How do you get Shards? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=42254.msg525725#msg525725
« on: July 26, 2012, 06:51:31 am »
I've been playing for a while and have managed to win a variety of weapons and earned enough coins to upgrade a few cards.   So now I was going to sell some of those winnings and build one of those famous "false god farmer" decks...
except they all require shards.

I assume you get them from getting lucky and actually winning a card from said false gods... but without the shards to build the decks to beat them more than once a day this could take YEARS.  Especially considering the chances of winning a card from spins is like 1 in 20 or so.

So, since this is the "deck help" forum...  How exactly do I go about actually acquiring the cards to BUILD the Instosis deck or the RoL/Hope or any of the decks that actually work?  The Liquid Antimatter deck completely FAILS me as there's never enough purple quanta to actually cast Antimatter before being killed.

I spent a few days on Bronze league hoping somebody would include them in their deck, since  playing higher levels is impossible without these shard decks... but all I'm ever lucky enough to get is the cheap cards that sell for 19 coins, or yet another Blessing.  (i've sold like 20 already!)

Searching this forum only yields results talking about T50, whatever that was... and since there's no button to post a question in the newbie section I came here.

Only 2 FGs have shards, and those are both shards of focus. If you want shards, your best bet are the special rare spins in the arena.

you mean after you win 5 games in a row?
ARE YOU SERIOUS?
The few times I've been lucky enough to actually GET something from there it's been a weapon.  Lobotomizer, Arsenic, that sort of thing...

but that's like a 1 in 10 chance to even get something, which equals 50 perfect games straight just to get 1 card that probably will not be a shard anyway...

Is there no other source of shards?!

Donate-costs money
Win them from games-if you can find them
Ask for a farm-looked down upon by community
Keep grinding the arena with a better deck-takes lots of time.

They're called rare cards for a reason.

Ok, nowhere does it say you can buy shards by making a "donation" -- it goes straight to paypal sign-in.
I obviously don't know how to win them from games, dunno what a "farm-looked down" is...

Looks like it's 2000 to 3000 arena games and hope I get lucky. (now i see why so many people complain and just quit!)
Thanks much for the info!

Rares can be won from spins, including in pvp. Farm decks are decks that have 6 of one or two kind of rares, with no way to play anything. Very bad imo :v

Also, chance to win from arena special spin has been estimated to  be up to 60-70%, iirc. Method used is : spin till you have a pair, one at a time, then spin the last one to get the rare.

I've just got at least 6 of every rare and near enough a thousand cards in just over 5000 games played.  Try using a rush deck as it cuts down the time playing and if you can grind silver rather than bronze as you'll get more coins, which you can use to upgrade.

Some money is good enough to make a partially-upped silver grinder, which nets you electrum while only requiring 4 wins in a row to get a rare spin.
PVE shouldn't be all about copying a deck code and converting time into electrum, score, and potentially rares.
If the only way to derive fun from a game is its PVP content, then non-hardcore players a.k.a. the mass are alienated from the hardcore community.
