Multilingual / Questions about English?

This is a thread for people to either
(1) ask for help with English words, sayings, or grammar
(2) offer to help with such things (by PM for people who don't want to ask in front of the whole board)

Some of our volunteers also speak other languages:
an alien - Português
Astrocyte - Pусский язык
Higurashi - Svenska

I hope the idea doesn't offend anyone -- I'm not trying to "fix" anybody, or imply that any non-native English speakers (writers) on this forum aren't good enough or need to get better. But I love studying languages, and it helps me a lot when I can ask a native speaker about things that aren't in dictionaries and textbooks. So I thought maybe I could return the favor here.

Good thing I searched before posting this over again.

Usually my forum names are comic book references, but I decided I wanted something different when I was signing up for this one. I guess I was feeling science-nerdy at the time. Astrocytes are a type of brain cell, so named because they usually have a star shape or starburst shape.

I know some. I can hold a basic conversation and talk about school-related things (right now I'm doing an internship at a school for the deaf).

Excellent free website for teaching yourself ASL: http://www.lifeprint.com/index.htm
It's organized into short, practical themed lessons with vocabulary and practice sentences and dialogues. The site's dictionary is kind of small and there aren't videos for everything ('cause it's one guy with a day job running the site off donations). But you can search "asl dictionary" and find all kinds of those.

Which is your favourite metal band? Right now, I'm on an Ozzy renaissance, but I couldn't ever pick just one -- off the top of my head: Anthrax, Megadeth, Helmet, Fear Factory, Beautiful Creatures, Fight, Demons & Wizards (best parts of both member bands IMO), Black Label Society (or anything else Zakk Wylde ever does really), Type O Negative... I also have a significant weakness for hair metal.
Which is your favourite song? Dream Theater, "Pull Me Under"
And your favourite ballad? Testament, "Return to Serenity"
What concert was the best you've gone to? Only one I've ever been to was Dream Theater, but it was fantastic
