In celebration of my 200th post, I present...
:fire :fire :fireTHE BAD BEAT THREAD :fire :fire :fire
(http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/7775/51745320.png)
In poker, bad beat is a subjective term for a hand in which a player with what appear to be strong cards nevertheless loses... There is no consensus among poker players as to what exactly constitutes a bad beat and often players will disagree about whether a particular hand was a bad beat.
Too many players come into chat and complain about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It's high time players had a place to vent properly!
Did your pvp opponent just beat you with 1hp remaining and 18 poison? Post here!
Did Decay take your four Aether quanta and leave your 300 Gravity quanta untouched? Post here!
Accidentally sell your nymphs, reset your account, and twist your ankle? Post here!
Did you just get crane kicked by some little bitch who barely even knows karate? Post here!

Sweep the leg. No mercy.

Subconciously tried to fight an FG with my AI3 farming deck. 4 times in a row.

I lol'd, and needed it, ty.
Earlier today, playing Gemini with my rainbow, what was normally a relatively easy god had given me all kinds of trouble. Finally, down to my last two cards, with a quint'd oty, druid, fire shield and eternity, I'd taken control of the board by mutating/rewinding his deck. Sitting comfortably at 90/100HP, all 4 of my SoGs in play, he had only a phase dragon left with 1HP. Having rewound so much of his deck, he sat with 7/8 cards, and I didn't think it very necessary to swap to a phase shield, or throw my final sundial given that I was - at this point - trying to secure a hard-earned elemental mastery. Given that his field was empty and I now needed to take him from practically full to empty, I finally mutated one of my few skeletons and ended up with a mutant azure dragon. A moment later, after playing 6 TU's on my dragon, he promptly emptied my health from full, and sent me to the menu. It sure felt like a bad beat to me, though I'm sure some personal stupidity was to blame. Either way, that sucked.

The italicized/bolded part. Ive managed to do that twice. Once against gemini and once against paradox. Its enough to make someone cry out in anger and curse the game for days even though its oneselfs fault.

Haha, yep, it's no fun. But you learned something - the AI will use TU on big fat creatures, especially if it is losing (below 50% health). You lost because you didn't swap out your shield, so you made a bad play that was moderately difficult to identify. Because of your post, however, many people can learn from this! :)
The moral of the story: When in a heavily favorable situation, it is important to evaluate your opponent's options. If you can do anything to eliminate your opponent's possible outs (a.k.a. "sealing" the win), do it.

Gemini finally ran out of shields when I was at 3 cards and he was lobotomizing my rays, and things were looking grim but beatable. With one turn left, I had him in elemental mastering range (next turn I would deal enough damage to kill him with dragons+rays minus 4, so I'd heal and then finish with electrocuter of my own) when on his turn he played a dragon, unstoppablized it, then friggin' TUed ie 6 times....
-
Lol I'm guessing Gemini can probably generate a lot of these type of posts... :P. The hard part though is even if he had been smart and played the phase shield, the mutant could have been an azure dragon with momentum and gemini could have done the same thing and won anyays. Or if the AI actually knew what it was doing he could have TU'd the dragon, momentum'd it, then tu'd the rest of the times (though I know that doesnt happen :P). For this reason against gemini I try to never mutate anything unless he has used at least 3-4 TU's and/or I have a quint in hand or a huge oty that can eat anything that would be too powerful if he tu'd it. One useful tip, is that if you play a hand with a FFQ, play it unquinted and he will often waste his TU's on it for no apparant reason, when he has no nature and cant use it :P.

???
That's like, half the reason why I no longer use a Druid in my FG deck.
-
That's the reason why I run an Aflotoxin Lock in my FG deck ;))))
On the bad beats side, a Fire Queen story. Opening hand of some lands, Oty, Bonewall and Firestorm promised a good game. Now, first turn he plays and flies eagle's eye. Ok. Second turn he plays and flies a second eye. Ok, I topdeck some stuff, and third turn he flies a third eye. I decide to install bonewall before I die and get a shard up aswell. Fourth turn... need I say that? Fourth flying eye.
And about a turn or two later he got a fifth one, not flying somewhy (cuz he's a sore looser).
I kept looking for when he gets his Gases out, as far as actually checking out FG's name again.
Bottom line is, by the moment I was dead, no FFQs yet shown up from his side. And I did drew a quint for Oty... right the letal turn.

Lol. I laughed and thought of Jaden Smith.

I made a RoL/Fractal/Hope deck and forgot to put attack in. So I got screwed as soon as my opponent used a shield that prevents 1 damage. FAIL.
First loss against AI1 :P

Since when can Gemini play air creatures? he only has gravity/aether quanta.

Since never. He uses Twin Universe on the mutant Sky Dragons, which places them directly on his playfield; he doesn't need to play them. Incidentally, this improves the mutant with every TU. Painful.

he can't play them specifically, but if u mutate a skeleton and get one he can Twin Universe and use Unstopable on it and the just obliterate you and your defense through pure damage output alone.

experiences such as these are the very reason i stopped trying to win against FG's unles the oracle told me it was one i had a good chance of winning against, and decided to alternate between lv 3, T50, and lv 5.

:P :P I LOLed so hard at this thread :P :P
BTW grats on 200!!

I was playing against Decay with my "Immortal" deck (comprised of Stone Skins, Miracles, etc. etc.) and was in control for the majority of the match and was about to break 50 :earth. So, I was just about to use four Stone Skins when my turn came around. Prior to that, I was hit with four Soul Siphons and was left with 60 or so HP. Before my turn came around again, I was hit with 6 or so Soul Siphons and was dealt the final blow by Devourers.
You may have won today, Decay, but next time, I will get you.. I WILL GET YOUUUUUUUUUUUU! *Monitor punch* /make believe

Grinding out huge Condors with Aflatoxin is super-cool UNLESS YOUR OPPONENT ALSO HAS A BONE SHIELD FFFFFFFFFFFFffffffffffff

Chaos Lord:
2 Novas, 3 Shards, Permafrost Shield, Fractal. Awesome hand, no?
NO TOWERS.
Then, as I tried to build up quanta for a supernova, CHAOS LORD DRAWS DISCORD.
Epic. Failure.

I had 22 hp. Gemini had 17 malignant cells. I knew he had no cretures left, and all mine were protected. He TU'd the cell 6 times, stealing the win. T_T
