Backup cards https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=23561.msg300369#msg300369

I was reading the Top 50 board today and someone mentioned in one of the threads that they had 12 of all of the rare weapons. I'm wondering if there is a reason to have 12 of a non pillar card since you can only play 6 at once, and what the reason is.

Thanks! (and sorry for my very basic question and if I posted in the wrong place)

You want to have 12 of any non-pillar card so you can upgrade 6 for later use in upgraded decks.

So basically you want 6 unupgraded versions and 6 upgraded versions.

To further clarify, you want 6 copies of the unupgraded rares because PvP Duel does not downgrade cards, and a large number of the PvP Events hosted by the community are limited to unupgraded cards. For this same reason, many people are advised against upgrading Nymphs, because upgraded Nymphs cannot be used in most PvP Events.

So upgraded cards for farming, unupgraded cards for events, generally speaking?

Thanks for the clarification. I appreciate it!

Well, many events do allow a limited number of upgraded cards to be used... Trials, for example, allowed I think ten upgrades during the battle phase, and the final battle's upgrades depended on how well you did overall.  War allows generals to use 6 upgraded cards and lieutenants to use 3.  So an upgraded nymph might not be totally worthless... still, nymphs' upgrades aren't usually very impressive compared to other cards.
