Well, I already do this. It helps that I don't have the cards to make most of the typical decks.

By my own rights, I do not take down a deck that is in the top 500, and my current deck is not interesting or novel in any way. Thus I do not take this pledge as of yet. Maybe in a couple of days :)

I, a gold league member, pledge, that on day 17 of month 10 of year 2011,  to break any generalization or rule thrown at me. This includes mainly using new decks, but also sometimes "classic" decks once in a while, and even letting a deck stay dead. Removing any deck entirely from the league increases the league's predictability and thus decreases fun, in my idea of the meaning of the word.
And even if I do make a firestall or dexterity speedbow or "old stinky boring" deck, it may be either a completely different version or the cookie cutter version.

May all who disagree with me rage in peace. :)

I'll promise to try and do it about half the time, though in platinum, not gold.  I like creative decks as well, but once in awhile I have to give in and put a boring but competitive deck on the top 25 leaderboard :)  I've got a life mark up in platinum now, so hopefully that alone qualifies this week!  If you look at the decks in my signature, you can see that some of them are the creative things you're trying to encourage, though some are also exactly the sort of thing this pledge is trying to stamp out.

If fat man oracle behaves a little better, I'll try to put some fun ones up :)  I've been getting a lot of stupid cards lately, so I take what I can get.

as long as you make the decks creative, and don't just netdeck, I'm fine.

I'm actually having fun with this so far :)  I built a deck using a card I've had in the past, Purple Nymph, and it's 17-3 so far, which is much better than the last time I tried it.  I also skipped Phase Spider, even though that could've made a good (but boring!) deck.

I don't want to make a formal pledge, since I don't know if I can keep my word on that promise.  Except for once, all of the decks I've submitted have been ones I built myself, rather than just copied from the forums, so they are all generally built by me, but some of them have been fairly uncreative.

One good thing about this is that it might motivate me to start using some of the cards I normally skip.  If I spend some serious effort designing a deck, can I make something arena-competitive with a card like rustler or flooding? :)  (well, other than immorush with 5x rustlers :p)

I'll take the part of the pledge that says I'll never outright CP a deck and at least try to be novel, since being standard is never any fun. I adoringly customize every deck I utilize like my current deck, which feels sort of like a  :water version of Dream Catcher.

Anyway my reason for this post is that Dragon's last post just gave me a sinister idea on how to actually use Flooding as an oracle card for what might be a really competitive deck.

Same, I'm building awsome (creative and mine) decks with all the cards I hated.
And it works great!
Just skipped phoenix, only boring decks with that.

I just got phoenix, too :p  My purple nymph deck is 45-4 and on day 5 now.  Just to let you know I'm skipping PHOENIX for you people, lol.  I've already built a monofire deck or two in the arena when getting phoenix anyway, so I have no problem skipping it.  I suppose I could've gone with something different than monofire, like supernova speedbow with minor phoenixes, but that's not particularly imaginative either.  Purple nymphs swinging discords is funnier! :)
