Gravity / Re: Round 2 - Strategy

Problem with unupgraded otyugh is that its health just isn't good enough. So many creatures have 3 or more.

However, it would be unwise to just ignore otyugh because their other options aren't very good. I do think killing or controlling otyugh with freeze is their best chance and something to counter that would work.

As for me, against Darkness I think a fire deck would be the best counter to the deck plastiqe used. In all likelihood they won't use that again so I'm not so sure. I suppose I can also pack some free Holy Flashes (3 of them) and Gravity Shield to stop Aether Dragons which is the anti-light deck they used. So I suppose I'm thinking Fire Masters with gravity pull to kill any lycanthropes (fire bolt won't do if the lycanthropes use their skill). Should be fairly low in terms of quanta usage.

Sorry I haven't been around to discuss things; I should remember to frequent the forums more but I am busy with exams atm.

Anyways, the discards/salvages look alright.

I'd just like to give a friendly reminder that we don't want to concentrate on discarding gravity cards and keeping non-gravity cards. The problem the Gravity vault had last war was that we lost too many gravity cards over time and we couldn't pick them up because it is rare for opponents to use gravity cards.

Many disconnects and big troubles finding each other but at the end it was pretty stable.

I would have probably fared decently if it wasn't for the always early Arsenic but that's life.

Not enough or good enough creature control to stop him from doing enough damage. Both games that we completed were very similar.

Well, my deck will probably depend on what cebra and 918273645 feel they need to defeat their opponents. I feel like I can have many options with the 3 upgraded cards I can use.

With Death they can basically go two routes. One is all out player killing with dragons and poison. Another is defending by killing creatures and killing you with poison slowly.

Against both decks Purify works really well alongside some creature destruction with Gravity Pull (because Otyugh might not get big enough to eat dragons). The problem with Gravity Pull is it must be used with creatures who don't have momentum which means we can get blocked by Bone Wall and all the creature killing will feed the Wall....

They won't have any healing (most probably) so a semi-stall deck relying on Titan to deal all the damage can work. Black Holes to heal and deny them quickly snowballing their poison stacks. I can also use 2 Amber Nymphs.

The thing about poison is that we don't really need much. Losing out on 1 turn of poison is only 3 damage. I just don't feel that bone pillars are worth it to have. I would get some if we wanted some Bone Walls but those are too expensive anyway.

Not sure we want any Chimera at all; don't think it is useful in really any circumstance.
Also, I'm not sure about the Pillar/Pendulum balance we have. In general the decks I used in masters battles were heavily for Pendulums. Pendulums are also more flexible because they are just like Pillars if we use Gravity mark.

Just going to say a bit now; will try to look at things more later

We want Wings; Wings are great and are cheap.
I don't like Steal. Costs quite a bit and generally there isn't anything too great to Steal. Even if there is I don't feel it is very worth it.
More Reflective Shield. 2 is not enough. I would say 2 is not enough for 1 deck.
I'd like more Black Holes. Black Holes are great. Using 4 quanta to deny more than 4 is very worthwhile and even if it's below 4 it could really slow down opponents.
More Titans. Pretty much we should always take at least 1 Titan. It is the best offensive card we have. So 9 people with a Titan each needs 9. However, there are certain cases when a flying Titan deck is good. So I think we should take 14-19 Titans.
Get rid of Burning pillars; we don't need 12 of them. Gravity pendulum is more flexible and can generally provide what we need.
Same with Stone Pillars.
Now Bone Pillars, I'm not so sure about
More Holy Light
No Eternity; don't have the quanta generation to run it. Titan is generally better.

Generally, we have too many cards there in the list atm.

Gravity / Re: Vault
« on: October 19, 2010, 08:26:25 am »
150 pillars/pendulums are probably too many.

Last war vault was a big factor in Gravity not doing its best. We didn't have enough gravity cards overall not just pillars.

I'd say we want to have around 2/3 to 3/4 of our vault as Gravity cards and probably 1/3 of the gravity cards as pillars/pendulums.

As for conversion, "As a new rule in War #2, teams now have the option to convert some of their cards. This means that they can replace any card in their Vault with a Pillar or a Pendulum of their element. Converting helps teams to avoid a situation where they would be otherwise forced to build "suicide" decks. Converting will be done by the Vault Organizer who posts on the Vault topic which cards are converted, and then editing the Vault. Teams can convert a maximum of 12 cards per round."

So with this rule we should err to the side of less pillars/pendulums just so we have more utility with the other cards. If we need then we convert to pillars/pendulums. One must note that cards cannot be converted to anything that is not a pillar/pendulum.

Gravity / Re: Deck ideas

Many decks are situational so while having them is not useless it isn't too useful. I'd prefer to make decks from a ground up sort of way by identifying what our opponents are likely to play and attempting to counter it while maintaining a good balance between every one.

Ok, just to be sure

Substitute can temporarily replace any team member during duels, and can salvage 3 cards if he or she wins (other players substituting cannot salvage anything).
...
That means, I can replace other players and when I win, I am allowed to salvage 3 cards, instead of 0, right?
Yes, that should be correct.

Do I start the "salvaging/discarding" topic now, or every round?
(Also, should I change my avatar to something more gravity-related?)
Salvaging/Discarding was done every round last war.

I personally don't care for avatars but I'm merely a Lieutenant :P

How about Poiseidon (the water weapon)? Its pillar/pendulum destruction skill is not labelled as earthquake.
Ah yes, that would be overpowered as well. I'll ban that.

Would we not be allowed to fill our decks with pendulums the same as our mark. I assume you wouldn't want us all making monos with pendulums instead of pillars.
Just use pendulums; I don't see monos having too much advantage over other combos although a mono gravity with Black Hole might be too strong so I will also ban Black Hole to give more incentive to non-mono.

Why I would make a good War team member
I am a past Master so I have experience running things and in wars.

I believe I am a good strategist. I am an experienced player.

I did state my favourite elements; that doesn't really mean too much since I am here and open to being in any team really.

Also don't look too much into my card numbers. I can generally upgrade what I want.
