I thought the LOTRO servers went down? I've not met a single person who still played that in years. The game was fun, but the development team was just horrible. Lack of REAL end game content harmed the game bigtime though. Shame, could have been the Tyrant that WoW became had they had a better development team working on it.
I like how in this thread people are literally trying to get people to stop playing the real Elements game and use something similar to a private server. If this kind of thing were happening in any other game the admins would ban all parties involved.
Did you just blurt that out without thinking? LOTRO has more US and Europe-based subscribers than any fantasy-based MMO other than WoW. It has been around since 2007. And lack of end-game content? It has raids, it has a legendary weapon/item system, and has more content at end-game than many other MMOs I've played. It has a Mirkwood expansion going live on December 1st that adds even more end-game content and a skirmish system that lets you fill out large parties of players with customized NPCs.
No MMO is going to be the next WoW. There is far too much competition right now in the MMO arena for any single MMO to dominate like WoW did back in 2003 to 2006.
Next time you want to try to start a flame war or troll, go somewhere else.
Sorry Scaredgirl. Didn't mean to offend you. Didn't realize you were a HARDCORE fanboy and would completely ignore facts in order to defend you favored game. You see, I just looked into it. LOTRO had no more than 280,000 subscribers at their peak, which does roughly translate to an equal amount of players. That'd put it below 5th place as far as players goes, but that's including f2p games too. Just because there ARE raids does not mean there is enough content, or "real end-game". A good MMO will keep you busy indefinitely. Being almost "unbeatable". While I agree, yes the game was pretty (albeit buggy at launch, my friend and I were lucky enough to get in on the beta, too) and had a neat set-up EARLY TO MID game, the end game is down-right bad. It could have been the WoW-Killer, but due to development that wasn't really quite ready for this type of game.. It did fail as a game. Looks like I was right, the servers WERE going to go down due to lack of subscribers, however they revoked that idea because "A lack of players doesn't change the fact that we do still have some players". I totally just f'd that quote up, trying to eat chips and salsa.
ANyway, LOTRO has less than 280,000 now that their peak is over and it's estimated (although there is no official) that they're losing more than 1,000 subscribers a month as WoW:Cataclysm gets closer. Who knows, maybe LOTRO2 will come out when LOTRO dies. I hope so, it could have been a really good game.

It probably would happen, but the mods and admins here are hardly, if at all, connected to elements the game and zanz. We have a whole forum section devoted to this unauthorized trainer. Originally, the creator of the trainer was extremely careful not to change any of the game elements, only creating the trainer to allow access to the full card set. Now, however, he has redesigned major parts of the game, creating, in essence, a level seven quest line larger than any questline present in zanz' game.
I haven't seen zanz approve of this unofficial mod.
I have not either, that's why I don't participate. A friend who also plays this game was telling me about how Zanz flipped out at the people who made the cheated trainer for this game, and not just because of the cheats, but because it was his code. Did Zanz really give any permission for ANY OF THIS?
