Water / Re: Flooding | Inundation
« on: September 24, 2011, 06:21:23 pm »
I agree, this only really is useful against FFQ, Pharaoh decks, and some Fractal decks. I understand Tikos point about how lots of cards gain a bonus vs different decks, but I don't know how you can say that Flooding is anywhere near as versatile as Reverse Time, Dimensional Shield, and the others you said. Flooding is 100% useless vs a very broad range of decks but then completely shuts down a few archetypes. Black Hole is obviously much better versus rainbow decks but still has a decent effect versus monos and duos- and even if it didn't decks that use a lot of different elements are a lot more common than spam decks.

I think something like "enemies can't use abilities/your abilities are free" would be better. Something that can be useful in most of the games you play.

Buff This Card! / Shards
« on: September 24, 2011, 06:04:38 pm »
Every shard needs a massive thematic buff. A little piece of rock which arbitrarily does x effect is literally the most boring card idea I have ever seen in my life. Why are so many of these being made? All of them cost :rainbow and most of them aren't even affiliated with any element- their cost is even devoid of anything interesting (which also promotes rainbow decks and those dreadful quantum pillars but that's another story).

I mean some of these abilities are kind of interesting, couldn't they be worked in in a cool way?

See your opponent's hand on successful attack.

A card that allows you to use temporary control like Cloak and Silence to good effect. Not really overpowered as most decks just try to rush out creatures or set up a combo as fast as possible, not much of what the enemy does factors in. Also it's in life which doesn't have very much control.

Waterlogged
A soaked and dripping parchment

Delay target permanent 2 turns

The game needs more permanent control and water needs less suck.

You win a cookie if you can guess what the first two reference.

Game Suggestions and Feedback / Stacking Permanents
« on: September 24, 2011, 12:11:14 am »
How come only pillars stack? I think it would be great if timer-less permanents like Empathic Bond and Mindgate stacked. I don't know why they don't- you never need to specifically target one of several identical permanents. This would not only reduce board clogging but also pave the way for mass soft permanent control- ie. delay target cluster of permanents for x number of turns. The game is lacking in permanent control and soft control is much more interesting than hard- and the ability to temporarily shut down all of your enemy's Sanctuaries for a few turns would be great. In addition you could also have better permanent protection, ie. protect target permanent cluster from destruction for x number of turns. Protect Artifact could be changed to protect only one permanent of a non pillar cluster, if that's a balance issue.

Introduce Yourself / Re: tired of yu gi oh

Chains in elements would be pretty funny. "I deflagrate your farenheight!" "I deflagerate your deflageration!" "I deflagerate your deflageration deflagerating my deflageration!" Or steal battles. "I steal your shield!" "I steal it right back!" "And I steal it back again!"
Some of my friends used to play Yu Gi Oh pretty intensely and sometimes I'd watch or play with their spare cards (which they had a lot of). It literally looked exactly like that. There is a card called Counter Counter which is only used to counter counters and counter counter can be used to counter another counter counter. In one encounter with counter counter I lost count of all the counter counter countering. Anyways enough Dr. Seuss.

Welcome to the forums!

Duo-Decks / Re: Night Terror (Unupped Entropy Darkness Control)
« on: September 23, 2011, 08:56:18 pm »
Thanks for all the feedback guys!

I messed around with less Cloaks and I found that while less was enough to pull off the combo my precious creatures were left very vulnerable. I think the constant protection from both creature and permanent control is just as important as the creature control Pandemonium dishes out. Also, being constantly cloaked looks snazzy.

@tribal: I hadn't thought of that. Discord would be a great addition, but I don't have one so I can't try (and I don't like using trainer). But on the other hand the Stiletto isn't bad either, as this deck doesn't really mind if your opponent is playing cards, and the Stiletto is great for its cost.

One problem I'm having is that the quanta usage is way off, and the pendulums swings slow down the deck considerably. But at the same time I'm finding that I can't just use pillars as then I'm prone to not getting what I need and you need a small but steady supply of each element right from the beginning. I'm thinking of running the Pandemoniums off the mark and replacing the Lycans with Dragons so I get a better damage per card count ratio (though I'm saddened by the loss of that nice Entropy-Darkness synergy). Maybe a Nightmare or too as well to heal and slow down the opponent's draw. Might or might not be too slow on the Pandes, I dunno. I think this combo has good potential, in particular I think Cloak is an underused card; It just needs to be polished.

Now that you mention it it does seem like it might be a glitch. I never thought of that before- it felt right to me once I found it. It works consistently, is interesting, and isn't a particular strong combo- I don't see no reason why we can't call the glitch a feature.

I was messing around with doing mass Cloak and I found that when you have Cloak up, Pandemonium doesn't affect your own creatures. Pandemonium is cheap and powerful CC, its only weakness (aside from unpredictability) being that it messes up your own dudes as well. I hope hope hope this deck has never been done before. I know the combo is known about, but I searched as hard as I could and couldn't find anything that used it, aside from a rainbow that had two Cloaks and two Pandemoniums- though I think the cloaks were more to protect the shields.

Anyways the point of this deck is to field the cost efficient Werewolves, 6|6 for only 2 :entropy and 2  :darkness, using Cloak to cover them if there is some weak CC about (Otyugh, Eagle's Eye, Rage Potions). You then use Pandemonium to clear out enemy creatures- it's so inexpensive you can use it on single enemies in a lot of cases. To top it off you have Steals to deal with permanents. If I do say so myself it's pretty intimidating seeing only darkness on the enemy field and torrent of harmful effects on yours. :D

However this deck has a few notable weaknesses, one being an especial weakness to bad starting hands due to its high quanta consumption and slow damage output due to few monsters.

Possible variations: Less Cloaks and Pandemoniums, more meaty monsters like dragons, Abominations, or Gargoyles. more Steals, quanta rearrangement, Butterfly Effect for unboosted Lycantropes.

This is my first deck submission, I hope I did it ok.

Introduce Yourself / Howdy
« on: September 23, 2011, 12:27:56 am »
Heya guys, been playing this game for a while now, sucked into the repetitive grindy fun of Elements. I've been reading the forums a lot, in awe of all the creative decks but also disappointed that all the things I thought I came up with have been done before :p.  Today I finally made what may be a somewhat unique deck archetype, so I thought I might make an account to post it.

I hope to have fun in some PvP events (maybe I'll finally get a Nymph? :D) and shout in caps about the imbalance of this or that card!
