Let me preface this by saying that I hate Ghostmare.  I think it's a boring, unimaginative deck, and I always groan when I see that the Arena deck I'm fighting has both :time and :darkness.

So, anyway, I just did exactly that and, to cap it all, I got a bad draw on a Swallow deck and knew that I wouldn't be able to play any useful cards for 2-3 turns.  Luckily for me, though, the AI also got a bad draw and drew no :time Towers at all.   So it goes on for a couple of turns with neither of us doing anything (and, for the record, in the entire match, he only drew 1 Tower) until I had enough quanta to get out an Otyugh, a Shard of Focus and even, due to a couple of turns of doing nothing, a Gravity Nymph.  At this stage I knew that I'd won as there was nothing he could throw at me which I couldn't counter.  But I didn't get a Shard of Patience for ages, so couldn't actually attack.

Then I noticed that the AI's health kept dropping and dropping every time he took a turn.  It took me a couple of goes to realise - he was having to discard Ghosts of the Past, and was taking 13 off his health every time he did so.  I did eventually get a Shard of Patience, but by the time that happened I only had to take about 80HP off him, he'd already taken the majority of his health away for me.

So, given my dislike for the hand, it amused me greatly to see it dying mostly because of its own attack.

Has anyone else had a match that they've won because luck and circumstances turned the other hand's strength into a weakness?

I've had quite a few, but my all time favourite was when I was first starting out.  I had a modification of scaredgirl's old rainbow deck, and I was against Akebono.  I was losing quite badly.  I had a fallen elf out against a huge army of creatures.  I topdeck a sundial the turn I am about to lose, so I play it as a last ditch effort.  Akebono topdecks a Chimera and plays it, creating a creature that had over 100 attack and could kill me in one hit, but sundial blocked it.  On my turn, I use the fallen elf to mutate the Chimera... and it dies.  After that, I managed a comeback and won the game :p

I've had a couple. One was when i was facing a false god entirely by accident, and it decided to cast two supernovas to almost kill me in a single round by flooding the field with creatures (I feel like this was post the "always spam SN" bug, but I'm not sure). I would have lost...except I drew a fractal and fract'ed my vampires. Before long I was gaining so much life I could not be stopped. The other was my first ever platinum match, also an accident. I had the unupped bonestorm deck for facing Eternal Phoenix, and was just lucky enough to go up against a Death-Cats deck, which I stalled long enough to beat.

It is always fun to watch as you play Mirror Shield against PisonFractal deck in Bronze/Silver and AI keeps playing more Pisons and killing himself faster ::)

Actually I sometimes even hope that :aether deck in arena has Pisons or SoW-s (my alt has Diving Pegasus deck, so it has trouble with Dim. Shields)

I faced dragonsdemesne in BL before, he nightmared his own Forest spirit (I had no life or water quanta), then he used discord. I played a stall deck, so the game was farily long, and after a few turns I could play a spirit, and eventually grow it. The forest spirit was the biggest contributor to damage for me the whole game, and I won. I would most likely have won even without it, but it certainly helped :P
