:aether FFQ - Fair enough, as I haven't studied all their card usage from previous wars.

If you click on "past war intel," and then the aether spoiler, you'll see what they've used against us in the past three wars....  hopefully that can be of some use.

Hm. Hadn't seen that thread before - just all the intel threads with the empty spoilers. Thanks.

 :aether
Novapult.  It will halt those Psions in their tracks, and we can just hurl those titans over their shields if they bother to pack them.  Be wary of Devtal, though.

 :light

Accelerating Steel Golems.  The EQ and PC should guard against Light's stalling possibility, but also pack a punch against any general deck they may throw at us.

 :entropy
My 'Slo-Mo' Immolation deck.  This one we likely could sup up with the Lieutenant's extra upgrade to get half of the Firemasters it was originally designed with.  We want to guard against Discord, but also have a good output, and Immolation is the key.

 :death
I want to say FFQ.  Just because it would overpower those Bonewalls, and I highly doubt the use of Plague or Mass CC, making this a perfect opportunity to surprise a people.  With FFQ's nice HP, it would also be formidable against Bonebolt.

 :fire
Sending my Phirebolt, as I have come to call it, would definitely be a bold (and funny) move, just like it was two Wars ago.  No doubt this is the ideal option.

 :earth
This one is really a toss up.  I am expecting EQ involved, so Novagrabby seems optimal.

:aether I think novapult would work very well against psions, and it would also give the Captain a deck that better benefits from his upgrades
:light Likely good reasoning, and light is usually pretty slow, anyway
:entropy Never thought about the immolation vs discord thing, that could make sense.
:death Valid points, but we'd bend over to a simple monodeath rush.  Depends what you think they'll use against us.
:fire The bone wall/mummy/guard/gpull thing might do well here, also.  Immorush hates bone walls :p  Unfortunately, that death/gravity deck loses to stalls.
:earth The earthquake is one of the reasons I wanted to use the FFQ deck.  Adding my two mark of gravity to the mix gives a quanta split of 2 marks of gravity/4 gravity pillars/3 wind pillars/5 air pendulums, and it gets even more ridiculous if we use unupped black holes and up quanta instead.  (unupped BH and up one each of gravity/wind pillar and air pend, and it's a 7 way quanta split, lol)  And if they send novabow against me, black hole will help slow that down, hopefully enough

Hope you felt good about your mid-term Rutarete!

:aether - Just double checked and it's sky who is going against Aether, not captain, so we'll only have 6 upgrades unless we make that the lieutenant deck. Nova-pult seems like a good idea.

 :light Acceler-golems sounds good.

 :entropy Slo-mo-immo seems good.

:death They lost every match up vs. gravity last war (including some mono-death rushes), so I'd imagine they go unconventional here which makes it hard to predict. No clue, but FFQ or Cata-titans seem plausible.

:fire I like the phirebolt idea, but I think it's only a good choice for fire if they are coming with a stall. Fire has many rush possibilities, and this deck is slower than all of them. In testing it's been losing to everything rush....  mono-fire, Fractix, immo-rushes.  Phirebolt actually does beat firestall and a few other stalls with CC that fire has; is that what you are predicting?  Dragon seemed to think not, but who knows in round 1.

:earth They might send a nova bow vs. gravity, but Earth is also fighting darkness this round, and that would make more sense to me if they sick the nova-grabbies on darkness (but maybe they have two nova-grabby decks?).

FractalChargers are definitely a good response to a rush or stall from :light , but I'm afraid that 3 upgrades won't be sufficient to field a proper deck.

:light may actually be wary of our Gravity Shields, so might field a rush instead of a midrange or stall.

Not relevant because we have no fractals in the vault.

I definitely like the possibility of Round 1 shenanigans because I'm sure any of the teams will be anticipating a Fractal Charger. Or any iteration of it.

Heh, I was expecting my choices to cause some stir, but I trust that playing it smart by generalizing strengths of the decks and pinning those against the proper element matches is the best way to go.  Basically I am exercising the theory that war's limitations allow you the ability to build against various situations in a match up, while not feeling like the deck is over stuffed or each part of the deck's functions is watered down to supplement multi-purpose.  It also helps to approach this from a different angle, because if we can be unexpected  it will give us an advantage.
Rule #1: The Captain is never wrong.  Rule #2: If the Captain is wrong, refer to Rule #1.
