Napalm ~ 3

Very good games valuka! Lot's of fun! Best of luck to you in the future and I look forward to rematching with you someday!

I like decks like this, a lot. I never find a good time to use them though, so this opportunity was awesome! Basically OE + UG + Shockwave held Phoenixes at bay while Wings kept Fahren from becoming a problem. I have to say though, I was ridiculously short on quanta. I may need to rebalance this deck for future rounds, lol.

Because I didn't want to just use the same deck every round, I switched to this one. I don't like it much at all, but it's good at what it does, as shown in War 3. This is just another variation, probably my favorite, of Aether's stockpile of Death Duo's. Not having any PC made this deck a hard match for valuka.

Lots of popular cards have been targeted so far.  Here's the current state of the grid after 9 matches:

(missing ddevans/nilsie, jocko/DevilLoss, The_Morm/seraph)

The picks of mrpaper were invalid :
A3   B11   C2   D9   E1   F4   G5   H1   I6   J7   K10   L8

Dimensional Shield (E1) and Reverse Time (H1) are in the same column. However, considering it's the first round, and that the game with th shield has been lost, I'll give the win to mrpaper.

This is an exception, only for the first round.

I'd like to point out that if you double-checked your picks to ensure that they're valid, you can fight right after sending me your PM, without waiting for my validation (as I'm not always online).

Aside from that... nice and colorful table, SteppingStone ^^

Question about illegal pick set rulings going forward: are invalid picks considered deck-by-deck?

reverse time (H1) and dim shield (E1) could not both be chosen this round.  mrpaper's deck which used both dim shield and reverse time was ruled illegal, but shouldn't all decks which use either reverse time or dim shield be ruled illegal here?  Otherwise, a player could pick two cards from the same column (or row) and use whichever happened to work best.

In this example, mrpaper used RT and dim shield round 1.  Not really fair to opponent if the round 2 thru 5 decks which drop dim shield but still employ RT are allowed.  (Not saying mrpaper did anything on purpose, just suggesting that any deck which employs any illegally picked card should be ruled illegal).

TBH, I agree with Stepping here.  Any deck that used those two cards IMO should be declared illegal and mrpaper forfeit.

No matter what the decks are, the picks must be valid. If mrpaper didn't use Dim Shield or RT in his decks, the picks would have been illegal anyway.

The only restriction on the decks is "aside from Pillars and Pendulums, decks must contain cards from the picks only". The slot pick validity takes precedence over the deck.

I didn't see that both Dim Shield and RT were used in the same deck, and I cancel the exception. mrpaper loses by forfeit.

Anyway, if a match is played with wrong picks, no matter the result nor the decks, the match is null.

Sorry for the inconvenience...

Oh well there goes my option of being nice and rushing a deck I suppose... I was back from a comp crash when I hurryed to get  cards done for the event,  I wanted to stick with the good old rt, shrieker, eternity deck... but since I needed 12 cards, I pick whatever cards and made a funny deck out of it to start the game asap.  Lost with it and then went to play the real deck for game 2-5.  My opp even told me I didn't need to wait for the deck confirmation to play and since he asked me to start like 10 times in 10 minutes... I went along!  And it's not like most ppl didnt pick a few random cards at the end.  I doubt there is much great decks to do using all 12 cards mine was unfortunately not a one to pick... I guess I should have pick A1, B2 C3 and so long but I figured it wasn't much in the spirit of the event.  But the call is your's Gyrodiot

kirchj33 - 3
TheForbiddenOracle - 1

Game 1 - WIN
Code: [Select]
4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vf 4vf 4vf 4vf 4vf 4vf 4vl 4vl 4vl 4vl 50u 50u 50u 50u 55v 55v 55v 55v 55v 55v
Figured I was about as close to counterdecked as possible, but bholes kept his grabbies from showing up and he got a slow start.  I had a great quanta draw that helped me play several dragons.

Edit: I thought I was hard countered at first, but the dependancy on the quanta buildup to grabbies meant he either had to expose quanta for me to bhole/heal from or keep it hidden enough to delay his rush.

Game 2 - LOSS
Code: [Select]
4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vf 4vf 4vf 4vf 4vf 4vf 4vp 4vp 4vp 4vp 50u 50u 50u 50u 55v 55v 55v 55v 55v 55v
Tried this and it seemed ok but got outrushed even with a pandy TUing my own dragon.  Hax shield kept most of my late game damage at bay.  Considered adding more pandies, but chalked it up to bad luck.

Games 3 & 4 - WIN
Code: [Select]
4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vf 4vf 4vf 4vf 4vf 4vl 4vp 4vp 4vp 4vp 50u 50u 50u 50u 55v 55v 55v 55v 55v 55v
I took a well-calculated risk that he wouldn't be able to run anything else with his cards he selected, so I tried to fine-tune my deck on the fly.  I added back in a discord because the damage/quanta ratio is better than dragons.  I ultimately decided to stay all dragons for damage over chargers because I figured they would work better with pandies.  Fog shield was probably my biggest enemy in his deck now.  Luckily, I never saw it again.

I drew an opening hand discord both matches and pandy PU's helped me get early damage going.

Game 3 1st pandy rewound an evolved grabby and a phoenix.  This was enough stall for the win.

Game 4 I drew amythest pillar, 2 pendies, pandy, discord, bhole, dragon so... pretty much a perfect draw.  Enabled turn 2 discord, thus preventing early grabbies.  Turn 3 bhole & pandy.  I copied his already played phoenix and photon.  Next pandy gpulled his phoenix.  This gave me enough stall for an easy victory, even if a dragon didn't show up until turn 7.

gg's TFO, was a very interesting matchup!

I am sure that I have the most entertaining round 1 cards/targets:

PICKS:
A6 – Black Hole
B7 – Discord
E4 – Sapphire Charger
I2 – Antimatter
G10 – Purple Dragon
K12 – Pandemonium
D8 – Hematite Golem
F1 – Momentum
C11 – Holy Light
H3 – Plate Armor
J9 – Flooding
L5 - Chrysoaroa

TARGETS:
C11 – Holy Light
H3 – Plate Armor
J9 – Flooding
