Time to go again... https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=49635.msg1076406#msg1076406

Looks like it's time to end this years round of trying to bring about change.  I'll be out until the next update, if there is one....

However, I would like to make my final argument towards pitching a big change to this game to zanz and getting community support:

EtG visits average trend -5.39% over the last 3 Months
A max of 17K unique users as of 14 months ago and is currently at 10K unique users
Site is a Go Daddy Registered
Also owner of Zanzarino Design
Contact Information: zanzarino@libero.it

Page Rank By Nation:
Romania 6,608
Greece 9,493
Austria 23,362
Italy 37,315
United Kingdom 59,184
Germany 102,707
United States 175,417

So, yes Elements is dying dropping 33% over the past year...
The number of people registered and active in this forum is but a small drop of actual users.
Most people are abandoning this game...  I honestly thought it's best savior would be the community.

Zanzarino, as you can tell is a flash webdesigner and a graphics artist, elements isn't even featured as part of his portfolio anymore.  The technology is getting outdated being replaced with Mobile SDKs, and HTML5/Javascript.  Something like a crowd sourced project pulling in kick starter money during a time when Italy is having such large problems I would be be a blessing to him... and this community.  However, sadly, I think the community has already become too 'stuck'.

It looks like the status on several review sites got changed to final.  However, think about it will you, please.    I'll scan for any PMs over the next few weeks to see if anyone would even join me in a pitch to Zanzarino.

I agree and am with you! I think the game could be reawakened and it could start making Zanz money fairly quickly if we took the right steps. I already emailed the Elements the game email, with no response after a couple months. Let's talk and see what we can do. I'm a professional investor and would be interested in investing in Elements with the right business plan.

I agree partially, I just think that the devs should "care" more about the game |:

There is only one developer for EtG and that's Zanzarino. What keeps wants to change is exactly that.

vrt,
It's a strong possibility...  I'm going to create a separate thread soon and see whom is interested in contributing, what skills they have, how much time they can contribute, and for how much.

Example,
'EtG Player', Likes making music in fruity loops, a couple hours a week, a labor of love.
'EtG Player 2', Serious programmer, 40 hours a week, 70,000K a year?
'EtG Player 3', Art, Viedos, Requirement Mockups, on the weekends, can you pay for my supplies?
'EtG Player 4', extra free cash, 1 time payment, because I love EtG.
'EtG Player 5', willing to beta test, an hour a day, i get to play the latest first so that's a labor of love.
'EtG Player 6', legal knowledge, once and a while, i'll do the work pro bono

However, which will be needed and by whom would be based on what is agreed upon by zanzarino.  We might not need any of it or all of it, but it gives a bases on what the community resources are.  We might end up be able to generate jobs or it might just be, all a labor of love.

I'm going into this with the plan that we might get a few thousand to cover expenses and the rest is because we love EtG and want to make it survive and grow.  It's why I came to the community first.  If I had the money a full work week free in time, I would have launched a competing game out of the gate.  I don't.  It's why I thought of the community, strong communities like this one often have people who are skilled, pull the resources and the community can do amazing things.

Have you even talked to Zanz to see if he is the least interested? I feel like you should try to do that before seeing who many who wants to contribute, since Zanz is the one that decides, not you.

^ That, You're trying to take someone else's work and make it yours. That doesn't work.

With all the effort you want to put in, you might as well make your own game.

Elbrirn, starting from something is often easier and less expensive than starting from nothing.

Fippe94, how I go about approaching zanz and what I ask for either on behalf of other members or independently very much matters on whom in the community is willing to contribute and in which ways.  I would like this open whatever the outcome is to the community first.  If there are just new cards to come out, I want the communities work to drive it.  If there becomes an investment opportunity, I want the community to have a chance at it first.  If there are jobs that come out of it, I wanted people from the community to have the first stab at working at one.

Why?

Because I believe, what the community has built is greater than the game itself.  I want to see the fruits of everyone's labor ripen.  I want at minimum what someone gets out of their time and effort is a better game.  Isn't that part of why we submit card ideas, build guilds, have wars, build massive pages of documentation, have mentoring programs, etc.  We want a game that lasts and that is what this is about.

Besides...

There is no harm in scouting out talent.  Let's say Zanz says, 'Keeps, Hell No, I don't care what the talent is in the community, I don't care how much money you raise.  I like elements as it is, it's my thing, and any deal is off the table.'  Well, then at least I now know some talented individuals that would like to contribute to an elements like game.  And then maybe do what Elbirn suggests.

Elbrirn

People have been butchering my name for years, but I haven't seen this variation yet :P

Anyway, yeah. Honestly Zanz is gonna go "lololol no". And he has every right to do so. But if you want to make a community made fantasy style card game in the style of elements (read: rips off of), I'm sure there'd be plenty of interested people.

I have seen first hand what happens when a game collapses.

Edmus on kong: edmus is a 'jump over obstacles' MMO where the goal is to run further than all other people. The easy badge has gotten over 150000 people claiming it yet only a couple hundred others currently play it. The game has had no dev activity for over a year now and many people are still trying to keep it alive (me and a couple others). It is sad to see a once flourishing game turn to ash in a matter of years and I am afraid that elements might become one of them. It makes me happy to see a number of people fighting for what is right though if this game is headed for downfall, there is nothing anyone can do about it. This is proven on the dev's profile where people ask him to make more updates for the game but since there hasnt been one in over a year... The dev however is still active and does still comment on others asking questions about other games by him like what is the music called etc. The game also got into a 2013 gaming thing (can't recall the name) which gave it a bit of advertisement but even when the dev heard of this, he didn't make an update.

Even if this is bound to happen, I am convinced that this community will eventually pursuade Zanz to keep the game alive and at least 'delay' the time in which this game will burn in a horrible death.

Feel free to email this to Zanz but as I have already wasted my effort trying to save edmus, I cannot help any further.

With my sincere apologies-
Dawn To Dusk
