Well seems like my proposition of grouping will lose in the end, so I started to think about names for "new one".

For sure I like Material. I do not like Physical because I can not imagine "physical" Air.
I do not like Cardinal - I still prefer Fundamental over it. But Cosmic looks better paired with other groups' names and I must say I really like Celestial.
I do not like Spiritual as a name for group with Life. Modal looks better but it seems kind of "weird" to me. Best I found so far was Natural but probably it is not my final decision.

I really do like the idea of semi-quanta pillars that generate 2 random quantum of the 4 elements that group is. But 2 is way too much for such a small group, comparing this to quanta pillars you should get 1. But then, why have random in the first place?

Perhaps they could generate 1-2 random quanta of the group elements. That way it will be slightly more balanced yet still an improvment of the 1 of you'd get from a normal pillar.

And maybe you could choose a group at the start (and be able to change for a small fee, like you do with marks) and then have some specilized quests for each group such as beating the opposing FG, so Decay have to beat Morning Glory/Miracle/FireQueen etc.

Just throwing some ideas around. But i think we really do need some new quests, the current ones are done in an hour or so then forgotten.

If Cardinal doesn't work, then just go with Fundamental. Celestial is too Light-related. Or maybe Universal?

Natural isn't really good, because "nature" is related to the four elements of fire, water, earth and air, which is Material.
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.

The suggestion by Sastrugi is very cool.

I especially like the:

Material:  :air  :earth :fire :water
Spiritual:  :light :darkness :life :death
Cosmic:  :aether :entropy :time :gravity

This is something we should make "official" imo.
You know, you're unintentionally describing:

Biology:  :light :darkness :life :death
Chemistry:  :air  :earth :fire :water
Physics:  :aether :entropy :time :gravity

(Yeah, light and darkness don't really fit.)

But each set gets more and more fundamental and basic.

My vote goes to Scaredgirl's first wheel, which is almost perfect in my opinion. I also liked the second version that Lord Midnight suggested, where earth, air, fire and water are in the middle and other elements are outside. I think that groups should be as simple as possible and have quite simple names (order-chaos, grow-decay are very good). "Cosmic" and "spiritual" make things really too complicated adn people understand these things too differently.

isnt chemistry the study of matter, so wouldnt materials be chemistry?

The Material elements ARE chemistry. :fire :water :earth :air, right?

Bump.

We need to resolve this issue at some point. I'd like to see some kind of big picture in wiki (or embedded onto forums that shows all the Elements and how they relate to each other.

Are you going to post the idea that someone else suggested (possibly lyelle) with the continuous picture?
