Random, Normal and Elder / Gold gaining methods?

Hey guys.  So I'd like to build myself up to get a False God farming deck at some point.  I initially was playing a Dark/Death deck, and farmed level 3's.  I switched over to pure fire, and the matches went faster.  Still though, I need to get 1500 to upgrade a card.  That seems like it takes forever, and that's just for ONE card...  I've gotten a few rares I can sell, but it's still taking a very long time.

What do you guys do to gain gold quickly?  Does it just take an extremely long time to farm, and that's how it is?
