I think that a possible solution may be this:

The number of consecutive wins required is decreased for low-level players (less than level 10, or 15).

This way newbies may win rares more easily, like top50... That remains still slightly more difficult thought, since bronze league can have 150+ hp, but we can compare it to the old level 5, now lv4...

Well, at the end is Zanz the one who will decide the best name for the shards, I think...
So even if "Courage" would fit better for my shard, if it will win the competition Zanz will probably rename it, so it's ok...
Anyway, i saw a "Shard of Honor" in hb2007's Profile Pictures... It doesn't count, right? I don't want to change my name again...

Due to Essence's post about posting shards that advantage their elements (and the next about posting unupped too), i'm re-posting my shard:

The creature finds the courage to put its strength to the limit, but the price might be too high for it...
Every time you end a turn, there is a (10+X)% probability that the creature dies, AFTER he attacks (its final attack!

)
X starts from 0 and is increased by 5 every turn.
For the upped version,

creatures start from 0%!
