"Because something that doesn't strain the eyes is too mainstream" Calindu

Introduction
I have been master of earth  :earth :earth :earth times. The first time was 2013. I've played for earth in 4 wars and 3.5 as general. I've spent hours and hours testing, tweaking and perfecting decks. I always kept my results a secret since I was afraid other people would use my results against me. But now when I'm not aiming to be as competitive anymore I can just as well reveal my secrets. This is what I've learnt.

How to read the guide
Most decks are based around war and are thus 50% in element and semi upgraded. See this compilation for what it is. Statics and studies gathered with comments and not a guide in the same way as the immo thread. Some parts of my testing have disappeared so take it for what it is. In the end you must still always tweak your deck given the current meta and your opponent. And yes most decks posted can be done a lot better, it's about ideas not perfection. I always perfect the decks when I know my opponent, sooner than that is less necessary.

Introduction to Earth
Earth is the most versatile element in Elements. Earth can make good stalls, rushes, pc control, cc control, bows, immo rushes, stallbreakers and more. Earths weakness is perhaps it's edge. Earth can do a lot but is not best in their particular field, except for novabows.

Earth's top 20 deck list.
This is something I made in trials 10#. All decks are based on 12 uppeds. This is a good overview you can start with at any given time.

• Bow variations
• Water earth with trident
• Water earth rush
• Fire earth duo
• Mono earth
• Earth gravity
• Death earth duo
• Darkness earth rush
• Rt boid
• Fractal earth + dims
• Poison deck
• Disquake
• Devquake
• Sop decks
• Earth light stall
• Earth fire stall
• Earth aether stall
• Earth sosac stall
• Entropy earth stall
• Earth rol hope
• Earth wings
• Earth dims

So lets put these decks into categories and get down to the details

Duo Rush decks
The earth duo rush with the lowest ttw is immo rush. But since Immo rushes are a bit unreliable the lowest Attw goes to death earth duo rush.

Earth is not only the most versatile element, it also has the most versatile bow. The simple reason is that earth can rely on any mark while others always need earth mark in order to run boids.

Sop decks
Sop was a neath addition to earth. Like I told Zanz right at the start, 2+2 a turn is to much 1+1 is much more reasonable, he didn't listen. And here we are with a market price of 300 in war. Terratides ( aka sopawardens ) is hard to beat since it combines both strong CC, PC with stallbreaking. It's versatility and splash of pulvy, disco and trident helps a lot. :time loves Terratides they only lost to it 4 times the same war, or was it 5?

Some general card by card thoughts

How many people have lost to Dissquake, Devquake or cupcake? In a limited meta this card can really give you an edge. Quicksand, bane of stalls.
A lot of people talk about how amazing Boids are, and they're so right. This card can be just as amazing being one of the best vanilla cards in the game. High def and damage for low quanta. Super easy to splash in any earth deck and great combo card.
I won't even get started with this one
I remember when this was a new card, thank you Zanz. I didn't like it so much in the beginning. Ghosts and sancs seemd a lot more promising. Then Sop happened and the rest is history. It's still a neath card in limited meta, easy delays and with some buff it's a killer. Combine it with something else and you have a complete lockdown. Maybe a pulvy and a gravity shield, or a trident and squids, or a disco and chaos power, or a blessing.
You know why it's on this list. Can on it's own shut down shields, weapons and quanta.
A fun little card to splash, especially in stall decks. Should be free to play.

Fun cards from other elements are:
Nova, gravity shield, Gp, disco, chaos power, bonewall, immo, sop, squids, poseidon, permafrost, light stuff, wings, Rt, Dials, devs, fractal and dims( although you always play dims with mixed feelings )

Last thoughts
In the end mastering an element is about understanding it's power and weakness in any given meta. It's about knowing the details of your different possibilities.
There are still 3 more things you need to be good at if you want to become a worthy master.
  • Mind games
What decks to choose and when. And what decks to predict and when.
  • Perfecting decks
To be able to take a deck and bring it to it's full potential in the given meta.
  • War General
Okay so you know your element well, you know how to build and make good predictions. Without knowing how to put together a strong team and lead it you will still struggle to keep your team above water in war ( reference to war 10# )
Maybe I'll touch these 3 subjects in other threads, someday, or maybe you will.

Last words
I know this thread isn't as well carried out or good as the immo thread. It's not the best possible introduction to earth. I'm not rating the decks, or cards. I don't explain in which situation to use which decks. But I do provide a good introduction to earth, and that probably broadens your view of what you thought earth was capable of.

Come on people. Any thoughts? A few years ago this would have been on page 2-3 already.

I thought we already established this a few years ago.
Just in a much shorter way. :silly:

(I know this is kind of a joke post, but I don't have anything to ask or argue with.)

Ha ha. I remember that. I can now 5 years later admit that I didn't know teams who did propaganda were rewarded 10 extra points. I just did it for fun.
We had a really cool war team that year with Afdarenty, Daniela, Oemga and Dragtom.

There were some good propagandas that year, Earth included.

Spoiler for serious question:
Actually, I do have a question. Most Earth cards are quite simple to work with in terms of Quanta Index. However, Stone Skin is one of the cards that defies QI rules. What cost do you give Stone Skin if you want to work with QI=5? Or how do you count the amount of quanta cards needed in a Stone Skin deck?

That is a good question. I never thought about an exact formula to use in the qi. I usually run earth pends in 35-40% of the deck. If you're using dials you can pretend their not in the deck for percentage purpose. I almost never run SS in mono earth. Also depends a bit on the build of course.
