Design Theory / Re: Pre-Smithy Ideas
« on: April 25, 2011, 04:36:48 pm »
After getting annoyed by a particularly bad  case of RNG, while trying to create a trio, I had the idea (might've been done in some form).

Quantum Pendulum
Target two cards. Quantum Pendulum will alternately generate quanta matching their marks.

It would work in the same way as a pendulum does.
The card you target first would become the base of the card (target a phoenix, becomes and Fire Pendulum like card) and generate that card in the first turn.
The card you target second would become the mark of the card (same as if you mark was there) and generate that quanta on the second turn.

Targeting would be possible on your side, your opponents or in your hand.

This could give more chance to trio and quartet decks (if only vaguely relying on one type of quanta) and also reduce bad cases of RNG.

Note:If the same type of card (twice a water card) is targeted, Quantum Pendulum would turn into a pillar effectively (Water Pillar in this case)
Note:If the target is Other type, Quantum Pendulum will act as a Quantum Tower.

The upgraded version will generate quanta matching the first targeted card, when played.

Is this a possibility?

A simple fire stall or mono aether will beat almost any HB, but only selected or none FG. HB, imho, are only worth until you get a good deck against FG.

Try trainer if you wanna prepare for FG, HB is a different pie :)

completely off topic, but as a minor suggestion: if there was a link from the match result to actual battle thread, it would be easier to navigate through matches you haven't seen the results of. Just saying  ;)
That seems like a lot of work. You can always go to result, choose the current Round and you will see the "new" sign next to those, which you missed.

Decks which are good against FG will do  good against HB as well. However you might beat HB and get pwned against FG.

Game Suggestions and Feedback / Re: Pandemonium and PU Effect

Switching PU, or all other effects as well, just doesn't make any sense.

What you are suggesting this way is the following.
You ALWAYS do NEGATIVE effect to YOURSELF, but OCCASIONALLY you do POSITIVE effect to your OPPONENT!. So you are damaging your own creatures 100% of the time, but only 91.666666% of the time damage your opponent.
You are suggesting to make a card, which would benefit your opponent more than it would benefit you!! (Now not considering circumstances in which things would be different)
Also I assume you'd make the changes only for unupped and leave the upped as it is now.

If you really want to change PU, you should suggest taking it out of the mix altogether (BluePriest said I know), because making a field spell benefiting the OPPONENT is just nonsense...
actually, they are saying when it  PU's your creature, put it  the opponents, and when it PU's the opponents creature put it on yours. So it would still effect both players equally, but it changes how TU works for pandemonium.
oh i see.... *still disagrees*

Oh thanks;)
Has one of the creators succeeded to chose and fulfill those requirements, which i misunderstood, should have my vote:)

You cannot use the word, 'Elite', in the card NAME.
The COST of both cards must be an even number. (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12...)
Both cards cannot have the same COST.
The COST of both cards must be a minimum of 7 quanta. (Example: Obsidian Dragon, Thorn Carapace, Rain of Fire)
The COST of both cards needs to be equal to the number of characters (numbers and letters) in your forum name. (Example: Kuroaitou = 9 letters; the card must cost 9 quanta)

Okay, something must be changed. How do they find 2 different numbers, which both equal to their forum names? One of the option should be dropped or Math is different within the realms of elements :P

hmmm fine.... Devourers then? I have the bad habit of confusing upped and unupped cards :)

Would Gnome Rider, Pest and Dragonfly be banned? Since they generate quanta as well?
Just to add to the FAQ.

Game Suggestions and Feedback / Re: Pandimonium and PU Effect

The point I'm making is as follows

Whenever you cast a damaging spells it damages the creatures, whichever side they are on. You might just as well do positive effects with damaging your own creatures. Damage on Voodoo Dolls is inflicted on the opponent, you could kill malignant cells and other creatures occupying your space.

Whenever you cast freeze, RT, gravity pull it effects the creatures the same way whichever side they are on. You might get to do some good with these though. RT might be used on a highly damaged creature of your own, gravity pull on a high HP one or help you survive and freeze (taking AI3 for example) used on Voodoo Dolls to freeze the opponents weapon. True, there are no guarantees, you will hit the creatures you'd like to with the certain spells, but it's the same with every spell! You could simply get a shockwave on the opponent's Animated Titan, leading to positive results equal to 0 (mostly).

Whenever you cast PU, you get the creatures. Therefore (following the logic of PU and the way all other cards worked before) YOU should get the targeted creature. You might be lucky, or unlucky again, you might not get anything useful (Ash for example in a mono  :entropy deck).

The idea behind Pandemonium is that it will cast certain spells at creatures. Why would only PU be reversed from it's original use if other spells might have positive effects too? Should those positive effects be reversed as well? I'm not saying, that PU is negative, mostly positive (again situationally can be (Malignant Cells)), but the other effects can be positive as well! So therefore I don't think it's valid to claim that PU should be reversed, because based on this argument all gaining from Pandemonium (frozen opponent weapon, damaging opponent, RTing damaged creatures, etc) should all be reversed.

I hope I made my point more clear this time. :) (And pretty long..... :D)

Disagree.

When you cast a PU on either your on your opponents creatures you get the copy. Since effectively you (or the AI) uses PU, then you (or the AI) should get the targeted creature. So whoever casts pandemonium will get the resulting creature.
