3 {Lightning only costs 2 as well} (instead of all costing 1 in the upgraded format). So I think we should take 18 of Gravity Pull.

All the other cards are situational or we don't need many. Probably having 12 Titans would be more than enough and I think 6 Gravity Shield should be more than enough as well.
Out of the rest Graviton Fire Eater is the best card. I don't know how many to take but it would depend on what decks we think up.
