ddevans96 3-2 RootRanger
This goes right up there with Trials and round 1 of CotO as one of my most enjoyable matches ever. I'm pleased with my deck choice but it was really luck that won today.
I made these picks to face someone who's potential I knew nothing of. Not one of the recognized PvPers in the forum.
A12 - Forest Spirit
B6 - Spark
C2 - Rage Potion
D5 - Phoenix
E8 - Fog Shield
F9 - Minor Vampire
G4 - Immolation
H10 - Reverse Time
I11 - Gargoyle
J1 - Deflagration
K7 - Cloak
L3 - Devonian Dragon
I made an error in these picks by picking one more target than allowed, which I later corrected in a follow-up PM, removing my target from Cloak.

I saw light and fire and knew I was in for a tough ride. I deflaged his first sanc and dropped two phoenixes. He promptly ashed one, and killed the other. I revived my phoenix but it too was killed. After a while I destroyed another sanc on sight, and had two phoenixes and a 5|5 spirit, which he killed. I held on to my damage and won.

Having put too many pends in here, I was flooded with fire quanta quickly. He got creatures early but I pulled out two potions. He put out more damage. Eventually I got out a devonian, but it was promptly rewinded. Even more creatures came and I never saw a RT. I got a devonian out again near the end, but he crushed me with damage.

It looked like I would be short on quanta but I wasn't. He got a ghost quickly, but I raged it. He dropped a grabbie (which I would rage later), and I played some damage under a cloak. When it fell, he rewinded my phoenixes, but I got them out again. The rest of my rages held his damage down and I won with the safety of a second cloak.

I had four sparks in 9 cards and no immo. With no protection and less control, my phoenixes faltered to RT while his ghosts and grabbies pounded me down. When my hand got full I was forced to drop a spark, as I never drew an immo the whole game. I don't believe I ever drew a rage either.

I had a near-god quanta hand and pulled out a phoenix to counter a grabbie. He unburrowed and I topdecked a rage. He got more damage which I held up with rage until my first cloak fell. Then I got some vampires for minor healing, and it was a damage race to the end. I thought I had lost, but I guess I miscounted and had one or so HP left to beat him.
