My original impression was that the Guard might be a bit OP as well, but upon further testing it actually seems fine.

I love the buff, but maybe the upped could have its cost the same as the unupped, you know, to keep from the power creep that Shantu speaks of.

Virtually nobody would use it then. It would just be a Cockatrice with 3 more HP costing 1500 more .

Honestly, I liked the original 3|5 for 1 idea a lot better than this. As long as there isn't a crazy fast rush with it the way there was with SoR+Deja Vu very briefly, there's no reason to change it again. :/

A Cockatrice with 3 more hp in an element that has Overdrive as a core buff.
I think this card is unevenly balanced between upped & unupped the same way Sapphire/Elite Chargers are (Sapphire Charger=UP, Elite Charger=OP).

I think this very good buff, now is useful to mitosis, adrenaline, luciferin... but graviton guard is OP now

Regarding powercreep :
Powercreep has happened in ETG. (See OldTrees's post for specifics.) It mostly happened to creatures that needed a buff anyway, so maybe it's more a mass buff to some of the less viable cards, IMHO.

Frog is still the best cost / atk creature and I didn't think of the phoenix comparison mentioned earlier in this thread, but now that I do this card seems rather well-rounded. I think Mercenary's going to be much more welcome to the Gravity arsenal of 1.32 and will be at least a better filler card for users in War.

We play with the good cards. This creates the metagame. Zanz tries to add cards balanced around the metagame. There is variance in the balance of the cards that Zanz adds (some better, some worse than the current metagame). The old good becomes the new average. Zanz buff the old UP cards. This results in a general slowly rising tide.

I love EtG because it never power-...eruption? don't know the exact word :p
The cards never goes infinitely powerful. This makes a highly balanced metagame.
