General Discussion / Re: How do I upload a picture for my profile?

People tend to forget that whenever someone posts something, it is usually an opinion. When it's not an opinion but instead pure facts, they don't want to accept it, especially if it proves them wrong.

And therein lies the flaw of any karma system: stupid people. :))

Game Suggestions and Feedback / Re: Login - Press Enter
« on: February 26, 2010, 01:20:31 pm »
I'm one of those types who just loves to be able to type in all my info and then hit enter. But on the game we can not do that. It's not a major change or anything, but it would just be nice to be able to do.
Are you talking about logging into the game? Just type your username, hit Tab, type password, hit Tab, and press Enter. One extra keystroke isn't too big of a deal in my opinion. Although, it was kind of weird to get used to at first, because I like to just press Enter too.

Glad I found this. I was wondering when I could have ANY type of avatar image...  ;D

And Kael, if I could give out karma, I would help you out. I have no idea why you have -1.

General Discussion / Re: What Nymphs are actually worth it?

I also thought about it going well with Gravity Shield, but it still doesn't help it enough. The more I look at it, the more I think that it is the most useless Nymph...
Clearly you've never been locked down by a squid. She's a squid that 6congeals things in a mono earth deck. If anything it's one of the more OP nymphs.
Those Squids are not nearly as costly though. Even its ability costs one less quantum. You can throw them out early game with ease, whereas you might have to wait a few turns to throw out the Nymph.

Again, this is all just my opinion. Until I see an Earth Nymph work effectively in a mono earth deck (or even a duo deck), I will continue to think that it's one of the lesser, or single worst, Nymphs.

My answer to that question: Because an upgraded Basilisk Blood is 6.5 times cheaper in quantum and runs less risk of wasting a ton of quantum.

If your Nymph gets Rewinded (Rewound?), that's a wasted 9 quantum AND a -1 card draw. With today's metagame run by Rainbow decks, it's common to see Eternity floating around. If you wanted to re-play the Nymph, that's 18 quantum you've already spent on it.

I feel like I would only use it if the cost was 1 quantum to use its effect, and even then I would be leery to play it.

Yeah, I can kind of see what you're saying there, but I've always felt like Earth's control shines with Earthquake/Quicksand. Control their source of quantum, and you control them. Why stop their creatures in play when you can prevent them from bringing them out in the first place?

This is just what I was looking for because the Oracle just gave me an Auburn Nymph. In my opinion, it seems to have very limited use. I'll break it down to how I see it:

Pros:
  • "Unique" effect for a creature. Decent for stopping those strong creatures.
Cons:
  • Very costly. Think about it. Overall, Auburn Nymph's cost just to use its ability is 13 Earth quantum in all (9 to summon, 4 for the effect). Basilisk Blood does the same for a lesser cost, AND its effect can be used immediately, instead of waiting one turn.
  • Low health. MANY things threaten it. Fire Storm, Fire Lance, Oty, Eagle's Eye, etc. Basically, if it gets damaged, it's going to die.
  • ZERO strength. It can't attack unless you buff it.
  • Petrify in general. I don't like the idea of buffing up an opponent's creature, even if it stops attacking for 6 turns. I'd rather remove it from the board. Rewind or killing it seems to be far more effective IMO.
Unless the cost to use its ability gets patched down to two or three Earth quantums, I don't really see me using it. If I wanted to stop something from attacking, I would switch to Water and use Arctic Octopus, Congeal, and Permafrost Shield.

EDIT: I see now that the upgraded version of Auburn Nymph, Earth Nymph, has stats of 0/5. That disposes of one of the disadvantages, but still not enough to warrant use.

Rainbow Decks / Re: PuppyChow's FG Rainbow
« on: February 24, 2010, 06:24:27 pm »
Right now I'm using the exact deck, but 3 SoGs and one miracle.  And I find myself needing more quantum with only 2-3 towers out most of the time.  Maybe it's just bad draws but I just lost to several of the gods you deemed 5/10 and below...simply because I could not get the quantum to eat or use cards.
That's the same stuff I was running into. I was beating the harder gods, but the easier ones rushed me while I waited on two things: my two towers to build up quantum, or draw at least one of those Supernovas.

I can definitely say that without those SoGs, you aren't going to hit anywhere near that 60% win mark. Things like poison and heavy rush just eat away your HP too fast.

Rainbow Decks / Re: PuppyChow's FG Rainbow

I think I might just have the WORST luck with this deck. I do seem to beat the harder FG's with it (just beat Seism twice in a row), but I lose to the easier ones now (Miracle and Ferox dominated me twice this morning).   :o

For me, it seems to rely heavily on a good opening hand. One Supernova and a Quantum Tower just isn't enough in the beginning. I mean, how do you survive when you get either a handful of Towers and Novas at the start, or none of them at the start? This is why I like Sundials in my decks. A free one-turn stall and an extra card draw, both of which seem to counter the "bad opening hand syndrome."

I also agree with SG. There should be a version without the 4 shards. I only have one SoG right now, and I'm starting to think this deck NEEDS those just to compete.

Here's my version of it right now.

The Improved Miracle has led me to some comebacks, and I think it has to stay if 4 SoG's aren't present. Of course, Feral Bonds also has to be in if SoG's aren't in. I added a Phase Shield this morning too, mainly because I was tired of getting rushed. It has had some decent results thus far. EA is in there to protect pillars or Eternity... which I don't see how you survive against Explosions/Steal/Quicksand.

Again, maybe I just have awful luck. I'm certainly not knocking the deck, but I just wanted to post the issues I've been having with it.

P.S. How do you guys post the enlarged image without it being all blurry (like in the first post)? I tried to make it larger so people wouldn't have to click it to see it, but the quality just dies...
