I fell stupid for getting so off track, but GW is a very hard game to balance, and currently the balance is probably better than any other time since factions came out.  The only build that is currently in the gvg meta that needs a nerf badly is S-way (uses escape ranger with dagger's + exhausting assault), which is due to the same consistent problem with escape that has long powered r/d builds and  arenanet has still not fixed.  Split play is back due to the introduction of mind blast/ distortion or E/D builds.  Bloodspike is still run, but is not any more of a threat than any other team build in the game.  Rawrspike for the most part no longer exists, and the game is finally recovering from the idiotic buffs of last year.  As for Izzy, I'm not going to comment too much on his preformance, but lets just say we're glad he's moved to GW2 and is no longer in charge of the balance.

The split between PVE and PVP skill is the smartest balance decision they have made since factions came out.  The game has always been balanced around PVP, and pve players get the short end of the stick.  Even with the split pve players are still stuck with a unplayable version of hunters shot, the only reasonable ranger 5e damage skill other than keen arrow.

As for saying that balance is poor in general, I really have a hard time following that.  Do you have any expierence with other games with a similar pvp style?  Oh and don't mention David Sirlin as a comparison, I agree that he is amazing with game balance (I play kongai) but nothing he does is similar to GW.  Also, it is impossible to say that any game is perfectly balanced, and quite frankly for a game like GW the mixup is part of the fun.  I would find pvp getting very stale if hey stopped updating the meta, even if it was at an "ideal" balance.

I stand by my statement that pvp in Elements needs to be far more accessible.  Having an upgraded god farming deck should not be a requirement for fighting other players.

@ElementalGod

No need to go all crazy and take everything so personally. :)

Sorry if I sounded condescending, that was not intended. I have strong opinions and english is not my first language so maybe what I'm trying to say comes of as something else.

I never said anything like "Well why don't you do it better?" so trying to imply that I'm childish or something is way out of line.

What you seem to be saying is that you angry because ArenaNet didn't listen some "important" players in GW community. All I can say about that is lol.

What I've seen is that MMO players like to whine a lot. It's a lose-lose situation to MMO developers because whatever you do, half the players are going to whine and cry. This has always happened and will always happen.

I'm not saying you need to be a game developer to be able to critize a game. But I am saying that if you do not understand how game programming works, how can you critize developers about that? What might seem like an easy fix to you and me, might be were difficult to do without breaking something else. Also people have to understand that MMO's are a BUSINESS and sometimes you need to make decisions based on business standpoint, not because some guild leader complains about it on a guild forum.

I played GW for about 2 years almost daily. I was in close contact with 100+ plus top level PvP players and I can honestly say I didn't hear any big complaints from them. Sure sometimes there were some annoying broken builds but those were fixed very quickly, and everyone knew it, so it wasn't a big problem. I have personally seen an exploit fixed in less than 2 hours, something I have never seen in an MMO before or after.

"majority of players left in disgust before the year 2009"?

The fact is that according to Xfire, GW is still the number two MMO after WoW. Sure a lot of people (like myself) have left but this is probably more due to the fact that GW is getting old, there won't be any new updates and people just get bored. Even the best games out there cannot hold your interest for decades.

This whole argument is totally useless because you talk about the past and I talk about the present. I still play GW from time to time and it always amazes me how polished and balanced it is.
