Yes you're right I saw this a few days ago. I'll update card text accordingly when I find some time.

Anyway, thanks to people who voted for this card, now let's go to the armory :D

Hi The Mormegil :)

Yes I kinda disappeared due to personal reasons (being sick, looking for a job, and many other things like that); I seriously lack the time (for now, but hopefully it'll get better later) to progress on Earth Temple, so all apologizes :/

BTW, I voted for your card a few weeks ago, hopefully it'll go to the Forge ^^

Thanks man :)
This was done in ZBrush, but I use ZBrush only to create models (it's a 3D Sculpting software). So apart from unfinished parts, the actual render (in the coliseum with all the things) is yet to be made. After the render, slight images adjustments are made in Photoshop (lightning, ambiance, etc...), and if you want you can check how a final render looks like at my gallery (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,18400.0.html) (see robot, :life Temple, or Entangled Roots art in the last 2 spoilers)

Also ZBlader, is this guy ok for you?

Erf, I began creating the main character without seeing your message about the design, anyway, I though since it's in a coliseum, an antiquity-style warrior would suit this better, so here is what I did so far. It's still not finished, (missing armor parts + eyeballs), but the WIP look like this:

I'll keep you updated when progresses are made

Thanks Anonymous. And no, it's not floating: it's unfinished :P

And The Mormegil is right: it's supposed to be the :earth symbol, but I think I'll rework this part. Also, I think I'll try to create a cave ambiance, I think it suits better the current draw.

Also, I didn't comment it, but I'm happy :life Temple art blends well with card :)

Ok, but just so you know, I placed this character & creatures only for illustration purposes (sou you could figure out what I'm preparing). I think your Combatants should be humanoids, unless you want to keep these little pets (but then I'd change the name). And same for main guy: it's just an imported model, but I still need to create a charac. with some fighting pose + the sword.

Also, you want a close-up for the Combatant card art?

Yeah, it finally made it into the Crucible (totally forgot to check  ::) )
Thanks for people who helped me on this topic (and for people who voted for this card :P )

Totally agree, but Intuos is not the same price :(
And for even bigger budgets, there's this Cintiq series
(more info here: http://www.wacom.com/cintiq/cintiq-21ux.php)

Never tried it, but I feel that with this baby, drawing things just become unfair :P

But at my skill level, a Bamboo is enough, I tried the Intuos, but I don't think I can take full advantage of it since I'm not good at hand drawing.

Also, thanks for answer about my version of Harpy. Tell me if I'm wrong, but on second look, I think that:
- The body shape looks more like a man than a woman (especially shoulders, thighs)
- Face is definitely weird
- Wing bones are too large. Wing shapes need rework.

Anyway, good luck with your sketches, I'm looking forward your critique :)

So if I understand, you basically want a drawing of your main character in a fighting pose, while being outnumbered by enemies? I just thought of something like this:

It's just a sketchy WIP, and about it:
- it's supposed to be sort of a coliseum where your main guy would be a the center, surrounded and fighting his enemies
- character & creatures were imported, I only created environment
- the whole thing needs texturing (that's why it's all grey).
- also, I think something is needed between the two big doors, but I have no idea about what to put in there.

If you like the concept, I'll think of what I can do to finish the job.

Thanks guys :)
And sorry if I don't reply even if I see your messages, but I'd like to avoid double-posts so I'll answer you when I do an update, at the same time. Click on images to get full resolution.

Here is another image for the Fractal Series:

On a sidenote, here are WIPs I'm currently working on:

Earth Temple:

The Harpy (Creature, See Art Class section):

I'll update 1st post when these 2 projects are completed.

After the Christmas break, back to temple business... :)

Finally, I decided to make an Earth Temple, it's still a work in progress, so preview is not of best quality, but it'll give you an idea of how it is so far. Only problem is: I have absolutely no idea about what i'll put on sides and background of image  :-X

Here is preview:

Earth Temple - 1st Shot (840x630 picture)

If you have ideas or suggestions (especially concerning the background I could draw), that would really be helpful.

Hello vrt!

Nice art, I love the colors and shapes :)
But I highly doubt someone could draw this without a pen tablet. Or maybe it's possible, but IMO it would be 10x longer for a 10x worse result. I agree that tools doesn't make the artist, yet, certain tools provides an quantum leap in terms of productivity :P

Since we're in Art Class, I though that you can help me about a few things. I created a 3D model inspired from your art, though I'm not really an artist. I'm rather a technician, hence I know nothing about anatomy, along many other things. So maybe you can give me some advices to adjust body proportions, or to fine-tune details (like nose, skin, face expression...)?

Here are two views of the model:

Harpy, step by step (from skeleton to current result). Image is 2Mb so you have to click on the following link, if you want to view the "making-of":

On a sidenote, eyeballs and hair will come later, once sculpting is completed. Same for clothing. And I didn't bother sculpting ears, they'll be covered by hair.
