Because, it can

a. destroy any permanent many times
b. act as a shield
c. can have crazy attack thanks to overdrive
d. can be thrown at your opponent to deal massive amounts of damage
e. perfect material for chimeras

Mmmm. Not really.
a. Sure, it can destroy permanents, but it requires 4 quanta, and a one turn delay, and then one permanent a turn. Quite powerful, but not really OP.
b. Act as a shield. Yes, this is what makes it powerful, but not OP. I've made a deck (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,37057.0.html) based on the concept of using them as shields, and while it's powerful, not OP. It's not hard to outdamage a growing SoF
c. Using a SoF and overdrive involves 8 quanta, and takes 5 or so turns for it to actually outdamage other standard gravy attackers
d. Throwing a SoF requires at least 8 quanta for 13,23, or 32 damage. Because I have never tried using catapults with SoF, I don't think I can accurately comment on the effectiveness of that.
e. Again, have not tested chimeras with SoF, so I wouldn't know, but the idea sounds expensive, and for what?

You also forgot to mention that while hates reverse time, it is an absolute hard counter to any SoF strategies.

hello all, well, i personally agreed that shard of Focus is really useful and powerful
afterall, i did tried this deck out and it seems like it works even in arena

i decided to put just two instead of five, i prefer rushing but shard of focus seems life-saving...the black hole. not to mention that it destroys towers, weapons, slowing ur opponents progress. nice shard.
i took out 1 animate weapon and 1 pendulum, as i dun think i need them so much. i will not say it's a perfect deck but definitely i enjoy playing it. To justify why i didn't upgrade the acceleration....well u c, i need it to be 3 mana instead of 4, faster

I have to agree with Darkstealth and yes, Shard of Focus is overpowered and it needs a little nerfing. However, I am glad to see there is a rare card able to support a Chimera deck, since Chimeras are seriously underused...
