What do you do when you get bored of facing the same FGs and slow stalldecks? Some faster grinding. Then the question, whether play T50 or AI3. Well AI3 is full of farms, you wanna have some fun, so lets go beat up AI3. But within 30 mins you have to realise that you are facing the same decks over and over again.... And then you think.... "More AI3 decks por favor"

I think there should be a greater variety of AI3 decks. Somewhere (if approved) we should have possible decks posted and with the help of the community and trainer we can make them balanced. There are loads of possible combinations, which, imo, could be the base for great AI3 decks. These decks should have some rares as well. However, not all of the decks should possess rares, simply because this would make huge difference in the value of the rares. (Half the decks with rares, half without I would suggest)

If we consider adding all the rares (14) in separate decks and then (14) other decks (approximates) these would make a balanced collection of AI3 decks (I think at least). This would be useful in many ways, new players (and those who lack them) could have more ways of getting rares, while playing an interesting and versatile collection of decks. The more types, the better I think. New player would also benefit from these decks, they would face many types, learn and improve themselves.

So... How about creating new decks for AI3? (I think we should keep the decks what we have now, they are good and balanced, we should focus on new ones imo)

ps:maybe a new post should be started for this discussion, idk...

Ulitharid seems to be balanced for me... And what do you mean by same cards? for 1 :water +1 +2 is a good addition imo.

If you don't want nymphs, rare weapons, rare cards and shards added to the starter pack, then you should remove then the poll, they got 3-8-10-3 votes respectively. Just a suggestion to concentrate the votes of the people for more important and valuable options.

I also got a lot of great information from this forum and the wiki, but in my opinion (my perspective may be skewed), looking up decklists all the time can ruin a new players' experimentation phase just as much as a 'starter pack' can, if not more.

I personally enjoyed the "preparing phase"for elements. I looked up decks, strategies, elements and cards on wiki, before starting and account for myself. This might not be the same for others, but I always found it interesting to look up new and interesting ideas, even just in the form of decklists and strategies.

You could also look up Trainer to try out new decks and see how they work. This can be really interesting also and you get to learn many new concepts without having to spend money on the cards. I think new players should be told these options, this could make it easier for them to try out new ideas.

Would "Opponent gains 3 quanta of his or her Mark."fit? The symbol would just be confusing....
I like the idea, but wouldn't it fit light better? Not sure other is the best fit... And then you could really have light darkness duos. :))
Would rain of fire, etc, remove this ability?
All the cards are intentionally other to represent it being a Pseudo-Element.
"Opponent gains 3 quanta of his or her mark." may fit on some cards (like this one), but it normally will not on most of the Void cards since they all have their own effects. To be consistent it's better that a quantum symbol is used.
AoE CC like RoF would remove this, but that would be counterproductive since you'd be using your own AoE CC to disable your own permanent.
Thanks for clearing it up, the link for the series didn't work for me (messed up forums...).
Maybe just give them an ability, "Void" and just like its with Chargers (momentum) it's not explained there, but everyone would know what they mean. Just an idea, because the extra mark is still confusing.
My idea of RoF was just because it removes invisibility, and whether you don't see your opponent or yourself, it's still invisibility. How about Pandemonuim then? Or Unstable Gas? (just ideas, when you'd affect your creatures as well.

This might have been said before, but I'm writing this response after seeing the poll in the beginning.
Chance for Nymphs? Rare weapons? Rare cards? NO!
Let's start with the easiest, nymphs. I think everyone would agree that they would love to get more of them, but by doing this we would make nymphs not that rare at all! The thrill of oracle (and certain pvp events) would be lost, if nymphs weren't that rare anymore. I have 3 nymphs, but even though I'd love to get more, I don't think making them available for everyone just for money, it's just not what nymphs are for.

Rare weapons and cards. Go farm! I think I had most necessiary rare cards within a week or two after starting the game. I know most of this thanks goes to rare card farms, but I think this is the same for all new players (this issue will be more accurate to discuss when T500 will be introduced and farms eliminated). I started with a phoenix based deck, switched to golem rush and I HAD FUN. Farming AI3 and Top50 was not boring. There are many great decks you get to face, Top50 is changing constantly, I would not consider this as boring at all.

My friend started playing the game a week ago and I helped him out with how to start (he picked life, adrenalined frogs and a couple heals) and withing 1-2 hours he had collected over 1000 electrums. It's not much if you're a more experienced player, but for new players it's a lot. And he didn't sell a single card, collected 5-6 rares. After this you could make any decks (without rares you lack of course) and go farm for more rares and electrum. I don't think it's too boring or much of an issue. If you think it's boring after a few hours, you will get bored anyway.

Starter pack wouldn't be a bad idea, but come on, no rares and nymphs. Sample decks could also be useful, but you can get the electrums needed quickly anyway. It is a good idea to support new players, but I think an introduction to forums, wiki and possibly mentoring would be way more useful than giving cards away for money... I got more help from wiki, than a whole bunch of free cards would have been for me, when I (as a total newby) didn't even know how to play the game properly.

General Discussion / Re: Quitters!!
« on: April 10, 2011, 08:29:44 pm »
I usually don't autoquit any games, but i do quit them once it's impossible for me to win. Seeing a gravity nymph from dark matter, when playing CCYB (rainbow and without sanctuaries, *makes a note to include them*) is pretty close to quiting. However you might get lucky, FGs get bad draws and then you can win with all the odds against you.

besides mechanics, in concept it doesn't make sense. eagles don't hunt in a pack.
scarab is more like a plague, which is why scarab is more acceptable with swarm.
but eagles intend to be more solitary hunters and rather get pissed at another eagle for interfering with its hunt.
so overall, the concept is just wrong.
Agreed :) Probably you should look for another bird, which goes in groups. And with the balancing you should work with. N/2 sounds a lot better, however, eagles (if you want to keep the name) are strong, so eagles with 1 attack are, not too fitting either :)

The real problem with immaterial (now that I thought clearly about it) is that it's enough to chain for 10 turn. You start stalling with your shields circa 10-14 turns and then just play 2 of these fields, will give you 20-24 turns of invincibility. An average rush deck will deck out in 22-23 turns, depending on the coin toss. So without even thinking about 30 turns of chaining, you have 2 of these in your hand after 14 turns (dim shield, lobo, lighting, mindgate, so stalling for 14 turns) and then you play 2 of this card (even increased cost, you will have 20  :aether. And just wait for deckout. I don't know how many decks are at 30 cards, but I think easily the majority of them.

In this case it was just 2 cards, with 3 you can win a game after stalling for 9 turns!! Thats why immaterial is a problem...
this being Immaterial isn't just a simple problem, its simply OP, whether it creates a problem for balancing, comparing to dim shield etc. Its OP, because this can possibly = perfect win guarantee, along side dim shield.
Well that's what I'm saying... with examples :)
If your opponent can't do anything but watch... that's a not balanced card... However I like the original idea, but without immaterial possibly, or any way it becomes balanced.

how about just an increased cost, of say 10/9?
imo that would make it more balanced... but I don't have the experience to tell you what to do :), I prefer to leave fine tuning for more experienced players. Saving up 60/54 quanta would be harder than saving up 48/36, so that seems to be more balanced.

It seems random... but maybe just getting worse...
